Mustangs... EVERYWHERE!

Sheesh... is it me or does every other person in the US own a mustang? I gotta admit, it's almost depressing driving down the road and passing a mustang every 500 feet.

I love my stang though. But wtf lol?

im in florida too...and i think its a state-wide thing...but a large majority are the 6cyl. ones....i like seeing my V8 up next to em..hehe...seems im pretty much an *** for rubbing my GT in their faces, but its my only glory....lol :D...but if you lived in ontario youd be saying, "why does everyone drive a minivan!?" teehee...

LayanRubr 08-01-2002 10:41 PM

Best we keep the Stang ratio highs to the increasing ricer threat!!! :D

tireburner163 08-01-2002 10:42 PM

9 out of 10 are V-6 auto's. You don't see that many GT's

jj_jonathon 08-02-2002 01:38 AM

most people have the v6 (i still wanna call it the lx..lol) because it costs much less, and much less in insurance...lots of people cant afford a gt...plus i know a girl who didnt want one cuz of the scoop...lol...i know she did it cuz of looks not its non-functionality (lol)...so i laugh at her...hehe....shes got a black v6 hardtop....dah well... :\ a chacun son gout! or for those who didnt take french in high school/college (hehe) ...to each their own.. :D

joe4speed 08-02-2002 02:16 AM

yeah there are alot of stangs here in FL. But there are also alot of sweet ones too, so the make up for the majority of old beat up ones!

cyberstang5.0 08-02-2002 07:50 AM

I live in the 4th biggest city in the US and I see TONS of Mustangs. :) Most of them are 6's, every once and a while I'll see the GT's, and Cobra's are a rare sighting. Never the less, if it's a Mustang, I always enjoy seeing them, and never get tired of them :D

PKRWUD 08-02-2002 07:57 AM

Yeah, there's tons here as well. Seems to be about 40% 94+, 20% 79-93, 5% 74-78, and 35% 64.5-73.

Take care,
~Chris

beach 08-02-2002 08:30 AM

ah so it's not just me. same here though, seems about 70 - 80% of em are 6 cyls, which is fine with me because that puts me in the elitist group! *sound of flowmasters screamin*

also i noticed the mustang/camaro ratio is like 4/1. not that i'm really complaining about that either, but it'd be nice to have some more camaros around to wipe the floor with hehe.

why do ya think that is? i think it's because camaros are BUTT ugly nowadays. waaaaaaaay too long, and those gigantic doors! what were they thinking?

i say bring back the late 60s body style! nothin turns my head more than a hopped up 69 camaro with centerlines and a nice big blower stickin out the hood :) you GOTTA admit they look saweeeet.

check this out: http://media.car-videos.com/videos/s...maro_Supra.wmv

SilverGT02 08-02-2002 09:20 AM

Yeah, I hate seeing alot of stangs around.

Thats one reason I love my truck, there isnt too many around by me, and I always get compliments on it.

1969Mach1 08-02-2002 10:07 AM

What'ch ya talking about Minivans in Ontario? lol But seriously we don't have that many, I see plenty of Mustangs. I see quite abit of GT's mostly conv. though, I seen a Saleen every week or two. (Seen one last night) I see a Cobra every now and then. I see alot of 64.5 to 68 coupes, there 2 other 69 Mach1's, a coupe, a 70 Mach1 in my town. And we only have a population of 60,000. I'm sure if I go right into Toronto I'll see more.

§am.

SilverGT02 08-02-2002 10:15 AM

I would think a convertible in Canada would be a rare thing...Isnt it really cold?

I see no reason for this to be depressing

If you actually sat down and thought about it, it would probably be MORE upsetting if Mustangs were such shitty cars that NO ONE wanted to drive them. I've heard endless jokes about the "Me too, Me too" Mustang trend, but who really cares?

Trying to express individuality with a PRODUCTION vehicle that is replicated tens of thousands of times is silly, and impossible. Just hook up your Mustang the way YOU like, and rejoice in the fact that you own a namesake that has endured for decades and has earned such an immense following.

I am always glad to see Mustang's on the road. Keep in mind, the sales #'s of the V6 are what keeps the Mustang atop its platform. These consistent sales lets Ford experiment with new cars and technology (i.e. 03 Cobra). If it wasn't for the V6 selling the way it does, the Mustang would face the same fate as Camaro/Firebird.

You are aware of the fact that GM is bringing back a rear wheel drive LS1 300+ hp car in 2004, aren't you?

Having alot of Mustangs around sounds freakin sweet to me. I don't know why someone who likes them wouldn't want them around. Where I live you can't go on the roads without seeing a Mustang, and I wish that there were even more of them around.:D If ya ask me there is no such thing as too many Mustangs no matter what kind they are. V6s, GTs, Cobras I love em all.:)

jj_jonathon 08-02-2002 04:46 PM

and like i said...its always nice to park you new GT next to an old GT, etc. It's kinda cool to see two mustangs in a row....and i especially love it on the very odd occasion i see a black gt conv. like mine...i saw one two weeks ago....some chick was driving it and gave me a death stare "like, oh my god! why is he driving my car?!!?"....silly girls (NOT all of you...lol)....thats prolly the only case where ive been upset with a mustang driver...i love mustangs..wooo! go mustang!...hehe

General Motors Press Release 8:00 a.m EST June 20, 2002

ÊPontiac Confirms GTO Production

DETROIT Ñ
General Motors and its Australian division, Holden, have completed an agreement to return the legendary Pontiac GTO to U.S. highways in late 2003 as a 2004 model. Holden will produce up to 18,000 of the modern, high-performance coupes each year at its Elizabeth plant.
Bob Lutz, Chairman of GM's North American Operations, was a key player in bringing back the GTO as a modern interpretation of the legendary muscle car. After he drove the Holden Monaro during a recent trip to Australia, he knew he had found a vehicle to serve as the basis for the new GTO. "I love driving this car," Lutz said, raving about the Monaro's 5.7-liter V8, 6-speed manual transmission. "It shares that V8 heritage and a brawny, muscular stance with the classic GTO, and it will make a fine flagship for Pontiac.
The addition of the 2004 GTO to the Pontiac lineup is a giant step in Pontiac's mission to contemporize the way it expresses excitement for the 21st century. "We want to focus on creating vehicles with a clean, fresh expression of Pontiac styling and provide our customers with a 'total performance' package that delivers both impressive power and superior handling," said Lynn Myers, Pontiac-GMC general manager.
"In the 2003 model year, we have the all-new Vibe¨ and the fresh look of the restyled Sunfire¨ and Grand Am¨ SE. We are following that with the totally redesigned 2004 Grand Prix¨ in the first quarter of 2003," said Myers. "The introduction of the new GTO in late 2003 will be the 'exclamation point" on the exciting evolution of the division, moving Pontiac performance to the next level."

2004 PONTIAC GTO
The 2004 Pontiac GTO will share much of the sculpted and clean styling of the current 2002 Holden Monaro CV8 coupe, with unique Pontiac brand character, including a dual-port grille and powered by a specially tuned version of the 5.7-liter LS1 V8 (shared with some models of the Chevrolet¨ Corvette¨) mated to a choice of either a 6-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission. The rear-wheel-drive coupe will feature 17" alloy wheels, 2+2 bucket seating, and a premium sound system with an integrated 6-disc CD changer. Additional performance and feature details are still being finalized and will be released closer to the public unveiling of the GTO at the Los Angeles and North American International Auto Shows.

the front looks an awful lot like the grand am/prix....

beach 08-02-2002 05:53 PM

it's ugly. screw rounded corners and aerodynamics.

just my opinion, hope it doesn't offend anyone. i'm just a classic muscle fan that's all.

regardless, thanks for the link and the pic bro

I hear ya. I tend to feel like the more rounded a vehicle is, the more feminine it is (ie: 97+ F150's), but that seems to be the way things are going. I was just pleased to see that GM had inked a new LS1 powered, rear wheel drive sports car. With the demise of the F-bodies, the Mustang had little domestic competition, and it is competition that makes things faster. There is even a rumor floating around of an '05 or '06 GTO Judge, with a supercharged V8.

Take care,
~Chris

LOL. Actually it's probably been warmer in Toronto than Dallas, atleast up to last week. The problem with GT's in Canada is that

1. with our taxes and exchange rate most people can't afford a GT.
2. If you can afford a GT, you then have to worry about paying CDN$0.80+ per litre (or roughly US$2.00+ per gallon)
3. Our Winters are longer and Summers are shorter. So either you pay all this money to drive you car a few months of the year or you drive it in the snow, which trust me, SUCKS!
Of course Canada is a very big country. Over the last couple days Toronto has seen temps nearing 100 deg and area's near Calgary had snow!

So all considering, people that can afford GT's are buying a summer car and already have the money to "upgrade" on a vert.

Actually the insurance is not that bad in Canada. It's the fact that at the end of the day, of the money I make I seriously have less than 33% left for the goods I want. The AVERAGE Canadian pays approximately 67% of there income back to the Canadian government!!

SinisterSN95 08-03-2002 12:56 PM

well, ricing out mustangs...i got you all beat.

yesterday, i was driving my NON RICE V6 home from work, and i came up to the light and what do i see?
A RICED OUT 2003 COBRA!!!

Some guy put altezzas on a 03 COBRA! And, no it wasnt a V6 with a bodykit, he took off at the light and i heard the exhaust and the blower...it was real.

Gayest thing i've ever seen, but wtf could anyone say to him. His car could smoke half the cars on the road.

yes its factory :)...i dont think it was a dealer option cuz i see them like this at al the ford dealerships around here and down the road...i believe they started putting that fake hood scoop on in 02...might have been 01, but i dont think so....id like to make it functional someday :D...i think it makes it look better honestly, a better distinguishing characteristic than the dual exhaust from the V6s....you can buy the plastic scoop for under $100 and bolt it on...many places online sell em...dunno if youd really wanna put a plastic one on there as aftermarket tho..lol

^ is one of the many reasons my parents took us to the states....oh and the fact that schools are basically a joke now...i remember missing 2 months in 8th grade because teachers were on strike...thats one union that they need to kill off FAST...not like the kids are being up there anyways...down here teaches make nothing past 30k american...and thats a very nice salary...most of em make about 20k...course our wonderful governor is killing even more funding this year (he's pro-education tho) so i know of a few very good teachers that left this year because they just needed to make more money to support their kids...good thing i graduated last year...but i have a younger brother facing this upcoming epidemic for two more years :\...sounds like we've got the opposite problem of canada...lol....i went off on a tangent here, but i guess it was a little venting....:)

1965GTO 08-03-2002 01:41 PM

mustangs everywhere

At Gateway International Raceway on wednesday night test and tune I see about 40% mustangs and 40% camaros of the street cars. The camaros win 90% of the time. Most of the camaro and mustang street cars that show up are newer models. Mustang GT's are all that is really left right now as far as affordable new V8 sports cars go. If you want to be different with a mustang then you just need to keep it in good shape for long enough time. How many nice 71 Mach 1's do you see driving down the road?
