Default Is this just me, or would it makethis much diff???

I put in a new 45,000 volt coil and new 7.5mm wires today(along with about $300 of over cool crome stuff) and new the car really seems to take off. On a full tank of gas, it did what it used to on an empty tank, and more. I can really feel the secondires kick in now. When I hit the gas it throws u aginst the seat, then the secondires do it again. The other wires were only one year old, and still good.

Also, when not in gear, when I rev my engine now, I see my sec start to open, never did that before.

One last thing, I bought new 9mm wires, but they are female on both ends, and I need a male end for my cap. Is there any kit to convert either one?

Your car could be running better due to a problem(loose connection or defective wires) with the equipment you changed(maybe the new wires are just better). You are probably burning the fuel more completely in the cylinder now(hotter coil), less unspent gas. Makes for better gas mileage as well(probably not a great deal though).

As far as changing the boot on the wire, I seem to remember there being boots available that you could switch on there. You might wanna check with summit or whoever you bought the wires from...

I felt the same exact thing when i put the FMS 9mm wires on mine. I think my car had the stock 12 year old wires on it before so that was probably why (had 1989 written on em)

Later,
Nick

I hope that I can find something. I bought them for a 5.0,thinking they would work, but I forgotthat the cap is a male type.

They are cool looking wires, ford blue with ford racing printed on them. Also they are #ed for each cyilnder.

Supposedly, if the secondary electrical components are good to begin with, you won't get anything more from higher end wires, etc. Maybe there was some problem with the old (one year old) components.

Exclamation New-found power

mustang_man:

The only time I've seen a new coil or plug wires dramatically improve performance is when the old components were defective in some way.

there is a car show this friday, is there any quick, but good way to put on the wires? I'm going to be in the show.

Also, I forgot, but I changed the cap and rotor, for some reason they looked a little burnt out. This was too, only a year old. I think my old points destroyed everything, sending spark, when not needed. I like my new pertronix convertion. Run so smooth now.
