Yeah, I've seen that before, if I'm not wrong, there's a small company that does the conversions, after all, isn't Mazda part of Ford?? ~Brian

yeah mazda is owned by ford, remember the ford courier small pick up it was a mazda, just like gm owns isuzu, awesome miata. ;) :D :D :D :D

With the torque involved with that motor in a car that light, if he could ever go anywhere when he nails it, that thing will haul donkey!! Even if the 5.0 is bone stock. What does that car weigh, 1500 lbs soaking wet with a full tank?

That right there is a "Monster Miata."
They make one with a blown 5.0, that is just scary. Check this out for more info. http://www.v8miata.com/Default.asp |

I used to work at a Mazda dealership. When those "monster Miata's" first started out in Cali I had every kid in New England calling me about that.
|
when did they start that? ...is it a recent thing or an old thing? ...was it really popular? ...I've never even heard of it until just now...
|
That started about the second or third year of miata production. Another thing up in New England (Actually more in maine) there is a guy in maine that puts 5.0's in Volvo's. D"OH !!!!!
|
I'm gonna think twice the next time I'm beside a Miata at a red light.
|
that's just a guy with way too much free time... absolutely insane...
|
Ive seen a bunch of those over the past few years. Pretty damn cool. I bet it throws alot of the handling balance off though.
Hmm Modern day Sunbeam Tiger? :D :D |

too bad you can only fit roughly a P215 tire in there due to the Miata's tiny wheel wells.
Hehe....car that short with that much power.....can you say oversteer.:D |
That car doesnt fit the definition of "ricer".
The 5.0 shoehorned into a Miata is old news, they have been around for many years. Im suprised that most of you havent heard of it before. I believe there is a kit available to do it yourself. I like it, if I had the time and the money, I would build one. The Miata is a great car to begin with, and what way to make it better than that... GM owns 50% of Isuzu, and has very little to do with actual Isuzu vehicles (they might use a few GM parts these days, if any at all) and has gained basically nothing out of the partnership, which is attributable to GM's poor management. Ford doesnt completly own Mazda, but has a "controlling interest". |
