Longest you've owned your car...

Bought the LX new in 1988. Just sold it... Thats 15 years and 140,000 miles.

Sill have the 97... Probably end up selling it and get a 03 or 04... probably keep that for another 15 years!

Mass Stang 05-08-2003 01:43 PM

14 Years with my current Mustang. 89GT. Though now it only comes out on sunny weekend days.

Sicy Stang 05-08-2003 01:44 PM

Wow I'm impressed!

Bought my 88 in 1994.. still have it.. 130k. So 9 years.

lil drummer boy 05-08-2003 01:45 PM

1969Mach1 05-08-2003 01:48 PM

Mustang longevity

I drove my brand-new, 1990 LX 5.0 off the dealer's lot 13 years ago and it's still going strong after 122,000 pleasurable miles. I love my Mustang! :D

Bought my car back in June 2002, so coming up on 1 year:) First car I've ever owned. Have no plans of selling her but want to add a newer mod car next year or two. ~Brian

lil drummer boy 05-08-2003 02:54 PM

same here... my mustang is the first car I've actually had in my name on the title... and what a great first car it is :)

8T4SVOChick 05-08-2003 02:57 PM

I have had my '84 for 8 years now. It will be one year for the 2000 in August.

lil drummer boy 05-08-2003 03:00 PM

is June-August a popular time to get a mustang? ...it seems we get them around then...

oh wait... it's the middle of summer... duh... lol

The Fireman 05-08-2003 03:12 PM

Hmmm. I got mine in October of 2001. So that's 1, and a half years for me.

lil drummer boy 05-08-2003 03:14 PM

ya know I almost bought one in October of 2001 too... it was midnight blue... brand new GT on the lot... they only had 2 sticks left and the rest were automatics... I test drove it and wanted to buy it... but I couldn't afford the payments :(

Shaun Barcelow 05-08-2003 03:30 PM

I bought my '94 Formula new in August of '94, so almost 9 years. My father drove it as a company car and I bought it as a GM program vehicle with 7600 miles, most of which he put on it. I have an '01 Alero that I've owned since January of last year. I had a '96 Sonoma that I kept for six months before trading it in for a nearly identical one with a V6 instead of an I4. Both were new when I bought them. Had that until April of last year. Put 184,000 miles on it in about 5 1/2 years. My wife has a '99 Grand Am GT that we bought new in April of '99. I've also owned an '84 Cutlass Supreme, an '84 Cutlass Ciera, and an '84 Delta 88 (my first car). Holy cats, that's eight cars! I'm not THAT old, am I?

Maroon 5.0 LX 05-08-2003 03:38 PM

Got my '89 LX in May of '89. 71,000 and garage kept still.

MidNiteBlu 5.0 05-08-2003 06:03 PM

Will be two years this September, the weekend after labor day

Hethj7 05-08-2003 08:43 PM

I have had my Stang for almost 6 years now, and I am just 23. It looks better now than it did the day I brought it home:D .

RBatson 05-10-2003 04:59 AM

Bought my 89 in March of 91, its not even the same car and I love it even more.

Mach 1 05-10-2003 08:50 AM

Wow, the longest I can keep a car is 4 years. Even after I dump thousands upon thousands of dollars in mods into them, after 4 years, I need something new to play with, and sell it for a loss. Thats why I got out of the hobby I guess...lol...I was going broke.

Stang_Crazy 05-10-2003 08:22 PM

I've had my 89 for almost 3 years now. It had 58k miles when I bought it and it has 66k miles now. It's slowly becoming my garage queen...I've driven it 90 miles in the last 8 months.

This was a little before you time Sicy, but Jim (Mr. 5.0) used to be the forum administrator or MustangWorks and a VERY prominent member. He's full up with tons of helpful advice and has a sharp political mind. He's a class A guy in my book.

Wanna see something cool?

Republicans cut taxes and successfully fight terrorism and one particular Republican looks pretty cool in a flight suit. :D

Actually, White House interns er, do what you said to Democrats (or one particular Democrat, anyway).

Nicole Josee 05-12-2003 02:11 PM

I bought the 93 LX in April 2000, after I sold my 88 LX. I've had my old van for almost 5 years and I wouldn't trade her for any new car, of all the cars I've ever had she's the only one thats never once let me down

BLACK85GT 05-12-2003 07:21 PM

I think I have everyone beat on this one maybe. I bought mine in 1985. I was 19 years old. I am now 37. Thats 18 years!

n20lx 05-13-2003 09:21 PM

I've had the LX since June of '90, orderd new. 55k miles. About the only thing thats left from the factory is the body, the interior & the front suspension. Every thing else replaced with better or broke at the track including evicting 2 rods from the pan.

hobgoblin351 05-13-2003 10:04 PM

Damn and here I thought I was gonna beat everyone. I got my 70 vert in 1986 and still own it. It was my first and I'm just finishing the frame up restoration. If i can just get the damn thing painted!

FalconGTHO 05-14-2003 01:53 AM

72 Gran Torino Sport...fastback, from the original owner on Friday, May 20, 88 with 47XXX miles. First (at age 20) and ONLY (up till Apr 14th) car I ha(d)ve EVER owned. Still do. Still will till I have it done. Added an 02 GT on Apr 14. Will have that a long time to, but not likely as long as the Torino.

I've owned my Comet since I was 16, way back in '89. Very first car I owned. It's come a long way since then.

Pokey 5.0 05-20-2003 12:19 PM

i bought Oscar Dec. 7, 1995 with 22,683 miles. almost 7 1/2 yrs later hes only got 44, 581 miles(theyve been a hard 22k miles)
this is my first car ever(had a truck first), first car i ever owned outright, not to mention it was my first stang and first ford as well.

mmacdone 05-22-2003 02:52 AM

It'll be 3 years tomorrow (05/23) for my 2000 GT! I couldn't be happier with her :D 40,487 on the odometer.
Used to own a '90 GT. Purchased it new back in Nov. of '92 (30,000 miles). Only had it until mid April of '93. Rolled it! Ha ha  :(

She was BONE STOCK

It will be 5 years this October...she was BONE STOCK EXCEPT FOR THE 12 disk changer. Had about 45K at that time...I will turn over 114 K on the way to the MCOA Nats this weekend...
Ive put well over $13,000 into her since then....so, ya'll know when things are not right, why I stress out ....Since I got her, weve had 3 major magazine publications and I've been featured on MY Classic Car (TV w/ Dennis Gage) once and shown again on MCC 2 other times....and also on the FFW videos....so....for the 5 years almost i've owned my car, I cant help but feeling VERY fortunate, and I HOPE the best is YET still to come! ;) I love my car...I express myself thru my car....she is aging BAD....and her paint is wearing thin. BUT....regardless, Im proud of her and I've personalized her to the way I want her....I might not be burning up the track..(and yes, I have raced her) But I feel good about what I have done to her.
and JIM....good to see ya post..I really miss ya!!!! Glad to see you are still around....... ;)
