Thumbs up What are your opinions on this IMPACT?

I'm ready to buy a powerful impact, this is the one that I have had my eye on for a while now, I like the way it looks, the specs look great also, I was just wondering what everyone else thought of it, and if anyone had any experience with it before I bought it, reliability, etc....and what about their impact sockets? They are priced REALLY cheap, kinda makes me wonder. Well let me know, Thanks Justin.

Oh by the way, it's a Ingersoll-Rand, just in case you didn't know the symbol. Also what do you think of their air ratchets?

Well my opinion is completely bias as I work for Ingersoll-Rand (Rock Drilling Division)

We make great air tools. Even if I bought one direct from my tool division I would be saving less than 30% on that price of $199. So that is a great price.

Don't forget to get your IR air compressor too .

Who are you gettin it from. We get our tools from Snap-on so if it breaks they fix it. We even get our IR tools from them. We have two of those 3/8 IR impacts that have more power than any 1/2 drive we've found other than the IR one. They are all black with a red power selector on the back. They're bad little guns. I'd suggest gettin one of these instead unless your needing the 1/2 drive.

Oh and we are the world leader in air products (air tools and compressors). So if we do sell crap, we sell a whole lot of it to people over and over again .

I use a Sears Craftsman. Had the el-cheapos, and gave that one away.
I would be concerned about "faster" than other impacts. I wouldnt mind having the power, without the speed.

I am also bias to IR stuff. There was a plant in my hometown for over 20 years tha built air compressors. They closed it last year for some stupid reason. The 2000 year produced more compressors than anyyear ever before for this facility and they had to turn some customers away. They only produced larger compressors which many ofwent overseas but there was a huge workforce that lost jobs here. But I still buy the tools

And that ad says "Sounds just like the impacts used by Nascar".

So who cares what it sounds like as long as it does the job. I prefer Snap-on tools but to each his own. And them things are high to.

As with many large company's, I often wonder why decisions are made they way they are, they never seem to make any sense. I have made several recommendations, but many times the company goes the other way. But what do I know, I'm just middle management

It has 625 ft-lbs. of torque max, that is MASSIVE torque, alot more than most people would ever need.

The Federal Express mechanics working on the big stuff can't afford to mess around with their tools. The guys I know use Snap On everything.... except for the Ingersoll Rand impact gun. My dad also has a set of Ingersoll Rand wrenches from a long while back. They are nothing short of excellent, trust me, we've put them through torture.

IR sent me a questionaire a while back asking if I'd buy a gun like that. They ended up sending me a Thunder Gun T-shirt as their way of saying thanks. I told them I wouldn't buy one unless my other gun broke. My "other" gun is an IR 2131, supposedly the strongest 1/2" impact made, although I think it's specs max out at 600 ft.lbs. of torque. I love my 2131, but I haven't tried the Thunder Gun yet. I'm sure it's quality is the same as the 2131. The pros of the 2131 are it's superior strength and reduced weight. Very comfortable. Incredible power. Keep in mind that an impact gun is only as strong as the air compressor feeding it. If you get it, keep me posted with your impressions of it!
