i cant race at the track
Went to the track last night and the results were very upsetting. I get too anxious. I miss shifts or end up spinning half way down the track. On the street i never have any of these problems. I can street race all night without missing gears. I cant get into the zone when im at the track. Anything i can do to make me more comfortable?

Yeah but they usually don't allow beer in the car, J/K
If you don't mind loosing like 1 horsepower, turn on the radio, seriously. I noticed I drive a lot faster w/music (on the street). I took my aunt's '99 Probe (cougar) (auto) to some strip in MD (I think MIR), I knocked off 1/10th listing to melvin's cosmic psychos (aussie band i think), pay about $600 to rent the track for a few hours, you can prbably get in for less, but we had 3 cars with us. |

i will only race with my local mustang club, cause we rent out the track for 4 hours and i get 20+ runs, compared to MAYBE 3 if you go at open track time. join a mustang club in your area and suggest that, or just get some of your friends.

I use to do the same thing at the track when I first started drag racing.
The only thing that will help you is to try to calm down or just keep going and practice. It will get a lot easier after a while and soon you won't even think about it. ------------------ James Cox nochevy@hotmail.com 1991 Mustang LX 12.565 @109.38mph 1.764 60ft |

The forst few times are scary. After about 3 times to the track, it's pretty routine. I feel 100% comfortable at the strip, I've also got about 150 passes under my belt in my old stang

I stll get the adrenilin rush after running, but I've gotten better. Lately, I have only been able to run the Focus, but I should have the Cobra back by the end of the week. Then it's time to start all over with it, getting used to it again. What I do to get the best results I can is to just block everything else out. I don't even think about the car in the next lane. I just watch the tree, and then I switch between my lane and the tach(no shift light yet, too lazy to do it). I hope that helps you out some. Later.
