If you had to buy an Import
What would you buy if you had to? Either asian or european. lets see
1. BMW M5 2. Toyota Supra 3. Acura Integra Type R (i dont know why but i like them for some reason) Of course there are plenty of muscle cars that I would rather have but if you HAD to have one what wolud it be? |
Oh...ok...if my Mustang was ailin'...
Porsche 911 Turbo BMW M5 Audi RS4 Those should tide me over until I could afford to get the Pony up and running again :D. --nathan |
A Porche Carrera GT or whatever the fastest Porche is.
And my B/F would pick a 20 B equipped 93 RX7 R 1 |
i got me an import..92 dodge colt..dropping a 2.0 turbo talon motor in it with a big turbo(big16g) alot of boost, and a liquid cooled intercoller
s l e e p e r |
if it had to be european.........what ever the fastest porsche is
if it had to be japenese..........300zx twin turbo |
If i had to buy an import sports car here are the vehicles i'd probably buy:
European: Porsche 928 (RWD, front engine, 50/50 weight, etc. - The DOHC 5.0L V8 from i think '87+) Any M-series BMW...they're all really nice Either the new 911 Carrera Turbo 4, or the (i think) 977, which is so fast and emissions bad that it's illegal in the united states to import. Japanese: Toyota Supra Twin Turbo Nissan 300zx twin turbo Mitsubishi 3000GT twin turbo (notice a theme yet) Honda S2000 ...i might also add that if you look closely you'll notice ALL of the vehicles i selected are either rear wheel drive or all wheel drive. This also is in no way a reflection of cars that i could AFFORD...but you never mentioned that in the post :D |
ummmmm...let's see
1)Aston Martin V-12 Vantage 2)Porche 911 Turbo 3)TT Nissan Skyline |
Hmmmm...
To choose but one? European: Ferrari 456GTA. Asian: 300ZX TT |
European 2-door: Diablo
European 4-door: Bugatti EB112 Japan-sucksthebigone-ese: You can't make me. I would walk first. Take care, -Chris |
"Japan-sucksthebigone-ese: You can't make me. I would walk first."
LOL thats funny. I forgot about Ferrari. How much I would love a Ferrari 355. :D |
Top 5 in no order would have to be
1. Lexus IS-300 2. Subaru WRX 3. Mitsubishi Ecplise GS-T (my friend has one and its pretty fast for an import) 4. Any Porshe 5. Integra type r |
'86 1/2 Nissan Hardbody pickup...Z24....106 bhp....:p
McLaren F1 Isdera Commendatore Italdesign Cala Lotus GT1 |
Honestly if i had to drive an import it'd be a Tacoma Prerunner.
But i think you mean cars. Then i'd have to consider something that is sort of in the range of the price of my stang. Asian: Subaru WRX, Lexus IS300. European: BMW 3 Series. |
Ferrari 550 Maranello
|
Import
Lotus 7 Domestic Harley-Davidson Fatory-Five Cobra do those count? |
Ferrari F-50 or 355
bmw 535 mercedes rag top :D |
E 55 Benz
360 Modena Ferrari (With the F1 style paddle shifter on the steering cloumn Or if you mean more attainable daily driver types I'd get a VW corrado VR6 and if I had to go to Japanese it would be a Nissan, the only Japanese automaker I respect. |
Supra Turbo
Rx-7 Touring 911 Turbo |
Ferrari 360 Modena*
Honda S2000* Toyota Celica GT-S Acura RSX BMW Z8* Cars with * too expensive. But if I won a really large lotto the Modena would be ordered immediately! |
Import car choices
Well, we all want Ferrarri's, Porsche's, Mercedes's and BMW's along with Supras, etc.
Talking reality choices is something else. You can't beat a Honda for reliability and it's affordable if not inspiring. I recommend them to a lot of folks who need a family car they can depend on. In the 'sport car' realm, not much is available for the price of a new 'Stang but a Mazda Miata is fun if not fast and a used BMW M3 or a Lexus GS430 would fit the bill, although only if repairs costs were not an issue. Just thinking about how few affordable, fast cars are actually available for a price the average person can pay makes me appreciate the Mustang all the more. |
Europe- F40 farrari
Japan- Toyota Supra Turbo (MKIV) |
Mr 5.0 I don't believe the reality stipulation was made in this instance. Had it been made, the choice for many of us is obvious, none. We prefer the Mustang.
Now if this has to be a reality decision. European - Volkswagen Corrado Asian - Doesn't change. Nissan 300ZX TT |
I made this thinking it to be a wish and hope list lol. As many people have already done. Alot of 300ZX's and Supra turbos I have noticed.
|
another selection for a Supra here. a Supra TT anyway.
next would be an RX-7, and the fastest Porsche? the brand new Porsche RufTurbo; 520 hp. niiiice. |
Non-Mustang wish list
O.K., if it's just a wish-list of cars I want in my stable when I win Powerball then please take my order for the following:
Porsche 911 turbo 12.3 et/ 193 top end - $118,000. Aston-Martin Vanquish V-12 12.9/190 - $238,000. Ferrari 550 Monanello 12.7/188 - $225,000. Lamborghini Diablo VT 12.2/208! - 300,000. There! 4 foreign, fantastic, very fast cars for under a million. Easy. No Japanese stuff in the bunch, either. This was fun! |
Yes, I love doing these wish list thingys.
I made one with all the cars that I would ever want in 10th grade once but I can't seem to find it. Geez Mr. 5.0, you sure did your research! lol. ;) Later |
Okay, I'm gonna keep this short and simple, so I don't end up writing a dream car list -- Cause just give me a McLaren F1 LM and that'd be all for me.
Anyway, I'd buy a Toyota Supra TT. |
If I won the lottery: Farrari 550 Maranello
If not: TT RX-7 WRX TT Supra TT Skyline actually I'd get a civic ex and throw on 300 lbs of body mods and thin-*** tires that don't get sh*t for straight line traction, that would be badass plus it would be slower than when I got it. Dang, I don't even want a crustang anymore. Just kidding, get it? AHHHHHHHHH hahahahahahahahahahaha |
Actually, I just realized I couldn't afford any of the cars I listed if I didn't win the lottery, so just kidding.
|
Since I believe there is a difference in foriegn and Exotic cars. I would say exotically I would chose probably the Porsche 911 or Carerra Convertible. As for just a foriegn car, I wouldnt have one. I wouldnt have a jap toilet if I didnt have to. Nothing is American anymore, and I know even Domextic cars have parts made overseas but you'll not catch me driving anything that isnt a FORD. Unless it's of course the Porsche.
Brad |
Already have one....
I have a 1978 Datsun 280Z that I have had for 17 years. I love it and would not trade it for anything. I love my mustang but I have only had it 4 months so lets give it time.
KG88GT here KG78Z eslewhere |
which car to buy
definitely european, and definitely VW. i drive a 2000 jetta 1.8turbo thatll smoke alot of stuff. ive raced almost every v6 in town worth speaking of and about 3 gt's and won all of em. now most of that of course is driver but its still a quick car. plus the new ones have 180 (30 more than me) or you could go vr6. either way, vw makes a great car. and if youre looking at spending m5 money... the audi a6 2.7 turbo is the way to go. get the tiptronic manumatic transmission and i promise 9 times out of 10 youll smoke that m5, hands down, its all driver and with that transmission, you wont even have to try

I was thinking like Mr 5.0. At first I was under the impression that it ment if you could not buy the Mustang you could afford, then what Import would you buy. But then my thinking is somewhat on the reserved side.
Lets see. Hmmmm...Tuff one. European: The new Mini. Asian: Hmmm....Do the Japenesse make bicyles???? Now on the anything goes side of it. European: Ferrari Anything..That newer Ferrari which ressembles the old Dino's. I dont know the model or anything. Asain: Hmmm....umm....Monster Miata (Still has ties to Ford. hehehe I cheated). |
Yes the japanese make bicycles, however most of them are manufactured in taiwan, same as most american bicycles. There are still quite a few american made and manufactured bicycles though. Shimano, which is a japanese company is the brand of component (shifters, wheel hubs, deraillurs, etc.) that you will find on 90 per cent of all bicycles in the USA no matter where they were made.
|
Asian:Acura NSX
European:Ferrari (ANY) American: well i think this forum says it all Scott |
the only import i would buy is an american car that has been exported for sale in another country :D
bikes are a different story. i can't stand american bikes...go figure? |
European: TVR Cerbera
Japanese: Nissan Skyline R34 GT-R |
Porsche all the way
Porsche GT1:D |

Wow, hmmm... I love alot of European cars. I stay away from Asian vehicles really.
The fastest Porsche that is street legal in North America is the Porsche 911 GT2. That is actually my favorite import car (Got a poster of her right behind me. I pulled out the Digital Camera to show you so check the pick out. =) I love the McLaren F1 McLaren F1 that car is bad asssss (Check out the link), I love all Ferrari's. My favorites the F-50, F-360 Spider, & the 550 Maranello. I also love the new Lamborghini Murcielago, I seen it at the Toronto International Car Show and I couldn't stop loving it. I also like the Diabo's but there no longer in production. I love the Maserati Spyder, that is also a nice car. =) The BMW Z8, it's a pretty nutty looking car. Well I must jet but if I think of some more nice cars. Favorite Honda, the Odyssey, it being the most powerful Honda. =) Yes I do know of the S2000, The Odyssey has 89lb-ft of torque more. =) Let's all point and laugh at Honda. =) I swear I need to find out a riced out Odyssey. =) |
Supra or a twin turbo gen 3 RX-7, the MR2's are kinda cute, but I would much rather take the money and just buy a new 'stang.
|
Nice to see the RX-7 listed!
My choice for Asian should be obvious. European would be the BMW Z8. And if I do get around to buying an American car (other than the '65 Fairlane) it'd be a 'Stang.
|
1. R32 Skyline GTR
2. BMW Z8 3. Believe it or not any American Muscle car (Stang, Viper, Vette etc) they're all imports for us lol |
I'm not much for Asian Imports but am a sucker for German engineering. My picks, on a reality level, would be:
1. A classic VW bug and not one of those crap Super Beetles either. Those aren't real bugs. 2. VW Corrado preferably the G60 variant (Supercharged 4 banger) but I wouldn't mind the VR-6 model either. (6 banger duh) 3. VW Transporter Westfalia. NOTHING says cool like an old Westy! Like Veedubs much? No not at all! :D |
I would probably take the new Ferrari Enzo, Porsche 911 GT2 or GT3, or the Carrera GT. I'd go for the new Lamborghini Murcielago. On the less supercar side I would love to have an M3, and second choice a S4. :D
§am. |
If my Mustang was down then I'd be back behind the wheel of the 4-Runner, or my '85 'yota pickup (if I can get the durn thing runnin).
Them ole' 'yotas are hard to kill anyways. Put a timing chain in them every 80,000 to 100,000 miles and you'll be fine. Daniel. |
