![]() A guy at my work wants to sell a new in the box GT40 Ford Motorsport intake (upper and lower) with a trick flow spacer for $550. I'll probably offer maybe a little over $400, but anyways, how much Horsepower would that intake give my car.
Specs (at least that increase power): '89 GT 5.0L 1.72:1 roller rockers 70mm throttle body MSD ignition I'm also going to put on the 1 5/8" shorty headers w/ the 2 1/2" offroad H and Flowtech Stinger cat-back and put on some fairly heavily ported heads with slightly larger valves, all gasket matched. Any ideas? I just wanted to get an idea, i'm guessing 30hp but i don't know if it's worth the $$$. ------------------ Mustang Parts Specialties ripped me off, it could happen to you as well. ![]() For the money, I'd get it. However, the ammount of HP isn't what you should be looking at. You should be worried about the change in the HP and TQ curves. With the GT-40, you'll likely change your peak from about 5400 to around 5300 or lower.
I hope that came out the way I wanted it to sound. Sometimes I take a valid point and turn it to mush. ![]() ------------------ "Is that a Cobra?" "Yeah" "It's a V6, right?" "Yeah" |

![]() Right now the car starts to drift off about 4500rpm, i thought with the intake/heads/exhaust it should pull better to 5000 with less lowend torque but lots of midrange.
Whatcha think??? I'll probably get it if i can get it for close to $500 at the highest. Thanks for your post. ------------------ Mustang Parts Specialties ripped me off, it could happen to you as well. '84 Mustang 5.0 LX my LX '89 Mustang GT my GT |

![]() I just read your car's specs, and I think you should get the intake, but hold off on putting it on. Unless you already have the heads and cam, I'd wait until you needed the extra flow of the GT-40. It's just overkill at this point.
Just my $0.02. Anyway, good luck with it. Later. |
