I "officially" dislike imports
Arrgh.........O.K., went to the track last weekend to make 2 passes to get my competition license. Well, it happend to be the Import Nationals weekend.
I thought, "Well, I know the folks on the site are always ragging about them but surely they aren't that bad". Geeez was I wrong. I get down there about 5:30 P.M., most had left but there were still about 20 or so. These idiots, man, they would drive in the pits (where no one was thank goodness) about 50mph and then yank there damn emergency brakes and go sliding all over the concrete. As if this wasn't to the coolest thing:rolleyes: they would rev the little fart cans to about 6000 and dump the clutch and do it all over again. I don't know how many times they about hit each other. The track opens back up at 8:00 p.m. so they can "show their stuff" to all the zit faced young wannabe Vin Diesels of tomorrow. I can only take so many 16 and 17 second fart shooters, no more for me, I don't care if I ever see another one. I pull up in my car and do my burnout. No kidding, these guys backed away from the fence like they were scared or something. Have they never seen (or heard) a real race car? What's worse is I nearly put mine into the guardrail (no kidding) because all of their street tires lifted the the good rubber off of the track. Needless to say, I loaded up and went home. You all are right, I should have stayed home, my stomach is still churning from that whole ordeal. |
Import idiots at the track
Sorry to hear about your totally negative experience with the imports and Vin Diesel wannabe's at the track but I'm surprised that you were surprised.
Although idiots do drive American V-8 cars too, most import drivers are all show, image and lame driving. The over-revving, 100 mph fly-bys after you beat one by 10 car-lengths on the street, the decals, fart pipes, absurd wings and on and on prove this every day and it's part of why there is so much animus between muscle-car drivers and import drivers (known to all as 'Ricers'). If the average Mustang owner/driver who mods his car and races it on the street and occasionally at the track can't stand these import idiots, serious racers like you, Kevin, simply cannot relate to them at all and are rightly offended and annoyed by them and their silly little cars and stupid juvenile driving. Sorry for your experience but it certainly drives home the reason for so much bad vibe between V-8 guys and import idiots like the ones you encountered (and probably frightened with a real car). Anyway, thanks for the story. |

Yep, to rice-boys anything that dips into the 14s is a god... I laugh SO hard when I hear that these morons are the latest "generation" of muscle car owners... Please... Thankfully, the rice boy cars (notice I didn't say imports in general), just like their clothes that are 10 sizes too big, backward\upside down hats, stupid walk, and lingo: "Yea Boyzzz, gonna get some NAAWWWZ when my phat Wendy's check gets in yo...." all of it will be gone in a while. It's all a fad, and it's all that it ever will be, the next generation of morons may be into driving bicyles with flowery baskets in pink underwear.... who knows.... I don't care, because I'll still be driving my Mustang... ;) (Hint to skinny, pimply faced suburban white kids trying to get the "image": You look stupid and unoriginal. You cry out "I'm a lemming that will follow any idiotic fad to be accepted because I have no self respect or any sense of self worth." Put on some clothes that fit, take that stupid-a@# ring out of your bottom lip, and go cut the lawn. Maybe your dad will up your allowance or something.) |
Yeah they are complete idiots. They act the same way at my track. I usually wait for them to come up to the fence to watch the cars launch. I've took mine to 6500 several times just revving it and watching them jump as if it scared them. Then i usually do a "friendly" purge in the air twice. Then it's all business. :)

Kevin, I'm suprised they let that kind of crap happen at the track. Down in Carlsbad they give you a little slip on your way in the has the rules. I don't have it handy but it ends something like this:
"...if you can't follow the rules, go race somewhere else. You have that luxury, we do not." If that was my home track I would go to the owners, because it is definatly a saftey issue. Unless, they think it is Darwinism at work. Only the smart ricers will live to race again. |
I was at the track tonight and there were alot of imports. There was one fast one. A mid 90's eclipse that ran a best of 13.0. I had respect for it so I went over to check it out. It was stripped...I mean to the metal...and he also had his little tv screen mounted in the dash. But it was still fast.
For the most part...the imports were slow. I race a early 90's Probe. It was blue with all kinds of "boy-racer" decals on it and the kid even had rainbow tint. I had a 2.4 60' and then missed third...but where was the probe?? He Still wasn't even close to me!!! He ended up running a 17 somehing. Woo Hoo 17's..What a PHAT ride yo! |
People like that ruined my favorite cruise spots. I can't enjoy a night of looking at cars while worrying about being hit by some jerkoff kid practicing unsafe manuevers with his gussied up econobox...

Cmon Hammer tell us how you really feel. Its ok, I understand, at the local track we have " Fast and Furious Friday nights " twice a month. I laugh every time I go. These ricers ( And I like hammer say not all imports ) are crazy. doing burnouts in the pits. Reving the weedeaters to god knows how many ear reinging rpm's just because they can.. " yeah yeah dog that sounds tight foo.." and Yes like Kevin, these morons back away from the fence next to the burnout box when a real car comes up. There are actaully a few moderatley fast STREET imports that come out, a couple Civics that run mid 7's on FRONT slicks ( which I still have a problem with in my own mind, slicks go in the back ) But these cars taht aare moderatly fast for street imports jsut fuel the fire for said pimple faced 17 year old backwards clothes wearing, pants to big I can see your skid marked underwear PHAT ( see what I did there ) fart can car havin morons...
Ahhh there im done. Brad |

Ahh, the joys of Import Night.
Been there, done that. Definitely irritating to no end. The last time I got in the middle of Ricer Crowd, some 17 year-old 100 lbs toothpick punched the windshield of his 'lude' (Prelude) because he ran a 16 second something or other... Of course his buddy says that it runs 13's all day - Yeeeaaaahhhh, rrrriiiiggghhhttt...and my wife's Taurus goes 12's... The kid just looked at me with the most confused look on his face. Stupidity at its finest. Take it easy, E |
Fiance is an import guy, he can't stand anything but. He still can't get over the fact that I have an American car, a mustang. LoL
He had I believe 8 Porsche's. (All old.) He bought his first one when he was 19, a 924. Anywho, when ever his car died, he'd just buy anotherone. He only has I believe 4 left, and one of em ready to go to the junk yard. His main car is an '87 928 S4 Porsche. K, the point of this post. He's planning to Rice out one of em. He has a huge engine, from a lamborgini (sorry, not sure on the spelling) that's waiting to go in. After that he's planning on adding anything to make it look rice. The point is to make people point and lagh and call it a rice, just before they get smoked. hehe He's already collecting stickers. Anyways, just thought it was funny, and thought maybe you'd get a kick outa it. And no he and I can't stand ricers, the point of this is to make fun of em. He has a webpage dedicated to it. When I find out what it is, I'll post it. |
In my book, Porche typically is not considered rice.
Of course anyone can rice out a fast car. But at the end of the day the car still looks stupid. |

No offence,
but these parts Chrome Dipstick Chrome Fan Blade Chrome Timing Chain Cover Crome Alternator Chrome Alternator Bracket shouldn't be considered engine specs, more like dress up. Plus they don't do crap for the engne hp. Sounds like he'll have one quick car when he's done! |
Stupid ricers, but don't worry guys. . . . some young people are making it threw the ricer fad with Muscle. I'm 17 and have a '69 Mach 1 with a 351 in it. This was my idea, and my favorite car. But to help me out said money to
Sam "I Need Money To Go Even Faster" D'Elia. =) hehehe..... Damn ricers, and I want to be Ricer Hater's Club- member # 4!! lol §am. |

Here's another link to more info about his car:
http://www.mechaps.com/odd/924Se/ BTW, he's 24. His last job was working for Universal Studios as a computer programmer. He got laid off a few months ago and decided to take a few months off of work. He wanted to work on this car during that time, but my Mustang keeps dieing. We've only been to make it to the place it's stored a few times. Right now the old engine's on the cherry picker, we're in the process of taking it out. |
tell him to invest into a couple decals sets ...it should increase his ricer's hp immensely ....

There's actually a "Ricer Haters Club"???
|
Yeah know, it's not the import cars themselves that give them a bad name in my book. What makes the term "ricers" imply something bad is that the majority of these "import" owners (supposedly into performance) don't know anything about cars.
Point of example: Someone that I used to work with that shall rename nameless, owns a Suburu. He's all into that car and imports, and thinks they are fast too. Now, some dude he knows is selling a Mustang that's in "ok" condition supposedly and that he was saying he might buy. In fact, he got all hot and bothered over the idea because it had a V8. That's all he knows, and so he thinks V8 (of any condition) equals FAST. Any ways, at the time he wanted to get the car from the guy for a day just to bring it over for me to "check out for him" and tell him what's what. I was busy at the time, so I couldn't be here. So, he's got the car for a few days and starts complaining to me and another guy that worked there (Aka: BlackVert00 - who has a 2000 GT Convertible) that it doesn't seem that fast and his Suburu seems faster. Well, he's told us this is a V8 Mustang and we're like "that can't be". Well, not unless the guys total screwed the motor. Even stock it a 5.0L Mustang should be making over 200 HP and 300 ft-lbs of torque and blow the doors off that 4-cylinder Suburu. In the end, what it turns out is that it's actually a 4 Cylinder Mustang!! The dude didn't even know the fricking difference! Even looking at the engine, he still thought it was a V8 until I got a real description from him of what the engine looked like and started laughing at him, telling him it was a flipping 4-cylinder Mustang! Any ways, he didn't buy it needless to say. I think that was good thing that it turned out that way, because someone like that shouldn't have a car with any real power any ways... :p In closing, it's a real bummer because knowing the guy personally he's actually a nice guy. He just buys into all that import nonesense and never will really learn anything having an import and hanging around nothing but other people that don't know anything either. Too sad. I know there must be some import owners out there that actually do know about cars, but unfortunately I've never personally met one (yet). |
|
Dan, that is an awesome story. I knew a guy who was into imports and knew about cars once. He had an integra he'd built up with his dad and set up for autocrossing. The car would run in the 12's with a 100 shot if memory serves correctly. Of course that was about 5 years ago when anyone modifying a car only wanted it to go fast.:D
Oh yeah, his dad had a '66 with a built 289 and cutouts. Maybe that was why his kid knew about cars.;) ...waiting to be lucky 13 in the club. |

Man, I used to get to goto the street races around here.
Well guess what? Not anymore, its broken up by the cops instantly everytime. WHY?!?! Ricers burning out and driving like idiots in the parking lot. Crashing into each other and other stuipd *** manuvers. I spoke to one of the cops breaking it up, and he said, u know we wouldnt have a problem with you guys being here, but all this burning out and driving like mad the merchants have complained. I got so angry seeing these idiots drive around I want to just pull them out of their car and beat the ******* **** out of them, arg, but I cant. Skyler |
