Stang_Crazy 04-07-2003 07:18 PM

My baby has 66,789 miles on her. She doesn't get driven much at all...maybe 2500-3000 miles during the summer months.

I'm currently looking for a late 80's LX with around 100k miles that I can buy to beat the hell out of :)

I have been so kind to my car the last 77,000 miles.
However, I have no idea what it went through the first 57,000 miles before I had it.. :p

No, I only have it out of the garage from mid April through the end of October. We attend alot of the local shows and go out for dinner on Saturday nights. The first show of the season for us will be May 18th. Then we go to Carlisle for the Ford Nationals at the end of May.

XR1stang 04-08-2003 01:06 PM

I have a 94 stang and it has 147k miles on it. It still has the original block and internals on it, also the original tranny. Up until about 600 miles ago it still had the original clutch in it even though I beat the pure crap out of this car.

Right now the only "problem" I have is the fact that I have a slight oil leak from the gasket around the oil pan, but that only shows up when I'm really getting on it hard and the oil is hot. Not too concerned because if things go well I'll have a new engine in within a month or so :D

Sicy Stang 04-08-2003 01:45 PM

Is changing the oil pan gasket a pretty big job? (money-wise/mechanic wise since I cant do it myself).

XR1stang 04-08-2003 02:04 PM

it's not exactly an easy project, at least on my car from what I can tell. I haven't yet done one so I'm just guessing, but it looks like the K-member and all the assorted stuff that goes with it is going to have to come off. Other than that I can't tell what needs to be dropped just from looking. I'm guessing that yours will be similar to mine though.

If I wasn't so far along in my new engine build I would be worried about it and what I would have to do, but since all that stuff is coming off anyway I figure why worry. The slight leak is below the fireline anyway, so it's not a bad thing. Just have to keep an eye on the oil, and of course I'm not taking it to the track like this because I would just ruin everyone else's day.

Sicy Stang 04-08-2003 02:44 PM

Ya I dont lose much oil.. maybe a quart every 3k.

I see you're from SF.. I'm from Redwood City.. :)

To answer the original question - I had nearly 160k on my '92 when I sold it and 29,748 on my 2001. I watch it everyday, I'm waiting to see it flip to 30k.

Well then, it can get kinda expensive as the motor has to be either raised or pulled to get the pan clear of the K-frame to pull the pan. You might clean up around the pan edges, tighten the bolts and put RTV around the pan edges/block to stem some leaking if your sure that is where the leak is from.

MissBlondie 04-11-2003 08:45 AM

6k :p

Sicy Stang 04-11-2003 03:23 PM

Yes he is a great artist :)

Thanks for the advice tmoss.

MissBlondie is your car brand new? :p

Skyman 04-12-2003 02:53 PM

Well my 89 has had some good abuse, but it has only seen about 35-40k on the motor and trans.

Had a 85 w/ a 1990 motor that had 130k and it let go in about 2 weeks of abuse. New motor w/ 90k on it and 1 month later of good abuse and it was gone too...

It had one owner before me. An older guy who bought it as a "sunday car", and his wife didn't want him to have it anymore, so he offered me a good deal and I took it. He bought it May 2002. I had it out all weekend playing, it was absolutely beautiful! :p

Sicy Stang 04-14-2003 06:42 PM

Ah I just now read your sig.. 2002 GT. That's pretty amazing for a 2002 to only have 6k. Lucky girl.

I wish I could afford to have a Sunday car..

My '94 Verte I bought 4 1/2 years ago w/ 45K on her now has 113,201 now as she sits in my garage...the last few years, i've replaced ALOT, shes my Daily Driver, and I show her (for those who might not know) ;) .....when it rains it pours....

Original block, Tranny, paint. (except for the skirts when i changed out the exaust)

Have replaced the brakes, Oil pan gasket, Oxygen sensors, Harmonic balancer, added bolt ons, just replaced the rack and pinion, and just put in my second clutch. My drive shaft was on its way out, put in an aluminum one, my off road H-pipe is now 'patched'. It needs to be replaced. My top is Holy, and I dont mean it goes to church. :p

I"ve had the new top and rear glass in my living room now for over a year, and I have NO choice but to dump the $$ in it now before Nats the end of May. They judge w/ the top UP!!!

I'm buying Cads stock back bumper from him at FFW this weekend, to get painted, and get the MUSTANG letters airbrushed like Chuck Coupland did on my side skirts, to replace the back bumper I cratered into a garage TWICE a couple of years ago 3 DAYS before AUTORAMA, after a few margaritas and Black Russians!! DAMN them Russians!!! (still got 2nd! ;) )

She runs great, and I'm hoping to run it till its can run no more....and maybe one day, I can afford a PAINT JOB....but I do not see that for a long, long time!
I love my car. :)
 TNT

msunickb 05-01-2003 08:56 AM

Just over 98,000 miles. I just bought it so not exactly sure how well they took care of it but I know I'll only be driving it in the summer on nice days, I have a Camry for the dirty work. :) To my knowledge, no problems with the engine to this point. Doesn't leak oil or coolant and seems to run very well.

1969Mach1 05-02-2003 01:26 PM

I only have like 78,000km's on my Mustang, I believe that orignal.
My dad's t-bird has almost 300,000km's (180,000 miles) and she is still running strong. And he beats her real good but she loves it. That thing can barry the neddle on the highway with no problem at all. I know he replaced the head gaskets a few years ago, but other then that it's been fine. Ohhh... he broke the spedo before too. :D It goes to 200km/h and it hit the bottom, bent and snapped. lol He was pretty proud of doing it too. :D

-Sam.

I have no idea how many miles mine has, it has the 5 number odometer (couldn't care less anyways, I've replaced the whole drivetrain). It could be 140,000 240,000 or 340,000 Km. Anyways, It's on it's 3rd motor, the first one was dusted when I bought the car, the second was too slow, the third one is just about right.

joe4speed 05-03-2003 07:53 AM

My '88 GT has 179,000 miles, runs awesome!

My '84 has well over 200,000 on the car itself. The motor has probably around 50,000. My 2000 has 24,000 on it. I got it in August of 2002 with 16,000. It was my mom's. She didn't drive too much. My '66 fastback, who only knows on that one.:D

Your signature colors are cool. If you stare at them, the red fades to the back and the green really moves out at you giving a 3D affect.

My 93Lx has about 60,000 miles, I bought it from the original owner, it has never been a daily driver, it's never seen snow and hardly ever seen rain. The only major work it has needed was a tranny rebuild. the only mods it has are 3.55 gears and exhaust. I only drive it about once a week.

93blkGTfun 05-06-2003 10:22 AM

My stang has 143k on her. Its my daily driver. I'm almost done painting it. I cant wait to get it done. I sprayed the first coat sunday. I'll be wet sanding all day today.

lil drummer boy 05-06-2003 11:18 AM

My '97 GT had 49k on it when I got it last august. Now it's got 63k. The only work I've had done to it was some front end repair and a quarter panel replacement... both due to them damn freakin' deer!!!! ...the car was in the shop twice in three months.
