Talking I WAS FLYING HIGH YESTERDAY!

Well, I've done a lot of cool stuff, which includes racing, flying in planes, and even skydiving. However, over the weekend I did something I had never done before and it was totally cool... I went hot air ballooning! I went up in a small (ha ha!) 70,000 cubic-ft balloon with a 150 lb. three passenger basket (pilot, plus two) in the northern part of lower Michigan. Check it out. I'm standing on the right helping the pilot's wife to hold the mouth of the balloon open while we initially inflate it with an air blower. In the lower left pic you can then see him filling it with hot air using the balloon's burner.

I took a girl I've been dating to do this as a weekend excursion... We also went horse back riding (something else I had never done) and canoeing at a ranch. Man, I'm hurting! I used muscles I didn't know existed in my legs trotting the horse through the trails... *ugh*

Cool

Well, I wasn't particularly trying to win any brownie points, but we both really enjoyed it... It was a lot of fun, and I'd definitely recommend it to anyone. Here's a picture of our balloon floating through the sky taken from the other (bigger 250,000 cubic-ft) balloon that's pretty cool...

Cool Dan!!!
My ex in-laws live in Albuquerque. I've been out to that Balloon Festival about 4 times. The last time I went, they had over 900 balloons!!! ITS AWESOME! They wanted about $100 for a ride. Never took one myself. What's really cool, is before daybreak, when it's still dark, and all the balloons go up, and light up. Incredible. They have all the special shaped ones too! You ought to go sometime. It's the first full week of October, (first 2 weekends) Makes for a great weekend. All you see (and hear) all weekend, is the blowers blowing them up. They have one laying over the other, one goes up, then the next, and so on,etc. If your ever interested in going, let me know, I'll get you some info. Topless

Looks Fun, but I'm terrified of heights. I get goose bumps just looking at the pictures.

Topless, depending on how long the ride is that's not a bad price at all. Our ride was about an hour and a half, and it was $190 each.

MustangGuy, you should definitely do it. Riding the horse was cool as heck. I'd like to do it again some time soon. It was fairly inexpensive too. Like $25 for an hour plus trail ride. We had a group of five when we went is all too..

Mercury, don't be afraid to try it. It's not like what you may think. It's totally different than standing on a ladder or the roof of your house. Same thing for skydiving. My friend that went with me the first time I ever jumped did so partially because he is afraid of heights. He was hoping it would help him with it. However, after he did it he said it wasn't the same at all and he had no problem with it. So, it didn't help him much in that regard.

I can't help but laugh and realize that we should'nt always take for granted what we can do. I was raised in the coutry and rode horses from the time I was little. I never stop and think that many many people never actually ride a horse.

But of course I had my things missed to. Where I lived there was no such thing as delivery for anything. I had my pigmy(sp?) goat eaten by a puma when I was about 9. All in all its a different life, the biggest mall I had been too until a few years ago consisted of about 30 stores. hehe

Yeah, yeah..........laugh it up with me......

$190 each! sounds a little pricey to me, i went skydiving for $150.00 and its a lot more involved, although not as time consuming.

WE got horses all over the place here and no I don't own one. I learned the heard way more times than not to never ride anything with a brain. Ever been on a hrose at a hundred miles an hour and it decides this is a good time to pee? Trust me the stupid thing ain't gonna ask if you're ready for a break. 100 to ZERO in three feet.
I always have wanted to do the ballon thing though. besides 190 ain't much more than a pair of nikes, shoes wear out, memories last forever

Hey Power, you never told me you were from the back woods?

Oldman is right. Yeah, it was a little pricey perhaps, but more than worth it for the memories I'll always have of it. Not to mention I got some great photos and video from it too.

Yeah Dan, I tend to keep those few facts under lock and key. Ive noticed a tendency to sterotype backwoods hicks into stupid people.

Did I mention my father was a machineing engineer??

The woods are a beautiful place and worth growing up in if you have parents that keep you balanced socially. It keeps you grounded and humble. Good family values type stuff....
