I found these specs on the Pantera. My guess would be that it was detuned to run with unleaded fuel. Or he was just toying with me. I didn't mean to imply that it's a weak car or something. I was just relaying my only encounter with one.

I was really impressed that the driver still drove it with gusto unlike people with their brand new Vettes. It would be a really cool car to put a modern, fuel injected engine in.

Interesting. thanks for the info. Question though: How does a 3100 Lb. car with 330 HP only do the quarter in 14 seconds at 99 mph?

Seems like those munbers dont add up. i guess it was milked down the quarter on street tires?

I found a couple spec pages and that was the most complete. The number that's missing is that it reached peak HP at 5200 rpms. That may explain it.

Well, stock fox bodies reached peak HP at what, 4500 RPM or something ,and they still ran the quarter in high 13's with slicks.

I guess the gearing wasnt favorable for the 1/4 mile either, with a 160 MPH top speed

2nd 1.47

3rd 1.41

4th 0.846

5th 0.705

Rev 2.87

Final Ratio 4.22:1

Okay back to the post count thing... I have been busy and I missed this, so here is my two cents.. I liked the count when I first started but now that I got to know some people I don't even pay attention to it anymore. And Eric what is this about posting meaningless BS or something like that, I like the fact that we have the blue oval and we can tell jokes about slowmaros and rice burners. Why does someone have to have a technical question or something like that??? Chris you are really helpful I have seen how much you help people and thanks for that. I don't think Eric meant anything by the 6000 count, I know we sometimes jump to conclusions. Dan the site is great my favorite keep up the excellent work!

See Ya,
Karen

sweet car, but the shade of blue is a little light for my tastes. It looks like he had a real clean one. Im surprised you still had pictures of it.

where are you deployed too anyway?

Later,

Yea, I have those pics posted online.

About my deployment, all I can say is I'm in the desert.

Dude you in the same desert as me? We had some Air force guys with us just a week ago when we had a Brigade live fire. If it is not the same one it is probaly pretty close. You are lucky as hell you missed all the hot weather. It gets to only 120 now. Which feels pretty cool to what it was getting up to.

I'm not too far away. I could fire up a flare and u could see it. Not really, but we are close. Ya, I'm glad too about the hot weather. 120 is enough for me. If u ever see a KC-10, ask where they are from, if they say travis, then say u, well, kinda know me-lol.

Deployed to the desert and still have internet access, and time to use it. Man, the military has gone soft...lol.

I might be joining you in a few months. The B1 is going bye-bye and we are converting to J-STARS.

Good luck, dont get spit on by any camels.

This isn't the topic the thread started out to be. You guys should all start a Pantera thread it seems... So, I'm closing the thread as the content has totally changed...
