I cant believe it - I'm buying a new car

Yep, its time to sell my car. It's up to 138k original miles and things are slowly starting to go wrong with it. Not just everyday things either. I feel like this thing will blow up any day now. I will miss it so much, my little hot rod :( I've had it for almost 10 years. But, its time. I think I can get $3500 for it.

So tomorrow I'm going to finalize a deal on a 1998 6-cyl Mustang Coupe. It will be such a difference to drive a car that's 10 years newer than mine. I'm pretty excited. Even though I wont have this loud, cool, black stang anymore ... :o I will be happy with a much newer and less of a gas guzzler car. It has 75k on it and its so clean.. inside and out. Price is $7000. Of course I will finance it. I wish I could win the lotto and buy a 2004 cobra or something  but I'm goin for what I can afford. I cant afford to fix my 88 anymore *sigh* its just not worth it. So if anyone wants to buy it.............................. :D:D:D

Hopefully I will post pics of the new car tomorrow. :D

I'm shopping a car right now but I'm actually looking at the 67-68 Cougars, I just gotta have one in this lifetime. I'm just curious about what problems you are having with your car... I think you will be hating the v6 quickly but... maybe not.. hell, I don't know you that well.

Sicy Stang 09-27-2003 11:13 AM

LOL.. well, I did drive it and of course its much slower than my 88 but I really dont mind at this day and age of my life. I did jam on the gas and it has enough pick up for me. I dont race my cars so.. it will be my daily driver. I got 10 good, fun years out of it so I dont mind settling down with a v-6.

My 88 has been a really good car overall.. I dunno just recently I've been spending too much money. I had the idle air control valve go out, and the other day the airpump/smog pump went out and left me stranded on the middle of a busy road. One of my valve covers I believe is leaking.. the car is just not worth putting thousands of dollars into it. I am not a mechanic and I dont know any men that work on cars, so when my car breaks I have to put it in the shop. That's a lot of money. Both head gaskets I believe are starting to go.. all this stuff adds up. My starter is probly next and the motor and tranny are original. The car runs good and strong though. I just dont know what's going to break next, and I dont want to know lol :o

Good luck with your Cougar shopping :)

Your getting raped on the price.

You can get a 98 low mileage V8 convertable for 7 grand.

TRUE THAT!!!!!!!

A guy I know just picked up a NICE 97 GT vert with leather, Mach 460, 17" Cobra R's, the whole 9 yards. BEAUTIFUL car with 68K miles on it for $7200

Sicy Stang 09-28-2003 12:04 AM

This is California.. the island of rape ;) Anyway, I didnt want a convertible, and I wanted a 6.

I like it.. its nice, clean and drives perfect.

I just had an awesome thought. I wonder if my 88's rims and tires would fit on my 98 and I could swap them. The 88's are 16's, the 98's are 15's and the 88's are wider and better tires. Those rims and tires are worth like $1300 :o

daveGT 09-28-2003 07:42 AM

Definitely get rid of the 15" rims. Stock rims on V6 stangs make me weep openly. Better yet, go on Ebay and get some stock '99+ five spoke wheels and tires. Those look great on '94-'98 stangs, and you can get them cheap cheap!

BTW, I agree with the concensus, shop for a 4.6L if you can afford it, those cars get great gas mileage.

I wish you luck!

tireburner163 09-28-2003 10:15 AM

No your 88's rims won't fit on the 98. The 88 is 4-lug and the 98 is 5-lug.

If you don't want a V-8, then find a V-6 for like 4K, and not a V-6 for a V-8 price

Crap :(

btw, I already bought the car, I just posted the pictures silly guys.

Thanks for the ebay tip. I like ebay .. I buy stuff from there all the time. Do you know what words I should search for?

daveGT 09-29-2003 07:04 AM

Just search for "Mustang Wheels" on EBay. There's a bunch of '99-up 17" stock GT five spoke wheels. Be patient and wait for the wheels and tires, much cheaper this way. View the "completed" auctions and see how much these wheels sold for in past bids, that'll give you an idea.

Good luck.

congrats. i hope you enjoy your new car;)

You didn't pay that much did you???

Sicy Stang 10-02-2003 12:30 PM

I am enjoying the car, thank you. It's a great car. Such a change from 10 years ago. I like that its "new" and drives smooth. I am very satisfied with it. First thing I want to do is tint the windows though. That is required!!

As for my old rims and tires. Those are 16" Borbet rims.. about $150 a piece. This was like 5 years ago.. before I even knew what ebay was and went through a manufacturer. The tires are Kumho 245/45/16 very cool tires and have last me over 2 years already if you can believe that.. I think they ran me about $120 a piece. So more or less.. yeah. But I dont think I'd pay that much for rims and tires in the future.. now that I know where to get the deals.

tireburner163 10-02-2003 03:18 PM

oh, you paid $1300, not they're worth $1300.

Was a little confused on why you thought $300 dollar rims were worth $1300

Sorry for the mix up

-Josh, aka the tireburner

Sicy Stang 10-03-2003 07:07 PM

My bad, I guess I just WISH I could get $1300 for them lol.

This car is nothing but trouble. Now its leaking tranny fluid! WTF?? It's been sitting at my house and there's a huge puddle underneath the car.. pinkish brown. I'm sure its tranny fluid. I dont know how or why its leaking out of nowhere for no reason. :(

Heh, heh. You're funny. :D

Hope you have fun with your new car. What are the specs on the 88, btw?

Sicy Stang 10-16-2003 09:38 PM

Why am I funny http://images.bravenet.com/common/im...ilies/yell.gif
This car is seriously stressing me out. I just got the cats and O2 sensors put back on and I'm taking it to try and get a smog tomorrow.. that's got me all nervous.. then I see this damn puddle of tranny fluid under my car and I'm freaking out. I have to sell this thing.. it figures crap would start going wrong now. :( Is it seals? gaskets? I have no clue. I just had it serviced for an oil change at chevron oil stop. I dont think they messed with the tranny stuff but this just started happening recently out of nowhere. *kicks car* The specs on it are "I SUCK!!" Its a 302 5.0 8 cylinder automatic.. I dont know all the fancy code talk.

The new car is great. I love it. At least that's one good thing.

8T4SVOChick 10-16-2003 09:52 PM

Sorry to hear about your bad luck Sicy. The car knows you are fixing to sell it, so now it's gonna act up on ya. Never fails. Good luck.

Sicy Stang 10-17-2003 08:44 PM

My car passed smog! I am sooooooooo relieved. Now I can sell it :D

Problem is the tranny seal is leaking.. *screams* My valve covers are leaking.. (not as bad as the tranny). I'm not about to dump 400 more dollars into that thing. I guess I'll just knock the price down a bit or at least just let the person know.. stupid car.

Crazy Horse GT 10-17-2003 11:41 PM

OHHH NOOO, my black car, heheh, i'll fix it, i beat it's just a rear tranny seal or the pan is leaking, 30 minutes work, dont sell my car. :( :( :( :( :(

Sicy Stang 10-18-2003 02:03 AM

It's the main seal.. the tranny needs to be dropped.. screw that! LOL.. I'm sellin it. Unless you want to come pick it up ;) :D :p :p

Skyman 10-18-2003 01:58 PM

Sicy, I have some brand new 2002 V6 wheels that will fit perfect on your car, 16", much nicer than those in my opinion.

Im selling them for $300.

Skyler

Sicy Stang 10-18-2003 03:06 PM
