Talking finally got my car fixed

i finally got my car fixed after weeks and months of frustration and money being spent. I thought it was a fuel problem b/c it would cut out at high rpm and lean out so i figured it was running out of gas. put a bigger fuel pump still didnt do anything. I took it to the guy who biult my motor and after 3 days of working on it we put a distributer just with the old single points and it fixed it. The whole time it was my petronix ignitor breaking down around 4ooo rpm just when it was fixing to make its power. so got to find something better to put in there. i just had never heard of anybodys pertronix going bad but mine finally did after about 4 years.

Don't get a Mallory Unilite. I have one and the first module lasted 18,000 miles. When I finally figured out what was the matter, I went to a local supplier for a new one. When I told him that it only lasted 18,000 miles, he said "that's longer than usual".

If I had it to do over , I'd just get a MSD magnetic distributor.

Three letter for u MSD. I had tried a couple of those dang electronic replacements and none of the worked right. Under excelration i would have backfires and stuff like that. They just dont work very well I hate those things my car never ran right with one. I ever tried different brands. So went out and got my MSD 6A then got the MSD distributer. U drop in the msd distributer and plug it into the 6A and it solved all my problems with 200 bucks and 20 mins of my time.

Four years before it went out, if u think of it, u got your money out of it, I've heard of many other kind of systems going out about the same time, but most cost more, but if the Pert-2 comes out soon, I'll get that insted. What size coil where u running. Also, did u ever check your timming before u changed it back?
