Question MP3/PC file problems.....HELP!!!

Seemingly overnight, all or most of my mp3's have been converted in something called a "vb script" file which is all of 12kb of the 2-7 megs they each used to be. Can anyone shed some light on to what happened to my MP3's or how I could convert them back to mp3's???

Any info is much appreciated....thank you

I could be wrong but aren't vb script files sometimes carriers for viruses??? Have you done a virus scan lately, and updated the defs??

If you computer converted your files to VBS scripts... that means you have a virus. 99% of VBS scrips are BAD! Scan your computer and get rid of them. Norton is really good at it. My dad and bro. had the same problem a few months ago.

Since you're online go to www.nortonweb.com and preform a free scan... good luck, man, that really sucks... I've been getting a virus a day almost, so I'm really glad I have Norton!!! The Klez virus is picking up steam...

Also, after you scan it... I dont know if the WebNorton will do it for you, but you can kiss those MP3's good bye. They are gone and never to be found again. You'll have to redownload them.

Thanks for the info guys, Matt was actually posting that question for me!

I cannot even fathom the kind of LOSER that creates a virus...I hope I never become the type of person that validates their existence by being an extreme ******* on such a large scale!!

As for a fast connection, I do have one...Just signed up for cable modem the other week, that's actually how I got the ones I have already...the oddest part is that 1/2 of the files are gone...some of the songs in my winamp play perfectly ??

Oh well, time to start picking up the pieces!

Well found the virus...its called "Loveletter", and printed out all this wierd code that had some creepy message about Colombian liberation within it...

Anyways, so it quarantined almost 2,000 files, including ALL my jpgs, bmps, gifs and mp3s...my question for you computer buffs is...how come Winamp will still play some of the files that Norton designated as infected and irrepairable??

Not that I'm complaining but just curious...

Thanks for all the helpful advice!

I don't know... My bro's winamp still played the MP3's that were in his palylist, but he could not add to it or creat a new one.

Maybe winamp was programed by a Colombian
