I hate banks
To make a long story short, I have been trying to secure funds in order for me to buy out a carburetor rebuilding business. I checked my bank account online last night, and it said there had been a substantial deposit. I was on cloud nine. I tried to go to sleep 3 times, and couldn't do it. Well, I just came down and checked the account again, and the deposit has been withdrawn. Apparently someone deposited money into my account by mistake, and corrected it.
It's like finding a winning lottery ticket, and then finding out the ticket expired yesterday. Suddenly I'm very tired. Take care, -Chris |
that sucks, but where did you think the money came from? i would want to know:confused:
|
Long story.
I guess I knew better anyway, but I allowed myself to think that the funds had been approved, and deposited into my account. Take care, -Chris |
sorry to hear that chris, it still suck's, i hope your week goes better, next week, cya:) oh btw just trying to get in my 7 post's for the day:D

Banks are evil
I've always seen banks as a necessary evil.
Sometimes as simply evil (they never make a mistake). That was a cruel experience and obviously upsetting. I hope you get the loan; that would at least help balance things out. Let us know. |
Banks suck.
In Canada they make Kazillions of $$$ a year in profit and still charge everyone up the yingyang for service. I wish people would rebel and not put up with that kind of thing, but I guess that's Canadians, right? |

I simply don't bank at places that cost me to do so. Here's where I currently bank: http://dcu.org No checking account fees. No minimum balance. Free billpayer. Free checks. No ATM fees. |
I know what you mean Chris, when Marty was overseas while he was in the guards, he has told me they shorted his pay so there would be another deposit,,ok well there was so I figured pay off some small bills that way when he came home he could take some time off from work and relaxe well it did happen that way he got to relaxe but the bank dep. the money and I wrote the checks and next thing I knew the checks started to bounce so I called the bank of course had to go there in order to get it straightend out...anyway, they had deposited someones income tax in my acct. then took it out without any notice to me and guess what bounce, bounce, I was so pi**ed...well since they made the mistake they paid all the charges I was getting from the checks and I got it straighted out...but they tried to make me FEEL bad cause they had to fire the girl that did it...Yea I felt bad but da** she put me through he** ok this is long, well hope all works out for you and you get the loan..keep us posted..Odie

banks= p.i.t.a.
Of corse I have a story too!
Last year, when I renewed my subscription to 5.0, I wrote them a check for $11. something....anyways... I got a call from the bank telling me I need to make a deposit!!!! I'm like WTF??? I new I had $$ in the bank. Evidently the bank cleared the check to 5.0 magazine.....FOR OVER $1,100!!!!!!!!! I came unglued!!!! Needless to say I had a few checks bounce, and the bank DID eat the cost of all the insf. check charges! |
Here is an idea: If your bank is so bad, it's very simple to go to another.
Look, bankers are human too you have no idea what they go through day in an day out (ever had a bad day at work?) or maybe you weren't able to read a note or instructions someone SCRATCHED on paper (that they didnt want to write anyway?) or how 'bout this one; "Well if you people just do your job this wont happen!!" With that said; the dentist, post office, bank, PTA meetings, repair shop, Court & the inlaws are just some places some of us just don't want to deal with - but thats life. So ease up on them a little. And yes, I do understand we all work hard for our money and to have someone treat it like dirt sucks bad to say the least ! But when they make good on the mishap, just take a step back and let it go . I mean, hey, did ya ever offer to fix a problem at work an your boss just went on & on & on & on about it till ya wanted ta knock the liv'n**** out of him only to "smile N choke it down" even though you were not at fault? |
Letting it go
induction:
It appears that you missed the point of this forum, as well as PKRWUD's post. When people at institutions we have to deal with and that are important to our life - like banks - screw up, it causes a great deal of anxiety and unnecessary frustration as well as frayed nerves while we attempt to straighten it all out. Bounced checks - due to the bank's mistake - can be a real hassle and the bank 'making good' on them is no favor, it's their error that caused the problem to begin with. Modern life can be difficult; making a living, personal relationships, social obligations and so on all eat up our time and energy. When we're faced with an unnecessary problem due to incompetence or inattention to detail on someone else's part, it's frustrating and eats up even more of our time and energy, just to fix a problem someone else created due to their error. This forum is one place for folks confronted with these problems to vent. If the threads bore you, skip them. Don't wag your finger and, in effect, tell folks to 'deal with it'. That's useless. You deal with your problems your way, others will deal with them their way, and this forum may be an outlet for some to do that. So what? On the internet, we're basically anonymous so you have no idea of what some of our members who post here have been through or may be going through in their lives. Some may have problems you couldn't even begin to handle, so don't assume that everyone is just dandy and that they can simply 'deal with it' whenever a problem is thrust on them by anothers' mistake. Perhaps that's easy for you to do and that's fine, but you can't know what other's are already 'dealing with', so I would advise you not to attempt to lecture anyone as to how to cope. You - nor I - simply don't have enough information to do that and if they want to complain, why is that a bad thing? It isn't, as far as I can see. Most of us 'let it go' all the time, but a little complaining and venting on an open internet forum won't hurt anyone and may be just what someone needs to help them 'let it go'. So, take your own advice: let it go. |

induction-
Easy fella. I'm not saying bankers suck, I was just venting. Someone somewhere made a mistake that happened to coincide with something I was hoping for. I never would have spent any of the funds without first verifying them. I've made that mistake before. I completely funded my bank's Christmas party in 1994 with the fees they charged me because of mistakes they made. No, this time it was just an emotional let down. A big one. Mr 5.0 hit the nail on the head; I was just venting. If I had been slaming anyone specific, you would have known. Take care, -Chris |
The thing that bothers me the most is the ATM charges. Basically, the banks make a complete killing on them. They have been confronted, and limited with them, but the absolutely refuse to give them up. Simply because they make soooo much profit off them.
Regardless, if the banks aren't hittin you, somebody else will be. Hehehe. |
Well Mr 5.0 are you a lil tense today are what? As for the point of this forum no I didn't "miss it". You see maby just ,maby if you read YOUR post/reply ya know the part about "Wag your finger & tell folks to deal with it ". It may appear you need to look in the mirror! If venting is the point of this forum then I did no wrong . Its how I feel . So why is it you feel the need to be big man on the soap box ? Look you have my respect and I'm shure that of meny others I look at some things in a different light because you do bring so much to the room (I me that in a good way) So Debate, vent ,laugh, learn ,teach, cry,or just visit life will go on thats what i mean by let it go. PKRWUD I ment no harm nor did I attempt to take a shot at anyone sorry :) . Maby if I was to attempt to write a "BOOK" on "EVERY "subject posted some people may better understand the point of this forum an that there soapbox may need a once-over Anyway, sorry about the screw up by the bank thats sucks and I wont screw up your account anymore K lol. Dam* all I wanted to do is vent a lil on the subject but somehow ................ guess I better just let it go.

Threads like these keep me on the edge of my seat...Not completely obnoxious, but on the brink....and I love the hints of sarcasm every once in a while....very entertaining....Thanks, guys.:D :p ;)

Even though it wasn't an extremely intense thread, by any means, I thought I'd just try to lighten it up a bit.
Tireburner did his part too, lol.:D |
Clarifications
induction:
Your post appeared to me to be telling folks here to stop complaining and we're getting a lot of that lately. Too much. There seems to be a misunderstanding about the fact that the Blue Oval Lounge forum is meant for just that; venting, complaining and whatever one wishes to post about. PKRWUD can take care of himself but as administrator I feel it's my place to make the case when I see a trend that seems to find fault over others posting valid complaints and that was the point of my message to you, which - I thought - was clear. I don't want members to start to feel that if they complain about something in their life, others will jump on them and tell them to 'deal with it'. I simply gave you the same advice you gave PKRWUD. Obviously you didn't care for it, and so, I assume my point was made. As for me, it's obvious that I have strong opinions on most everything and no, I don't write in shorthand or slang so it takes more than a few sentences to express myself. I assume those who are poor readers or easily bored will simply ignore my posts and those who are interested will read them. Please don't read my messages and then make snide remarks about the length. Simply respond to the point, if possible. If you can do so in a few words, fine. If not, take the space you need. I do. I'm a very fast reader, so a 'long' post takes me less than 90 seconds to read. No big deal. As for complaining, well, I have to admit that I'm getting a bit weary of being accused of being called things like 'a big man on a soapbox' every time I express an opinion that someone doesn't like or feels somehow offended by. It gets old. Over the five years that I've been on this forum I've been accused of being a Nazi, having a dictator complex, thinking I know everything, refusing to debate someone's absurd argument, being arrogant, being stupid, having a big ego and many other variations on the same theme. I'm used to it now and I don't mind as much as I once did (being told you're an idiot and on an ego trip a hundred times will do that ) but most of the folks who make these kinds of comments can't argue their point or simply don't like being told they may be wrong about something. Too bad. Everyone doesn't think like you - or me - as the case may be, and the fact that others call you or I on our opinions or actions is not an attack on our character but should be seen as an opportunity to convince the other person of our position. Some, like Unit 5302 , PKRWUD and a few others here do that effectively and I admire them for it. You may have noticed that Dan and I don't tolerate flaming and useless name calling on these boards and it's clear that the site is better for it. Many newer members have told us this. That's also why I encourage members like Unit 5302 who has almost as many opinions as I do and usually differs with me to some degree. He can be obnoxious but he'll also consider another point of view and argue with it effectively. When Kell mutes the sarcasm and sharp tone, he's very effective as well as helpful. (hint hint). In any case, be aware that I'll be posting my opinions here for some time to come and you may simply ignore them or respond to them as you wish, but despite the length, I'll try to be civil if not always smiley-face polite. I only ask that others here do the same and if anyone has a need to vent, please do so, within the bounds of good taste, of course. |

Listen too yourself your ranting about what YOU are guilty of. Don"t ASSUME you know what that does. Look I tried to tell you that I may have been misunderstood an ment no harm ,.But no" here comes the soap box" Point the finger at yourself for a change. Man dont give yourself a stroke.

Deal with it, again
Quote:
In any case, your incoherence on this post makes my point. Those who cannot make a convincing argument simply name call and flame those who do. Your hysteria is just another example of the all-too-common refusal of some folks to have a civil discussion when someone challenges your actions or your point of view. It's rather sad. Oh well, I tried....man. |

I had a bank lose $4000 before and they told me they couldn't do anything about it because I told them my sister also had my ATM pin #! I had given it to her in an emergency situation and when I went in to find out where my money was they asked if anyone else had the code to my card, I said yeah my sister. They told me there was nothing they could do about it!!! I had to swallow $4000 bucks because my sis had my pin # in case of emergency. I was not happy and didn't use banks for a long time after that.
|
Well why dont you show all of us where the "name calling and flame" FIRST started? Now remember the key word is FIRST then show to whom it was directed. Your reply will make for a littlt "crow pie" im shure that is if yor ego can stand it .lol

'Deal with it', again and again and again
Calm down fella, your indignation is affecting your spelling.
If you or anyone else can read my initial post to you and call it 'flaming' or name-calling then you have a very warped idea of what those terms actually mean. My post was carefully worded and civil in every respect. You apparently took the phrase 'finger-wagging' and have blown it up into some imagined insult, as some folks tend to do whenever a negative word is used about anything they say or do. I'm sorry that you seem to be that sensitive to the mildest, most civil form of criticism. You must lead a sheltered life. Too bad. I find it amusing - and ironic - that whenever I assert my prerogative to make a criticism of anything posted here, I'm constantly (and instantly) accused of 'ego'. Why? Is it 'ego' to have a point of view different from someone else and say so? Why is that? Enlighten me. Enlighten all of us, for that matter. Meanwhile, I'm going out and will be offline until sometime Sunday P.M. While this contentious dialogue may be important to you, I find it tedious, as I'm sure others do too. In that light, you may want to contact me to call me names via PM, which I would appreciate, as this thread is getting pointless and unproductive. Thanks. |
Okay,
So what were we talking about?????????? Oh yeah, BANKS. Elliot Ness |
Pay attention bank tellers!
I only read about the first 5 posts, and that sucks PKRWOOD, but I've been on the other end of that, so think how the other guy felt when he checked his bank account balance and he had no money. It's a shady deal all around.
|
Perhaps this is a good time to tell Mr 5 0 that induction isn't a fella, but a girl?
Seriously though, what's your malfunction, induction? I can tell you right now that based on your posts here, you don't have a prayer of truely debating with many of the well informed members on the site. Your childish "I know you are, but what am I" posts are disrespectful of people who actually took the time to address your overly emotional responses. If you have a point to make, make it. Most adults can hardly stand dealing with the level of immaturity in your posts within this thread. |
Another humorous thread...
You people make me laugh!!! (I live a sheltered life, though, thanks!) As far as banks go, I feel your pain bro!! (keeping it simple) Mr 5 0, "I'm dyin' over here!" (john travolta voice) ...lost for words and I'm sure you're not suprised!:D -- still appreciate your input, though. Don't let that ego get the best of ya!;) Someone has to give you hell from time to time, challenge your intelect, whatever you wish to label it as. Broken english, bad english, ebonics... too much fun! Regardless, Samuel L. Jackson says "you a smart mother [expletive deleted]!!" Ryan, the xenophobe (you better know!) |

As for not having a prayer of being able to debate with those of you who fall into the category of 'well-informed'... I really must take my (debating) hat off to an individual so obviously well informed as to be able to point out as miniscule a detail as spelling. During any situation, at any given time, we must ensure that we do not let ourselves forget the importance of a well-rounded education. Mr. 5.0, your very own words speak quite loudly enough for themselves. As other well-informed people have been known to say: A THOUSAND FLIES CAN'T BE WRONG! I sincerely hope that this, my last retort, is more suited to your 'forum'. So, now... here's your chance to . . . be that person that you want us all to believe you are, the one who is clearly too much of an intellect to continue with posts that are now being described as little more than childish. Here's your chance to be the one to ... LET IT GO ! ! ! |
OK, correct me if I'm wrong. This is a Ford forum..why the hell is everyone letting everyone else get them stirred up over a thread about banks? Everyone is childish in this group!
Think about it...we all play with toys (more expensive ones granted), brag about our toys (can't tell me you never do eveyone does in one form or another), etc. Yes, I'm childish and immature I'll be the first one to admit but I also have fun in life. I know when to be mature and when I can horse around. Too many people here take everything too seriously! We're all here because we share one common interest, Mustangs. Mr.5.0, I can understand how some people may be offended by some of your remarks. Chill out some man...everyone is going to have different opinions there are some times it's just better to nod and try to see where they're coming from. I'm not saying you have to agree by any means. It's just the way you phrase some things. Induction, calm down some! I haven't been a member of this group long but I've been here long enough to see that no one is really trying to directly offend anyone. You also seem opinionated. Just listen and think about it some - don't let it tick you off. To everyone, I'm very opinionated too but I also try to be as open-minded as possible. For the most part this is a great forum with wonderful people but it would be so much better if I didn't have to wade through arguments to read anything intresting. Hey, if anyone needs to b*tch about anyone or vent heck, just PM me! I work as tech support for Gateway so I hear it all night anyway. Sometimes it would prolly be better just to vent to a bystander than post it out there. I'm on everyday if anyone wants to chat at all. Have a good one and remember think HAPPY thoughts! :D :D :D P.S. You can find me as Polara7777 on AIM, AOL, Yahoo and MSN. |
Allow me to retort:D
If any of us want to publicly vent, and maybe get a little frustrated in the process, I see nothing wrong with that. I'm not too terribly fond of people whispering behind each others back (figuratively speaking, of course). Just post it for everyone to read, everyone has their strengths and weaknesses, and not one person on this forum is perfect or "all-knowing". Say what you need to say and be done with it... let it be known! We are here to learn from each others mistakes, and challenge one anothers opinions on different topics. If we give each other hell from time to time, we learn more about each other, strengths and weakness, in time. I am an opinionated jerk sometimes, as can be any other person on this board. Flamboyant opinions, whether substantiated or illogical, get peoples attention... and then it's open discussion from there. I am not a fan of political correctness, tell it like it is for our own sake... learn from a mistake! The main idea is to not simply tell someone, "dude you ain't gotta clue" and go on your merry way... explain yourself to the best of your ability to make the other person understand where you are coming from. If they are upset with what you have to tell them, so be it. Let them think about it for awhile, and if they are a strong enough individual, they can either accept your constructive criticism or regress to childlike behavior (guilty) and start the name calling. Have a sense of humor about it if at all possible, laugh it off... And just wait for that individual that wants to tell you how much they know to make a mistake and give 'em hell. Have fun with it, and as easy as it is to get verbally nasty, try not to! Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah!!!!!! LET IT GO? ...that would just be too easy! So much "stuff" is f@*ked up because people just let things go... ...and yes, I am guilty. (basically, from what I can conclude, this forum consists of a collective group of bored individuals looking for something to pass the time). There are many other forums that are technical in nature, this is the "talk about whatever you want to" forum... please continue to do so. If you've made it this far into my rambling, check out RLS Racing and tell me what you think. I will be adding more pictures sometime next week... laters! |
Yeah I can see that... but the arguments are also making people like induction leave. I think that's a little much. I perfectly agree everyone has their own opinions. (Opinions are like a**holes eveyone has one.) But can't we discuss ours and other people opinions maturely?
Have a sense of humor! HAHA You can't look like me and NOT have a sense of humor! :D By the way damn fine looking stang! Good luck on the 10's. |
Letting it go, at last
O.K., this will be my last post on this particular thread, regardless of what anyone else posts from this point on. Enough already.
I'll give the courtesy of a response to those who posted to me, specifically, in reverse order. Ultraflow: I'm not bored. I have a full life, including a lovely wife and an active child. This website, specifically the forums, is a hobby for me and I enjoy it, when time permits. I have opinions and I express them. I explain my position in a civil manner, defend it and attempt to pursuade others to my point of view, usually unsuccessfully, as most simply circle the wagons and fire off insults and defensive diatribes, as you've seen. Having an articulated point of view that finds fault with another is usually always called 'ego' by the offended party. Why it's 'ego' to state a different position than another and defend it a civil manner is beyond me. I suspect it's sheer defensivness. Too bad but that's not a reason to abandon all rational thought when I see what I perceive to be a misguided or incorrect statement being posted here and respond to it. polara7777: This is a Mustang website but the Blue Oval Lounge is specifically intended for 'open' discussions, such as this one. I would like to think that we all have lives and opinions that transcend our cars. In order to be more than simply a 'car' site (and nothing more) we offer this forum, despite it's risks of generating controversy. Ironically, some of our biggest (aborted) flame wars have been over technical automotive issues,on the Windsor Power forum. Go figure. I assume that everyone is equal here and I refuse to write 'down' to anyone. I write pretty much the way I talk and I apologize to no one for that, despite the vague complaints posted. I do not think I know everything, by the way, and never indicated that attitude at any time. Some confuse an articulated POV with arrogance but that would be a misunderstanding of the difference between the two. I do use some forms of irony and cynicism when I respond to a particularly foolish or insulting post addressed to me and I believe that's fair in a spirited dialogue, assuming cursing and swearing and name-calling in general is avoided in the process. I have a fairly well-developed sense of humor and I've demonstrated it often on this forum, albeit sometimes in a muted, form of ironic satire or what I hoped was sly wit. Unit: Your post was perceptive and appreciated. Thanks for your contribution. Induction: Well, I've come to the end of the road with this rather silly misunderstanding. I'm sorry you were so upset by a simple reminder that we all have the option to vent here, that some folks do take things seriously and 'letting it go' is not the first option, although often the final one. I attempted to engage you in a rational discussion which you chose to ignore in favor of emotional and incoherent messages. Very well, I'll certainly be glad to let this subject 'go' and I'll trust that you'll continue to post on the site, but perhaps with a bit more forethought. Perhaps not. That will be up to you, of course. I'm tempted to simply close this thread at this point, as it seems to have run it's course, but in the interest of fairness and to avoid inevitible charges of being dictatorial, I'll leave it open for now although I won't post on this particular thread again. Remember, I'm always available via PM and regular e-mail, should anyone have anything they wish to comment on (with me) that they would rather not post on the public board. Thanks for the various inputs and the interest. Not sure what we actually learned here, but it was an interesting excerise in the First Amendment, if nothing else. |
Immature, ridiculously juvenile members of this forum are the reason I really don't come here anymore.
I belong to a few work-related forum sites, and on said sites, if someone carries on like a baby like a certain member of this site, they are banned - plain and simple. Mr. 5.0, you are obviously an intelligent, experienced ADULT. Why do you bother to entertain an egotistical child that shows his or her level of adeptness in the spelling and syntax usage of his or her posts? I wish the administrators would start using more extreme measures against some of those children. Then again, I think the cop bashing, bank bashing, people bashing in general, is rather inappropriate for a Mustang site anyway. There are members of this site, including me, who have been pushed away from this site by the immature ramblings of some lesser educated and quite ignorant members. Then again, we're talking about a group of people that bashes others based on a brand of vehicle they drive. Now that's the most absurd of them all. I could go on for great lengths about the stupidity I have read in some posts here, especially the ones that bash people based on their professions. Suggestion for those people: if you don't like cops, don't call the police. If you don't like banks (not Chris, because that was obviously not the true intent of his post) stash your cash under your mattress, don't like cabbies, walk...and so on and so on. |
Forgive me for getting back to the topic of origin of this thread, but those jerks added a $5 "service charge" to my monthly statement because of their error!
Looks like I'll be on the phone correcting this one. Take care, -Chris |

I am one of many members that spends a great deal of time in this forum. There is more than one aspect of my life, and as I've grown a little older, they've taken a back seat to some other things. I'm glad to have other topics around. |
PKRWUD, I know that must have been a sickening feeling to have your hopes crushed, I've been trying to think of some way for you to get the cash you need. $15k.. maybe a credit card is all I've come up with so far.
The others, how did this simple thread get so far out of hand?? Mr. 5.0, I've been here as long as you if not longer and all this ego talk is beyond me. I don't remember anyone saying that but I'm sure that it does, most likely by people that are passing through. To me it was obvious that induction works for a bank from her response. Hey, I got it... I don't care for the crap I go through with banks either.. Its a legal scam. Banks make way too much money for what they do. The ATM fees are over zealous. Its a rip off... Induction is obviously an employee(correct me if I'm wrong). I work for UPS and I've heard some bitchin' through the years on that, I work my *** off and if something didn't go right then I'm sorry, but I sweat until the salt lines my shirt. Someone even called me a "Walking Turd" on 3 different occasions. I don't appreciate it, but I didn't respond to it. There really is nothing 'I' can do about it. Things go wrong and that is what I read in inductions post, though it was abit forward. People do make mistakes and the world turns on that, in my eyes. Things go wrong and that keeps the world turning.. think about that the next time you call a repair man. As far as the folks here being bored, that struck a nerve with me. The people here are almost family! I respected the post right up to that point. These folks have been here a long long time, talking about mustangs(we all love them). Soooo we got to know each other.... bored?!?! (F'U) |
Ah, once again the mighty, all-knowing UNIT has spoken. Can't let anything go without throwing those rusted two cents in.
