i guess u could say they are really bald:D
the only time u can get sound out of them now is when u roast em around a corner or ur on a country road

joe4speed 12-11-2001 11:12 AM

LOL I refuse to drive it in the rain, they're so bald! It's a deathtrap in the rain!

Crazy Horse GT 12-11-2001 11:17 AM

RAGE_5.0 12-11-2001 12:17 PM

i learnt how to drive with bald tires in the rain really quickley

1969Mach1 12-11-2001 04:14 PM

lol Great way to make home made slicks. =)

6T9PONY 12-11-2001 04:21 PM

The tires on my car only have about 2500 miles on them....the front tires are great...the rear tires have about half of the tread depth as they did when they were new....I like to see some big ole tracks from my 295/50s....:D

95mustanggt 12-11-2001 05:10 PM

Mine are totally gone. Driving in rain is like driving on ice. Sucks though, I was going to use my money for a set of gears, but now they have to go to buying tires :(

6T9PONY 12-11-2001 09:17 PM

hey don't worry about the tires...go with the gears!!! haha....j/k....do the safe thing!!!!

Rebel79 12-12-2001 11:08 AM

Mine come bald. Well what do you expect for drag radials?

fiveohpatrol 12-12-2001 03:57 PM

what about bald drag radials? i've got those! :D

the nitto DR's are awesome in the rain.... until they get about half of their tread gone and then its like driving a 500hp ranger with a single track rear end and 4.56 gears on ice

6T9PONY 12-12-2001 04:02 PM

that would be sweet to have a 500 hp ranger....you could scare the bejesus out of a lot of people with one of those....

fiveohpatrol 12-12-2001 04:07 PM

yah, including yourself :)

6T9PONY 12-12-2001 04:13 PM

Haha...oh yeah! That would be scary.....very scary...I'd probably crap my pants a few times a week driving one of those things...I can't imagine how my girlfriend would react to that!! That would be hilarious!!

You think YOU have it bad? Imagine driving MY 400+rwhp car in the rain with Nitto Dr's! Especially when they are bald. I litterally have to CRAWL off the line or else I'm sideways. But other times I can ease into it pretty good in 2nd and not loose traction (till about 9psi) :D.

mustangman65_79 12-13-2001 12:41 AM

My old tires were so bald, the when I last spun them, doing a powerbrake, I blew up the left rear. I heard a pop when I was spinning them, and about an hour later, it went flat, I had to air it up every 1 to 2 hours. I finaly got newer tires, but they are getting the same way.

6T9PONY 12-13-2001 02:09 AM

That's probably not very safe man.....hehe......

mustangman65_79 12-13-2001 03:59 AM

I never knew how much fun it was to spin whenever I wanted. But tires are getting expensive, lol

84LX89GT 12-13-2001 11:36 PM

My GT came with bald tires on the front and now i put snow tires on them and i've never had bald tires on the '84. I hate having bald tires so i usually buy new ones as soon as they get down to around to 3 or 4/32nds tread (usually they start around 10/32 with the 55/60 series tires i buy). The only car i've had with bald tires was my '83 Mercury Zephyr and that was because i'd power brake it quite often (facing down hill in reverse with silicone lubricant sprayed on the ground :D) and that was only because i was selling it for $300 to a friend. It's too easy to hydroplane and lose control around where i live (crappy roads, lots of rain, lots of other cars on the road around here near seattle).

6T9PONY 12-13-2001 11:47 PM

Hydroplaning is some scary stuff......have you ever seen those little dune buggy things that have the paddle-like tires that can skim across water. I think they're similar or even the same ones that climb the really steep hills--like just about vertical.

It's awesome to watch those guys on TV.....I bet that would look insane in real life!

Unit 5302 12-14-2001 12:02 AM

I literally had NO tread left on my tires two winters ago. I drove the car through the snow that way. LOL. My dad was dumbfounded on how I could even get it to move.

Good tires make things SOOOO much better.

6T9PONY 12-14-2001 12:36 AM

My Nissan's tires are pretty bald.....and old.....

I have to put it in 4WD to get anywhere in that thing if it's icy....absolutely no weight in the back end.....at all......it's fun though......hehe

Ty'97Cobra 12-14-2001 06:13 PM

Bald enough that all four tires on the LX failed the yearly inspection!!!!!

Spent $400 on a new set of GT+4's. I guess that was a good price....

1969Mach1 12-14-2001 06:34 PM

hahaha.... lol. Fun has an expensive price and it starts with tires.
I would love to take a car out in the winter on a big open area and have lots of fun like slidding everywhere. I need to find alot of open room. :D

Mustangbelle306 12-14-2001 09:39 PM

I spent almost $300 a piece for my 315/35/17s and I don't see why I would want to waste them spinning in one place  I bought tires so I could drive my car...

Five0 12-14-2001 09:59 PM

I had a pair of bald steel belted radials on my old mustang that would through little sparks off the tires when you would spin them.

The nittos I have now are bald also.

tireburner163 12-14-2001 11:18 PM

The day before I bought my new tires, said to my self. "Self, why would buy new tires when the old ones still have some tread left." So I did like a 5 min. burnout(on video, but you guys will have to wait till I get a video capture card for christmas:D )

The bad news is I had a blow out on the way to the tire shop:( . NO LAUGHING:D

6T9PONY 12-15-2001 04:07 AM

That's why you wait until you get to the tire shop to do the burnout!!!

Of course!!!! Why didn't I think of that. A busy area of town in the middle of the day would be the perfect place for a burn out.:D I bet all the cops would come out to watch too. Then maybe I could finally see what the inside of a jail cell looks like:D

86GT 12-16-2001 02:20 AM

I know the feeling of spinning with no marks or sound. I finally changed my tires today, put on my 10holes. The ones on my 5 stars had no tread whatsoever on them. The steel cords have worn through and I can see on one tire where they molded the softer rubber treads to the harder core of the tire. Pretty scary in the rain! I'm just glad there's no snow yet.

RAGE_5.0 12-16-2001 08:55 AM

joe are u driving urs this winter???

86GT 12-16-2001 12:43 PM

Nope, I'm not gonna do that ever again! I had to drive it for the last week of January when my little beater blew its head gasket. That weekend I was in London visiting my oldest brother, and then on my way home it started snowing pretty bad. Took 3 1/2 hours to get home. So nope, not gonna try it. I've nearly got the beater finished, and when that's done, the stang is off the road for the winter and part of the spring. I've got a ton of work to do to it.

RAGE_5.0 12-16-2001 12:54 PM

i wish i could take my car off the road but i don't have anything else to drive.......oh well i hope the blizzaks i'm gonna order work allright

bri32z 12-16-2001 07:20 PM

30,00 miles on mine and they still have 20 to go:) In other words they are far from bald

EXACTLY!!! Now you're talking fun! That's just what I meant!! haha....j/k.....:D :D :D :p

mustangman65_79 12-17-2001 05:51 AM

Do it like me, on the way to the tire shop, spin them at everylight, and just before u get there, do a really good burnout. If your good enough, u wont get chaught.
