If you've gone drag racing before get in here! TOP 50 LIST
I'd like to get a TOP 50/100 MW's Fastest Cars "STICKY" thread that lists the who's who on this site as far as best ET goes.
Of course, there will be some strict guidelines to follow to make the list legitimate... I can take care of keeping the list updated and keeping track of everyone's personal best ET in a Ford powered vehicle (not sure if it should just be mustangs, but this is a mustang site afterall, I'm open to suggestions) I, or Dan McClain, can start the new thread and figure out a nice title for it.... To get on the list, you will have to send me a timeslip and picture of the car with the numbers that match the timeslip, I'd like to get some feedback from everyone on how to do this, that is why I've started this particular thread so we can possibly sort out the details and see if this idea will fly. Maybe set the thread up in the Racer's Clubhouse, that section doesn't see much traffic and I think a thread like I've mentioned would liven it up a bit there. Let me know... I think it would be kind of neat, especially for this summer when we all start hitting the strip again. Now would be a good time to get the ball rolling and get the details sorted.... just a wild idea that came to me while working in the garage all night, lol. |
Mines the fastest cause i dont have any slow times :D
|
In a Ford, huh? I suppose it has to be in a straight line, too?
Leaves me out. :) Take care, ~Chris |
my LX has ran a bes of 12.13.....................in the 1/8th:p

Cool, I should have something to submit in February.
very cool, |
that is an excellent idea
I thought I heard some talk of that before from Dan but nothing ever came of it. I don't have any slips to submit but I would like to see where everyone else sits. |
Please send applications to: rls302cid@hotmail.com
Also, please title the e-mail message "TOP 50 LIST" ...I'd like to make it a top 100 list, but it doesn't appear we're anywhere close to that at this point. I'd like to format the list like this: 1/4 ET @ MPH.....1/8 ET @ MPH.....60ft......username.....aspiration/CID/weight/stick or auto (what kind) Start submitting applications whenever you get a chance... Thank you, -Ryan |
...forgot to "Rate this Thread." ;)

Great idea
Great idea.
Although, should we make categories such as... Street tires 1) N/A 2) One power adder 3) Two power adders (ok, anyone on street tires w/2 adders is CRAZY!) :D Drag Radial 1) N/A 2) One power adder 3) Two power adders Slicks 1) N/A 2) One power adder 3) Two power adders Or something like that? That was just off the top of my head as I'm sitting here in my office. That way you can see how you stack up against folks in your 'class', if you will. I like the info your asking for too. The other issue is that for me (not that it really matters as I'm a mid-12 sec drag radial car N/A), is that I have all my timeslips, but no pics of the car at the track with the numbers painted on it that would allow you to match it up to the slip. I guess I'll have to wait until next spring to get you a pic & slip. Just my random thoughts. ;) E |
Thanks for the contribution and your thoughts Eric...
for the time being, we could simply add the category "tires" to the end of the list: 1/4 ET @ MPH.....1/8 ET @ MPH.....60ft......username.....aspiration/CID/weight/stick or auto (what kind)/tires (what size/type) ...that is, until I've recieved enough entries to make dedicated 'classes' as you've mentioned. ;) As for the picture, yes, you're going to have to wait until spring... we'll see how things go. I'd like to keep the list as legit as possible. I may use a * to classify the entry as "not validated at this time" or something along those lines, cool? Again, thanks for the contribution and I appreciate your feedback. -Ryan |
Am i eligible to enter this?
|
this is just another idea
either break it up into categories or put a note on the end of each entry, stating whether or not it is a dedicated track car. |
Don't make me embarress all of you racers
 Don't make me pull out my speed defying timeslip:rolleyes: :D

gee ryan, i've seen a post like the "top 50" before somewhere:)
good (stolen) idea though :D New combo is almost together, so I'll have timeslips and pictures for you in early april -drew |

Anyone who has a picture of their car with numbers to match the timeslip is eligible, btw. ...if you don't have a digital cam or scanner to send the info electronically, contact me via PM and I'll give you an address to send the info in the snail mail. Good call Conman, about the street/strip, drag only label... I could add that to the list, but I would think it might be obvious with the type of tire being used... what the hell, I can add that if you like. :) ...I'm just trying to keep things simple. 1/4 ET @ MPH.....1/8 ET @ MPH.....60ft......username.....aspiration/CID/weight/stick or auto (what kind)/tires (what size/type)/duty (street/strip or drag) The more I think about it, the more I'd like to keep everyone on a single list... that's why I stated we could do a TOP 100 list if I receive enough entries. ;) I might drop the 1/8mi. ET @ MPH category to keep the entries to one line of info... cross that bridge when we come to it, it's early yet. I have yet to hear from Jeff Chambers or Dan McClain... I sent Jeff a PM, but not Dan yet. Later... |
Throwing in another curve ball
What about guys like Dark_5.0 that race at 3,000 above sea level? Will you use the NHRA formula for conversion?
Not trying to be a pain, just something you may want to consider. E |

:D ...Good thinkin' and, again, I do appreciate the contribution. I have mixed emotions on that particular topic. What's fair is fair, so I have to consider it. I'll get back with y'all on that one. Later |
Just a thought, but i think you should leave the numbers as they are, rather than converting them, and just put a footnote number by the entry, and list their track elevation at the coresponding number at the bottom of the page. The question afterall is "how fast did you go", not "how fast would you have gone (if you were at a sea-level track)".
Just my opinion. Take care, ~Chris |
Thanks Chris (do you ever get sick of me saying that to you???) LOL! :D
...that's just the opinion I was looking for, and THAT is how it will be done. When submitting entries, it is up to the entrant to add what elevation the track is at, along with a source that I can contact to verify the info, like a webpage link or a phone number for the track. Again, I'm serious about this list... I think it would be very worthwhile and makes for healthy competition and motivation to go quicker/faster. This list should really "light up" when the spring/summer comes around... I just might have my hands full, but I'm up to the task and have been thinking about it alot here recently. |
I could care less whether you use an elevation conversion or not since my local track is around ~900 ft. above sea level and therefore doesn't really impact ET's much at all...plus I will probably be on page 3 or 4 of the top 100 list! :D :D :D
I'm just throwing things out for you to consider. Also, many other sites I visit have a top 10, 50 or whatever list. I always wondered why we didn't have a list too? E |
I agree that elevation shouldnt be considered when naming the 50 fastest.
Trust me even at 3000ft I will hold my own. LT headers, X-pipe and 4.30 gears are fixing to be installed on my 01' slobra. Hopefully my LX will make the cobra seem slow by comparison. Hears a twist though, in case of a tie the guy with the highest elevation gets the win;) _________________________ This is exactly what this site needed, I think it will make it alot more fun. And yes, this site needs a list.... just need some assistance and cooperation from the Pres. Hopefully he'll see the thread and act accordingly. -Ryan |
I just hope I can make it in the top 50.
I have a feeling that once the word speads people will register with fast cars just to post there slip and be in the top 50. I think the cars will range anywhere from 9 to low 12 second ET's. I also think it shouldnt be limited to just mustangs it would be more interesting if the GM and import members could make the list too. Man, I am getting motivated already, :D |
I'm too slow for top 50.....and most likely top 100 also.....guess I won't go through the trouble of scanning slips then....
This is a great idea, I'm looking forward to seeing the list and watching the competition..... |

This isn't my deal, and I'm not telling anyone what to do, but, at least to start out, make it simple, but personal. This will be a great addition to this website, but let's make it FOR this website. Know what I mean? My nickle. Take care, ~Chris |
I agree since it is a mustang website it should be a top 100 list for mustangs only. Start out simple with now rules just to get it going. The fastest 100 or 50 cars make it nomatter what they run. Then when it gets going and has more developments add categories and stuff. It will just make it alot easier to get things gooing. Start out simple and move on from there. It is a great idea and i can't wait to see it happen.
On a side note in a couple of years i plan on being in the top ten. :D just wait and see. |

I'm in. This spring i will finish my car up and should lay down some good times. I'm looking for a low 11 to a high 10 NA, and a low 10 if I decide to hook up some juice. It won't be the fastest, but it might make the list.
wade |
Please feel free to start submitting your entries folks... I need to get some preliminary data together for a decent start. Even if you're not proud of your current best, posting it will be all the more incentive to improve. :)
I need a pic and a timeslip.... or, if you want, just send me your timeslip and when your times improve, send a pic with the timeslip to make the update legit. Sound good? |
now i can't wait to get out there in the spring when my Cobra is done and ready to go.
my question on this would refer to street cars and full-out drag cars. i don't know who has what but will there be a street list and a seperate drag car list? now i have no idea who has a drag car and who doesn't, i was just throwing the question out there. but the idea is really well thought out, should help liven this place up even more. |
...please see the proposed format Tod ;)
1/4 ET @ MPH.....1/8 ET @ MPH.....60ft......username.....aspiration/CID/weight/stick or auto (what kind)/tires (what size/type)/duty (street/strip or drag) I would like to keep everyone on one list to keep things simple, and organized. Upon viewing the list, it will be obvious, I'm hoping, what duty the car serves primarily. Make sense? :) -Ryan |
absolutely, sounds fine to me :)
|
What do you mean when you say you want a pic and a timeslip? A picture of the car with the race numbers still on it, and a scanned pic of the timeslip too? Or just a pic of the car on any ole day, and then a copy of the timeslip?
drew is confused:) still in awe after all the amazing things I just saw at the PRI show |
A picture of the car with the race numbers still on it, and a scanned pic of the timeslip too?
Yep... you got it. :) That way there's no BS involved. ;) At this point, since I haven't heard from either Dan McClain or Jeff Chambers, this whole list idea is still up in the air.... I can keep track of the entries, however, until I hear from them. And for starters, I will accept just a scan of the timeslip... any updates will require a pic of the car w/ numbers corresponding to the timeslip. :) I will place a * next to entries without picture verification. PRI show eh??? I'm jealous! |
ok i understand now:)
the PRI show was amazing. Billy Glidden's and Doug Mangrum's cars were there but I didnt see them in person. I did though see John Urist, Sam Mamolo, one of the editors of 5.0 mag (Houlahan I think), and a few others that I cant remember right now. Got to see the new chain drive setup on Mangrum's Procharged car, thats one wicked setup! The guys at NX's booth were great, even gave me a free bottle of their octane booster. I'm thinking of selling my dry kit completely, and starting over with their wet kit next year. Ok, sorry to take over your post, I'll stop now:) -drew |
Nitrous Express is my nitrous company of choice, has been since '98... you know how I feel about their products. ;)
I wish I could get this dang list going... I think it'd be pretty cool. Hold off on submitting info until we hear from Dan... not that my mailbox is overflowing with TOP 50 msg.'s or anything, lol. -Ryan |
I confess to reading only the first page of this thread, but I think it's a great idea!
I'll try to dig up my quickest timeslip and some pics... |

how about the top 1000?
I think I take the slowest 5.0 award here! This is an embarrassing slip, but here it is anyways. I'll try to get some better slips this weekend. I know this is one of the slowest times, but what the hell, I doubt 50 people will fill the list for awhile. I am the #60 car
http://forums.mustangworks.com/attac...&postid=222020 Take care, Keith |

I just finished going through the User's Rides system tonight sifting through alot of BS as well as quite a few good entries... I decided to stop a 25 tonight, but still have more to go through and will post the results soon.... maybe.
Lots of 9 sec cars, not all of them are 'true' 9 sec rides though.... and I just started to get into the 10 sec category. Only one believeable high 8 sec. car at this point, btw. I'm looking for an opinion on where I should go with this idea, as of now I'm only using a ET@MPH/username/vehicle type-year/cubic inch/weight/aspiration/tires ...not a whole lot of luck getting a tire listing out of every entry either, so I'm using what I have to work with. If I get some time tomorrow, I should have an "unofficial" TOP 50 list posted, hopefully... It appears that the majority of cars with be 9/10/11 sec rides... I still have a few hundred users to look through... yee-haw! Later, -Ryan |
