Default many questions!

Where the heck is the PCV valve on my 86 5.0L Mustang, where is this baffle I hear people talking about in the air intake that they take out, and is taking the baffle out worth it? Also who makes the best mass airflow conversion kit for an absolutely stock engine?

Thanks

Lightbulb Questions and answers

The PCV is located on the very end of the intake, in the center. To find it, on a cold engine use a strong light or just go by 'feel'. The thick PCV hose goes into it so feel for that. It's a unit; a screen, the valve and a grommet. Buy the kit at any Ford dealer. About $10.

The baffle is an 'air silencer' in the right front fender. It's meant to quiet the intake of air. It's useless - and removing it can be worth as much as 4 HP. Well worth it for a freebie that's easy to do.

To remove it, you have to first remove the plastic airbox that holds the air filter (a few small bolts). Then remove the protruding bolts from the fender that hold the silencer. Then, you have to simply wiggle it out of the fenderwell. A little tricky but just have patience - it comes out eventually. Thousands have been successfully removed from Mustangs over the years.

Not only do you pick up a few HP, but when you floor it, the sound is awesome.

I would suggest the Ford Racing kit for a Mass Airflow conversion or simply buy the parts off a wreck and replace what's needed. A lot cheaper that way.

Question PCV location??

I know I've asked where the PCV is myself, but I can't find it either. I don't know if it's possible, but can someone please take a picture of the PCV while it's still on their car? My engine was recently rebuilt and when I took it apart it ran really badly, I think it had to do with it missing the PCV. Thanks for your help!
