Jack Kilby dead @ 81
This is a sad day for us geeks.
Without Jack Kilby, it's doubtful that any of us would be here at MustangWorks.com at all, let alone there wouldn't be an internet, a computer, a handheld calculator, a cellphone... Basically, anything with an integrated circuit owes its existance to him. How does this relate to Mustangs, you ask? Look what the EEC-IV, EEC-V, and Bosch computer systems have done for our hobby. :) Godspeed, Mr. Kilby. You will be missed. |
Re: Jack Kilby dead @ 81
I'm only vaguely aware of (the late) Jack Kilby and his contributions to modern-day electronic technology - especially computer tech. However, to paraphrase the late Arthur Miller and a line from his play 'Death of a Salesman': attention must be paid to pioneers like Kilby when they finally pass from the scene, and you have admirably done so. Thank you.
