friend broke a control arm on launch!
well, this is not really a question, but might help someone in the future, my friends 85 coupe (many had heard me ramble about it) has a 347, stage3 tfs, victor jr. 650 dp'r, longtubes, welds e.t.streets, 410's....blah blah, well i posted his 12.2 114 run his 1st time out with the new combo, i believe skyman said it wasnt that impressive condidering his mods, well he is right, the car has more in it, the other night he launched about 4k, and snap!! upper control arm broke completely, he didnt know, cuz the d/s was banging the floor, and he couldnt hook up, he still went 12.3 112.
Well he knew something wasnt right, it felt "loose" so he pulled it on a friends trailer to look under, it was dark, so nothing noticed. next day he takes it to a shop where his motor was built, the mechanic noticed the driverside was lower? he instanly said "you have a broke control arm" he was right, upon lift, also said he needed rear springs badly, the old ones just fell out, and were not even serving a purpose? hehe, so some new stockers went in, they raised up the rear a little, now the d/s doesnt hit, and the car amazed us on how it accelerates, it feels like it catapults off the line, we expect a lower 60' and around 11.80's e.t on motor, sorry for the long rant, but that goes to show, how springs can affect 1/4 mile times. actualy feels like more torque being made.

It was stock i believe, i actually didnt see it, but he just had it welded temporarily, he is gonna replace with aftermarket, and box them in. the weld should hold for a couple passes i hope...

The right suspension set-up can knock a great deal off 1/4 times.
