If you have high miles then I'd go with the procharger. This way you can keep the boost down and still get the same amount (or close) of power because of the intercooler. Then down the line, if you get a fresh motor, you can change pulleys and up the boost

Default Instant Boost?

I'm going with the Blowzilla by Kenne Bell.
I heard and have read that there is nothing better for instant boost than a screw-type Roots Blower.
The only negaitve I have ever read is the occasional drive belt toss.

Instant boost is good, unless you drive your car everyday on the street. It's already hard enough to get traction on the street, let alone with 7-8psi of boost.

Also, the root's type blowers are supsosedly less efficient than centrifugal blowers. They take more hp from the motor to turn than do the others.

Default Lysholm blowers

Lysholm (really 2nd generation Roots blowers) are more efficient than centrifugal blowers and make power instantly.
Centrifugal units (Vortech, Paxton, etc are the least efficient, the BEST being a turbocharger.
Adiabatic lapse rates and efficiency ratings favor the Kenne Bell Lysholm blowers, which do not take any more power from the motor than centrifugal units.
Centrifugal units don't start making power until 3,000 RPM and it comes up much slower than a Lysholm blower.
The main difference between a Lysholm and a roots (screw-type) are the male/female lobes that are unique to them.
Why do you think dragsters (guys really concerned about boost) run nothing but Lysholm blowers?

Technically the Kenne Belle isn't a roots blower. Roots blowers work on the same basic principle (positive displacement), but the Kenne Belle's twin screw design is more effiecient from my understanding.

hmm, well i guess my informant lied to me about roots blowers being less efficient

My understanding is that most streetable positive displacement superchargers can't match the ultimate flow of a centrifugal blower so for top end performance the centrifugal blowers offer is better and peak numbers for hp will usually be higher.
I like all of the blowers listed but if I switched to injection and went with a blower right now, I'd get the the P1SC because you don't need to put in an oil line which makes installation easier, although I've heard that setting up the intercooler and the ducting takes a few times to get it right for someone who doesn't set these up on a regular basis.

I like the Procharger with the intercooler, but I also like the rotary screw compressors.

I work for Ingersoll-Rand, the largest air compressor company in the world and we make only rotary screw compressors. They are the most efficient and durable in most appplications. So I guess taking that technology to the auto scene, the positive displacement or "roots" type blower would probably be the way I'd go

I love the reliability of the S-trim. When beating it up for 20-25 MINUTES at a time on/off full throttle for years, and no problemo!!!

I have looked into this breifly myself. The novi 1000 is junk, but the 2000 is nice. Vortech, ATI, and Paxton all make good blowers.

I would go with the ATI because its oiling system is self contained for easier install. You can also buy the PS1C non-intercooled for around $2300.00, and then add the intercooler later if you desire.

Mach 1

I'm interested in knowing why you say the Novi 1000 is "junk"..

Ok, let me rephrase that...

To the best of my knowledge, the novi 1000 is a low boost, low performance blower that only puts out enough flow for like 5 lbs of pressure, which in my opinion, is a waste of time.

I cant see spending around $1,500 - $2,000 for the novi 1000, when you can get the non-intercooled PS1C, which is a much higher flowing and better performing blower and will blow the novi 1000 away for around $2300.00.

I wasnt implying the paxton was low quality in any way, and I shouldnt have called it "junk", as that can be mis-interpeted easily.

Default hehe no worries Mach

hehe no worries Mach you know your stuff pretty well from what I've always seen around here..

Paxtons new entry-level street blowers which are the Novi 1000 model can produce 5-12lbs of boost easily and support 600hp. Paxton 2000 can produces 8-27lbs of boost.Basically the 1000 is the same blower as the paxton 2000 cept the inlet hose dia. is bigger than the 1000 uses..

Me on the other hand I'm using their "old" style ball-drive blower yet

is the Novi 1000 really that similar to the 2000? The price sure is a lot different for the only difference being the diameter of the tube.

Im not a blower expert by any means, I dont even own one, but I would like to someday, and research them occasionally.

What I said was told to me by two different blower salespeople, and it seemed true enough from everything else I heard about the blowers in question..

Yeah, just have a quick lookup above once..

Yeah I kick myself daily for the money I spent on this old style Paxton,if I woulda waited a year longer I coulda had a Paxton that coulda "safely" supported 12lbs of boost instead of this ball-drive which can only "safely' run 8-9 lbs max..

technology these days moves so fast
