price to pay for a nice used cobra....

ok, I'm gonna be in the market for a new car in a couple of months and I'm really looking into getting a cobra. I've found several at what seem to be pretty good prices but I thought I'd post 'em and see what you guys think. here they are: 1) '96 Cobra for $17k...did say how many miles. 2) '98 Cobra for $18,500 with 30k mi. anyways, just lemme know what you guys think. thanks in advance for any advice.

My advice is to get the newest, lowest mile car you can afford. That '98 Cobra looks like a good deal. Make sure you're getting what you want, ask questions, test drive, etc. Ask the owner if they have maintenance records, do a Carfax report, be sure you get something good! It's worth all the hassle in the end! Good luck.

Assuming good condition those aren't bad prices. There aren't too many things that regularly break on Cobras.

The thing to look for on the 96 is that it has had the cooling TSB. On both be real careful about the transmissions. While the engine is still cold shift quickly from 1-2 and make sure there is no grind. A lot of T45s have bad syncros.

Other then that, just look for signs of abuse. Records are always good.

It depends on the shape of the car. Usually low miles means pretty good shape..usually If you want a real nice convertible, I have my 97 cobra for sale right now. I'd take $20,500 for it. It has 29k miles on it.
