I Need Some Information!
I'm thinking of putting a K&N airfilter on my Mustang, and I was wondering if someone that has already put one on their car could tell me if they really give you a noticeable difference in power?

they are supposed to add 2 to 5 hp ,i am not sure i am trying to trade for one myself,i guess someone who has one already can answer better i know i took off my air silencer,or in my days called a breather snorkel ,it helped a little,l8ter:confused:

It won't change the car. Maybe a bit better sound from the car, but not a noticeable change. .1-.2 in the quarter, if your lucky. It doesn't add much to a stock car.
You need some gears. Than you'll feel a big change. |
You mostly hear it in the sound.... YOU hear it more once you put the K&N filter and take the silencer off

K&N
A K&N air filter is a basic performace 'mod'.
It straightens out the airflow a bit and filters the air intake much better than a paper filter as well as giving you maybe one (1) HP, according to dyno tests I've seen over the years. Removing the fenderwell silencer (baffle) is actually worth more, almost 4 HP, and it's free, so if you do that and add a K&N, you get about 5 HP, total. A fenderwell cold-air kit is worth another 2-3 more HP over that. It's more for efficiency (and sound) than actual power, like plugs, wires and such. It's a start, although you won't win many races because you had a K&N and the other guy didn't. I have the baffle removed, fenderwell K&N and an aftermarket intake pipe (Mass Air to TB) that is supposed to be worth 2 HP more due to better airflow, so it's possible to gain up to 10 HP from air intake mods without touching the TB or intake itself. 8-10 HP (for about $200. total) isn't a huge deal but nice to have when you run a near-stock 5.0. It could help in a close race. |
Thanks ya'll!
