I like the idea of all meeting and driving there with others would be cool.

Flying Pigs? Bacon on Patrol? Smokey & The 'Stangers?

Haha, I could go on forever. I'm might write a couple emails, see if I can get some support for this. I think I understand what Mercury's saying, though. Kinda like a regional car pool? Like, everybody from Texas, Arizona, Arkansas, etc. could group together in a central location or something? I kinda like that idea. We're almost going to have to get a registration setup or something, in case members need to get in touch with one another; a 'group leader' would also prove useful for coordinating the entire 'convoy' thing.

Okay, as for the FFW events, I'd vote for (in decending preference) Norwalk, Bristol, Cordova, and Richmond. Florida is kind of out of the question, as is Georgia & Texas. Reason being that's a lot of distance from where MustangWorks is based (Detroit, Michigan), which is where I'm from, as are a few other MustangWorks staff members...well, at least we're mostly in the Midwest region, hehehe. ;) I can really see this taking off this year, though. Can't wait to see everyone at an event!!!!!

Not sure if I'm making any sense, I have a tremondous head ache.

Damian, you're making perfect sense. This was done a few years ago.. one strand started in Fla with people joining in at certain points and leading to WFC(I think). The other convoy started in NJ or somewhere north. I wanted to be in the FLA group but my car was not ready:(

This is a great idea, I'd love to cruise with a pack of mustang though.. I'd have to stop about every 175 miles to refuel..

James

Well, the last time they did it they were called escorts. Don't judge the police so harsh.. They are guys just like you and I(most of them). Believe me, they would enjoy it too:) They actually escorted the group though some of the cities.. Cool as HELL..

Now I'm getting excited! You gotta get some of the other mustang sites involved.. I want it to be BIG!!

Crazy Horse GT 12-29-2001 12:22 AM

rick i think it would be cool, all us southern boy's rollin' down the highway but, i dont think the site is picked out yet it dont matter to me where it is i would like to get this thing going,so i can save up some time off :D

tireburner163 12-29-2001 12:28 AM

A convoy, thats a great idea. But......ummm......how am I gonna keep up???

Crazy Horse GT 12-29-2001 12:31 AM

hey tireburner i got a long chain, but you gotta pay half the gas bwhahaha:D

rbatson 12-29-2001 12:31 AM

Tireburner, all I can say is that.. I'd be in the front and going 9 mph over the speed limit unless... someone trys to pass:D that's when the fun begins!!

I can hardly wait!!

Topless In Texas 12-29-2001 12:44 AM

DROPPING SPEED LIMITS!! :(

FYI: this really sucks and i just thought i'd share it w/ ya'll ...come Jan. 1st they are DROPPING THE SPEED LIMIT HERE IN HARRIS COUNTY AND SURROUNDING AREAS TO 55MPH FROM 70!!!!!!!!!! WTF??? I'M SO PISSED...For emissions control...so if ya'll think about coming out this way...tack on a few more hours...(or for those of US that come out ya'lls way) that chose to adhere to it..I know I wont...I CANT DRIVE 55!!! LOOKS LIKE I'LL BE TEACHING DEFENSIVE DRIVING AGAIN!!!! AAAUUUGGHHH!!! Just say NO to 55!!! I think that this is such bulls***...(maybe this should be on a new post?)

dinomite 12-29-2001 11:16 AM

I think this is a very good idea. I don't think driving to OKC would be TOOO bad, but i think it would be much better to have 3 meetings throughout the country, rather than in one place. Renting a track is not a bad idea at all; my mustang club rents a track around here a few times a year for $400 (so when we get 20 people its only 20 per person) and we get the track for 4 hours. I assume that most tracks are simillar, and we could find one near each of the meeting spots.

6T9PONY 12-30-2001 02:47 AM

Hello again, everyone. I've been gone for a couple days at a basketball tournament so I haven't been able to view the boards. I'm glad to see there has been quite a few new faces on this thread throwing opinions out! Thanks!

The convoy idea is fantastic. That right there, I think, would help convince a few people to make the trip.

I think renting a track is a very likely event now with dinotmite's input. $400 for 4 hours isn't bad at all if there are enough of us there.

1BAD89 12-30-2001 02:58 AM

I am going to smoke ALL of you.  ;)

srv1 12-30-2001 02:54 PM

6T9PONY 12-30-2001 06:35 PM

I'm going to post a couple polls right now about this event.

StangFlyer 01-03-2002 12:39 PM

Well everyone, sorry it has taken me so long to respond to this. However, I was definitely on a hiatus over the holidays and kept quite busy with family oriented activities.

I think the idea of a Mustang Works gathering is a good one, and definitely something that I've thought about before. Unfortunately, experience has shown that although a lot of members will go on about what a great idea something like this is, in actuality only a small percentage of them will actually travel very far to participate. A good example of this would be the Cyber Brawl event we helped put on in 2000. There were like 400-500 car owners who said they were coming, but when the day finally came only like 100-120 showed, and a good portion of those were trucks from the truck sites.

Furthermore, if we did have such an event, it would have to be a national Mustang Works gathering that is at least some what centrally located in the nation for the most part. This would mean some place like we had Cyber Brawl, which was in Bowling Green, Kentucky. So with that in mind, how many of you would realistically travel to such a location, stay in a hotel, bring your car, and be there? It would be a lot of time and work to do such an event, so I'd want to know that a lot of you would actually be coming to make it worth whiled...

rbatson 01-03-2002 12:58 PM

I wanted to go to the last one but my car wasn't ready:((bet that was overheard alot). I took the month of July off last summer so I could make it but they didn't have it.. I took the month of July off again this year, just incase and heck.. July is a good month to be off.

mean81GT 01-03-2002 01:33 PM

I would love to do something like this. As long as my car is done before. The only other problem, like Dan said, is people committing, and then actually attending.

Crazy Horse GT 01-03-2002 01:33 PM

when is my problem, bowling green would be cool, then we could cruise a bunch of stang's past the corvette musem & factory & revvv em for the w--revette worker's bwhahaha:rolleyes:

PKRWUD 01-03-2002 02:02 PM

You guys would LOVE Southern California and all she has to offer!!! Besides, that's the only way I could make it. Our racing season this year is going to be twice as tough as it was last year because we are the defending champions. I'm already commited for nearly every weekend from March through November, and won't have but maybe two free weekends during that time. I also have a business to run, bills to pay and customers who depend on me. Right now is my "summer vacation" time. Starting the end of February, I'll pretty much be busy 7 days a week until Thanksgiving. I love you all like family, but my business and my team are my top two priorities, because they have to be. Even Vegas would be difficult. It would have to be a weekend we aren't racing, and when I wasn't backed up with work. Even then, I would have to head back home the next day. I'm not ruling it out, but realistically the odds look pretty slim. Keep me posted as you all make decisions.

Take care,
-Chris

Virginia is really far from us people in the middle of the US. I personally wouldn't go to either, especially in Virginia... I couldn't take the truck either... :( But I know the people from CA are not going to drive to kansas, Oklahoma, Etc....so 3 events seem more logical, but I don't see 3 events happening.
You got a prob with Virginia punk?????? :D I'm up for St. Louis.

929PhoenixSquid 01-03-2002 04:02 PM

Perfect Places to meet

Hey guys,
We could all meet in Oklahoma City. After all it is in the center of the U.S. And plus i live here. lol
We could all go out on the streets and have some quality street racing experiences, such as we usually do every weekend. There are 5.0's like crazy out here. Thats the overall fav. of most males 16-25. and then there are the slow camaro ss.....thats the fav of all gay males whos daddys bought them there cars from 14-17.:D
there would be a lot of mustang guys out here who would be happy to show you around and then we could hit the roads,
:)
thanks guys
kyle
let me know

DRASTiK 01-04-2002 03:50 PM

When Dan asked how many of us would ACTUALLY show up. I think that all depends on where and when this is going to happen! All of us will have times that will work and times that won't. The farther in advance, the better chance of more of us being able to be there. So..... Let's pick a time and place and get this show on the road. I'd love to be there. If it's in late July or early August, I know I'd be able to make it because I'll be driving cross country then anyways from Southern Cali to mid VA. However if it's any other time, I dunno yet.

Ed, we could definately meet up and travel together until we meet the others.
