has anybody read the lyrics of the song "Down with the sickness" by Disturbed? WOW! they are disturbed! i have been reading lyrics of the songs of some new bands, you would be amazed in what they say. some of it is good and others is really nasty and you really cant tell unless you listen to a song a couple of times. What do you think of these lyrics?

You think the lyrics are screwed up, try meeting them in person!

Before they got signed they played this little club by my house called CHAMPS all the time. Ive met them on several different occasions and not only are they quite screwed up, but now that they've gotten big its all gone to their heads.

personally i think theyre just trying to make their image look like something its really not. maybe its a biased opinion but thats just my $.02

I guess i am the only person here who likes them. If you listen to thier other songs the lead singer/writer seems to be relating his childhood through his music. It sounds to me like he probably had a very abusive mother especially in "Down with the Sickness". It still isnt nearly as bad as every rap song were they always call girls "hoes" and are always talking about how rich they are or how they are gonna go kill lots of people. :confused: Just my opinion.

It sounds like he's re-living parental physical abuse and having nasty revenge fantisies.

This guy needs serious therapy but instead he writes songs about his pain, grief, whatever and makes a pile of cash. Whatever works, I guess.

Of course, a lot of these songwriters had a perfectly normal childhood but play the poor boy and the sick puppy for effect and do the psycho lyrics for shock value (is anybody really 'shocked' by anything, anymore?)

C'mon guys, its not like they are condoning child abuse here, whats the problem? I think this song is very anti-child abuse. Thats something we should all "Be Down With"

If you dont like the music of Disturbed, thats fine. I do. I think they rock! I plan on seeing them the next time they come to town! But dont read the lyrics once, and listen to the song once, then think that you have the song figured out. Give it a chance. Understand it before you think you know it.

I agree with Andy. I think they are trying to send out anti-abuse messages. If you don't like it don't listen to it. But still rap is much much worse.

i never said i didnt like the band or the song, simply stating that they are Disturbed! sounds like "Down with the Sickness" means abuse and his mother must have had the sickness or it can simply be just lyrics that someone wrote. i really dig that song. i havent heard any other songs by them. i will go from there. got to admit, i want to get violent and thrash the house when i hear it though! HAHA j/k just watch, some kid may blow his brains out cause of this kind of music! give me a break! i hope this song doesnt come to that, for any kid in America!

SRV, do yourself a favor; GET THAT CD!! The whole thing rocks! Its one of the few that I can put in and just let it play! (i.e. no skipping or forwarding)

I love that song, It is my favorite (see also "Whats your favorite song" thread), and yes I consider myself a little disturbed at times but its nothin I can't handle. Ooh ah ah ah ah! I can hear that running through my head all day.

I can garauntee that 95% of the people who hear that song have no idea what it's about. It's played all the time on local radio stations and guys at work crank it up. I probably would have been shocked to hear these lyrics a few years ago, but Korn has played on the whole childhood abuse thing quite a bit (songs like "daddy", "kill you", etc.). Those are disturbing lyrics though. They picked a good band name.
