Cam knowledge needed.
I finaly have some good heads and a good intake but I am limited in my cam choices.
Cause my car is speed density. I dont have much clearance with 2.02 1.60 valves and stock pistons. I am looking for a cam with about 480 lift and better performance than the stock cam. with a good idle.

dont go with the B-cam.. its not very good on the low end i heard.
Go with a 93 cobra Cam .479/.479 lifts.. and the duration is nice for no lope! I made a mistake and should have taken one once that a guy was gonna give me free... Otherwise go with a TFS stage 1 .499/.512 lifts... |

Dude, trust me, dont use the 93 cobra cam, if you want a stock sound, use a stock 5.0 h.o, for performance use the b-cam, or e-cam, the b is not that bad on the lowend, just have some 373 or better gears, my friend had a b-cammer 302 went 13.2's with a 650 carb.

Last time I messed with a speed density was back in the early 90s. It was a freinds car and we got it into the low 12s with a little gas. We stayed with the stock cam and 1.7 rockers. even then the idle wasn't real steady. Car Craft put a 5.0 together with AFR 165s and stock cam w/1.7s and made 400 horse (it had a carb though). I was looking through Comp Cams and they have a couple of extrmes with 114 centerline, should idle decent, but may cause you trouble with lift.512. SF&5.0 mag did head test with this cam this month and made like 375 horse with canfields. But they had notched pistons. Hope this helps

Thanks for the info guys.
The 93 cobra cam is worse than the 5.0 HO cam the only reason it has .479 lift is cause of the 1.7 rockers. Anyways we put some putty on the pistons and it barely has clearance with the stock cam so that pretty much made up my mind for me. I guess we will get to see what the stock cam is made of
