What do some of you think of Ram-Air hoods? I was thinking about the hood that has the same scoop as regular Stang w/ one scoop, not the two all the way in the front. Do they really help in giveing hp? The only reason I ask, might sound dumb, but what if it is raining outside? Is there a switch or something to keep the air/water from getting into your engine? i don't think its a problem as hood induction scoop, shaker hoods and the like, have been around for a long time. now what can be dangerous is one of the ram-air kits thats low to the ground, cause you hit a puddle, that mutha scoops up the water......

I was always worried about rain as well, I live in S. Florida, so as you know it rains alot here... I have never had a problem with rain, I've even gone through automatic car washes before, and no problems!! ------------------ Joe! 1988 GT, 167,000 miles!!! 13.58@105mph Check out my listing! I asked a hood manufacturer that same question(years ago), he said that the K&N filter was oiled up and that would repell the water. I never did decide on one though.

JL1314, how long have you had that hood? My mechanic said that the ram air hoods always seem to crack and I'd be better off with a 4" cowl. Do you have any cracks of any kind? ------------------ Rick My 89lx(updated 7/20/2001) My 97 Cobra |

jeez, i'd be afraid it would force water into the motor. i tried an automatic car wash once , good think i thought about it beforehand and brought a towel! ![]() ------------------ 90LX AOD Convertable: Lakewood control arms, FMS springs. ![]() LOL, Automatic car washes definitely require a towel for most older style mustangs I think!! I have water spraying in around every seal when that high pressure water hits it!!!!! ![]() |
