MustangWorks get together!

Me and tireburner were just talking on AOL and thought it would be a great idea to have a HUGE MustangWorks get together sometime. It would be such a blast to meet and hang out with all of the members of this board!

Right away I started thinking of a place to do this. I figure, since Kansas is in the center of the country, it's the fairest place to do it! It wouldn't be fair to us Mid-westerners or Pacific coast people do to it in the east, and vice versa. (Plus Kansas is close to me!) But really, a lot of members are in the southern part of the country, and only a few states away from Kansas, like Texas, and Mississippi for tireburner. Hehe....I'm not forgetting you man!

Kansas City, Wichita, Topeka, even places like Oklahoma City, Denver, or St. Louis would work.

It would be best to do it in the summer, for obvious reasons. I'd be willing to put my car on a trailer and pull it with my Jeep and head somewhere to meet up with everyone.

So, what are the possibilities of this happening? At first I didn't think very good. And I'm still pesimistic. But the more I think about it, the easier it sounds.

Anyone else have any thoughts or opinions? And Dan, would you be willing to help coordinate this?

tireburner163 12-24-2001 12:45 AM

The chances of it happening are slim, but I'm a hard headed SOB and I would be willing to hop in the Slo Pony and haul my butt up to Kansas. I would be cool to finnaly meet some of you in person. Mercury, PKRWUD, Unit, 1Bad89, Skyman, 6T9 Pony, Topless in Texas, and a lot more. I can see it now, Merc would be the hit of the party, Unit and PKRWUD would be argueing over a tech question:D and 1Bad89 would be too busy driving people around in his S-10 to do anything else. I think I would be really cool and despite the incredable odds I say we give it a try. As my grandpa once told me "What worse, trying and failing or never trying at all."

Dan what do you think?

Crazy Horse GT 12-24-2001 12:52 AM

6t9pony sounds like a plan, wher would the most fair place to get it together, like you said, im on the east coast ,your in the midwest, then we got the northeasterners, then the west coast & you know we cant forget all the texan's,make this a poll? only fair way i see to do it.:)

1BAD89 12-24-2001 12:56 AM

:D Sounds good to me. ;) Just find a place, set a time, and I'll probaly be there, I love road trips.

tireburner163 12-24-2001 12:59 AM

Kansas because it's in the middle.

6T9PONY 12-24-2001 01:03 AM

I think somewhere in the central part of the country is the only fair place to do it. It's definitely not fair to easterners or westerners to do it on the opposite coast to them. I'd say Kansas, Oklahoma, and Missouri are our best choices. If this gets enough support then I'll post a poll out of those 3.

tireburner163 12-24-2001 01:08 AM

Oh, Oh. I support it, I support it.

But seriously, I wanna give it a try

Crazy Horse GT 12-24-2001 01:12 AM

ok i vote for mizery, i mean missouri, what do you think?

MidNiteBlu 5.0 12-24-2001 01:36 AM

That would be sweet to do. Hey us westerners should do a whole big caravan. That would be sweet. Skyman and PKRWUD and whoever else from up there can come down and get me and whoever else in San Diego and then go someplace in the middle of the U.S. Only problem i see is gas money on a 17 year old budget   LOL

Later,
Nick

6T9PONY 12-24-2001 01:52 AM

I think Kansas City, St. Louis, or Oklahoma City are the 3 best places.

But there is also Topeka, Wichita (both Kansas), Springfield (Missouri), or Tulsa (Oklahoma).

Should I make a poll?

Crazy Horse GT 12-24-2001 01:58 AM

yeah make it a poll, well have a good one, this old man has to crash, haha, oh yeah your still grounded -joke see ya.:D

6T9PONY 12-24-2001 02:08 AM

I'll probably make a poll tomorrow, we'll give some other people a chance to reply during the day tomorrow. I want this to happen really bad. And I'll let you all know I'm a very stubborn person and once I get started on something I hate to quit on it. I'm gonna try to see this through all the way, or at least as far as I can!! Even if for some reason I can't go, I'll still help it happen! But you guys better have camcorders there to show me the videos of it!!!!

69fastback 12-24-2001 02:25 AM

Hey i am in that is for sure. I would be awesome to meet everyone. The cool thing is i will be right there in kansas. So where ever it is it will be easy for me to get there. Set a date and a place and i will be there. If the army lets me that is.

6T9PONY 12-24-2001 02:28 AM

Anyone from Kansas?

Anyone from somewhere in Kansas? Or Missouri? Or Oklahoma?

6T9PONY 12-24-2001 02:30 AM

1BAD89 is from Tulsa. Maybe he could show us guys and girls around.:D ;) :p

MustangKelly96 12-24-2001 02:48 AM

:D
Sounds like a hell of an idea!
It would be great to meet the people behind the names (and cars) I live in Newburgh, Indiana which is only 3 hrs or so from St. Louis, MO

Kelly

Mercury 12-24-2001 03:49 AM

Sounds great to me. I'd love to meet the people of Mustang works. That would kick mad A$$. Middle America sounds good to me. Though Fayetteville NC sounds like a winner. :D

It would depend on my work schedule though. Make it during a weekend and I'd probably be able to go. I'd probably get lost as hell though on the way there. :D

WE'd Line em up, and I'd smoke all of you all. ;)

6T9PONY 12-24-2001 03:57 AM

It would most definitely be on a weekend. That would be about the only way to go. I'm thinking probably in late June throughout July.

Which car would you bring, Merc? The '64 1/2 or the GT?:D

tireburner163 12-24-2001 09:03 AM

Hey 6T9 Pony you should try contacting Dan to try to get some input from him.

RAGE_5.0 12-24-2001 09:30 AM

i will damn sure be there if my car is fixed by then(it better damn well be fixed)
just give me lots of notice so i can save up some money and take the time off of work
maybe i'll even have some mods by then

90'5.0 Conv 12-24-2001 10:25 AM

Good idea but .....

Hey guys, that is a great idea. The only problem I see is me driving all the way from South Ga to Kansas in my Stang, I don't have $200.00 for gas or a trailor to haul it with so I probably wouldn't be able to make it. I mean really, everyone wants to see each other and there stangs, I'm not going to drive my civic up their. LOL Anyways, Good luck on getting a bunch of these guys together. From talking to them, I would say most of them would definitely give it an all out effort to work it into the schedule. I just started my job, have no vacation time and like I said, it would be a pain to bring the car all that ways anyway.

Sorry guys,

James:(

Strawberryblond 12-24-2001 11:39 AM

It definately could work! I know for the Probe club I used to be apart of, they have national meets all the time. Their biggest one just took place in November called Myrtle Maddness. Obvioulsy they hold it in Myrtle Beach, SC. They've been doing this one for 5 years. The hype for this event is enormous! Tons of ppl go to this thing from all over. Even some ppl from Seattle went. Of course they flew in, instead of driving. Cause they were more interested in meeting the other ppl than driving all that way to show off their cars. They do car contests and lots of activities. It is very well planned. They even get discounts at local hotels.

Well, enough about some other club's meet... I think that having it in the summer is a good idea. But don't you think that we should have it in a more "happening" place? Forgive me... I guess I shouldn't say anything cause I've never been there. But it actually would be good to have it in Wichita cause my former best friend moved there... :)

Anyway... get ta plannin' will ya? ;)

2FastLX 12-24-2001 12:30 PM

I'll be there if you set it up for sometime in the early summer. I may have the notch done by then. A road trip with a 410 Stroker surely couldn't cost that much LOL.

You guys ever hear of CyberBrawl? Don't they do that somewhere in the middle of the US so most people can get there without driving too far? We should all just try to make that to support our favorite Stang site :D

6T9PONY 12-24-2001 03:10 PM

All the real "happening" places are on the coasts. And it's not very fair at all to have it on one coast or the other. Some central-USA cities will be just great for us.

I will try to contact Dan later today or tomorrow. My family is coming over pretty soon so I need to start getting ready for them.

I'm not sure where CyberBrawl is 2FastLX, anyone else?

Stang Runner 12-24-2001 03:24 PM

Hey guys that would be sweet to do some thing like that I would do my best to get there!!

lx mike 12-24-2001 04:03 PM

would it be just a get togetehr type thing or maybe a bit of racing soemwhere too??
there was no cyberbrawl this year it was run in bowling green ,KY dan was there he'll tell us about it if he has time.

Sorry guys,

You basically said everything I was gonna say. I would rather meet you guys with my '79 Stang than my 4-cyl '91, but that'd be way to far for a 3.55-geared, 3-speed auto stang :D.

HEY, maybe we could have cluster meets, where we people from the east meet in a middle state in the east (like all easterners would meet in Kentucky or Virginia, etc), same for west (meet in Cali) and same for mid-states members. I think that's WAY more practical than having a nationwide meet, right??

Stang Runner 12-24-2001 04:07 PM

That would be sweet to Like rent a track and have only us out there at it!!!!!!!!! I would be in if I could get there!!!!!

srv1 12-24-2001 04:31 PM

idea..

its sounds like a great idea! i agree with Fox Body, its gunna take some money for gas, but it all depends on when it is. i have to work just like the majority of you. there is no doubt in my mind that i want to go, its the finances. maybe Dan can contact MM&FF or 5.0 magazine and see if they want to come out too! then maybe we can get more people out and then maybe wherever we have it, the local hotels may give us discounts cause of the amount of people that will come to there town/city. just an idea. as for the drive, i really dont mind, i will just put earplugs in!:D

6T9PONY 12-24-2001 04:32 PM

I'm sure it would mainly just be a gathering, but I'm also sure that some people would have to go somewhere and run 'em! There's no possible way all us Stangers could go without racing eachother if we met up!

I'd really love to have a nationwide meet. But if enough people just say they want a regional thing, then that can be done, too. But I think it would be the coolest thing ever to get as many people from as many different places there at once!

Stang Runner has a great idea about renting a track. If there were enough of us, we could all pitch in, maybe even find some sponsors to help us, and we could rent the track for a day or whatever. Now how awesome would THAT be?!?!?

Keep it coming!

Mercury 12-24-2001 04:44 PM

If I had to travel much further than 100 miles, I would have to take the 2000 GT. I've driven the 289 64 1/2 coupe to PA before, but now I shudder at the thought of driving halfway across america during the summer with a Old overheating Coupe with No AC and black vinyl interior. Guess I'm getting old. :D

6T9PONY 12-24-2001 04:50 PM

Yeah that makes sense Mercury. I know how the black vinyl seats go, along with no a/c. But I hate a/c on old muscle cars. My 351 runs pretty hot too, so a big long trip would not be good on her. That's what the car trailer and the Jeep are for!

I have a solution for you. Put a hitch on your GT and pull the 64 1/2 on a car trailier!:D ;) Just joking!

Crazy Horse GT 12-24-2001 05:17 PM

i think i agree with foxbody,it's going to be too hard to have a nationwide meeting, so let's do the east , midwest , west coast thing, it would be easier & cheaper on everyone, we could take pic's and post them? what do ya think?:)

tireburner163 12-24-2001 05:24 PM

The east coast, west coast thing is cool, but I like the idea of a national event better. But if enough people want the reginal thing then that would be cool. But I wanted to meet 6T9 Pony, Skyman, and PKRWUD.

BTW it's not about what you drive it's about meeting you. It dosen't matter what you drive there.

1BAD89 12-24-2001 05:30 PM

We could rent a track and a dyno for a day if there were enough people. I don't think it's that much to rent a track. I like the nationwide thing, but I can understand why people wouldn't come.

Crazy Horse GT 12-24-2001 05:33 PM

well ok but i would have to drive my gt, its the newest ride i have & still under warranty-hehe got that fomoco roadside assistance deal on it too,not that i would need it.:D

Fox Body 12-24-2001 05:40 PM

Yes, it's cool to just meet the people here, but if we did meet, I would like to bring my car (the FOX-- the '79) too. If I left her here and went to meet you guys, she'd kick my butt when I returned. :D

I would definately LIKE a nationwide meet more than regional, but in terms of practicality, I would only be able to do a regional thing (as I see it as of now). But hey, don't let me stop you guys from having a nationwide meet. I hope it happens (I just probably wouldn't be able to make it though, sorry).

1BAD89 12-24-2001 05:41 PM

Everyone needs to realize if you have it in Oklahoma, Missouri, Kansas, etc.. I really doubt people from CA are going to drive 24 hours.....same way with the other coast. Well...maybe....but it'd have to be a kick a$$ get together...... ;)

RAGE_5.0 12-24-2001 05:45 PM

ok who that is over 21 is gonna supply a 17 year old with the neccesities?
thats my concern
everything else is covered
i'm just kidding by the way
or am i????:D

HiFlow5 0 12-24-2001 05:51 PM

thats a good idea! i live pretty far east and would consider going if it were centralized. i don't know about renting a track? its a good idea, but i would be scared about beating my car for a few runs, having something break, then not be able to drive it home afterwards. could trailer it, but thats no fun i wanna drive it not look at it in the rearview!

Stang Runner 12-24-2001 05:52 PM

What do you drive a $cly stang that is takes 24HR hehe I have Never gone more than 1800 miles in the stang with out stoping Heck it was fun..... Had it Up too at lest 135+MPH on the down side of the moutains All 3 lanes to us!! and Going up at 95MPH Man Late at night 1-4am did the 1800 miles in Under 19Hrs With the stops!!!!!! the people were very supprised to see us when we go there!!!!!!You left last night..... how did you get here We looked at them and said We took the stang for a good reason!!!!

MidNiteBlu 5.0 12-24-2001 06:08 PM

I think it would be better to have a nationwide get together because 3/4 of you guys live in Nebraska, Oklahoma, Tennesee etc. There are only a few that live in Cali that are active on this site alot. (PKRWUD,Skyman, me :) , etc.) Plus I would be willing to go out there if I knew almost everyone was gonna show up as long as my budget and my parents would let me. The idea of renting a track is a great one!

Later

bri32z 12-24-2001 06:21 PM

im there

1BAD89 12-24-2001 06:23 PM

Where you live Bri32z?

MidNiteBlu 5.0 12-24-2001 06:27 PM

Yea I wanna see ur car! 3 more to go! :)

Unit 5302 12-24-2001 06:40 PM

I vote for Oklahoma City. My cousin lives there, and my Uncle just near the TX border in Ardmore. I would have no problems making it there sometime. It's pretty hard to set stuff like this up though. Everybody has different schedules to work around.

But really, if you want to get technical, Minnesota is just as close to people as Texas, heeheh.

I say we go out to St. Louis, all stay at the same hotel and all trek together to World Ford Challenge together. I think its like the second or third week of May. That would be awesome, plus alot of people on here would already be making the trip to WFC anyway, so that would kill 2 birds with one stone.

Either way, I'm definately there. And if we go to a track, I'm bringing an extra T-5 and set of axles, just incase.

Dan, the 5.0 or MM&FF magazine idea is awesome. Just imagine the advertisement that mustangworks would get with having a 6 page spread on the meet (with my car on the cover of course :D, well maybe the deathmachine too)

I know that the meets are fun. 2FastLX has planned quite a few, with 3 of them held at a track and have had quite a good turn out from indiana and other midwest people. So I KNOW that it's a great time. Heck, thats how Kevin (2fastLx) and I met and have become pretty good friends. thats also how i met the guy that gave me the great deal on the T-5 so i could swap out the AOD.

sorry i wrote so much, i just really want it to happen, later

6T9PONY 12-25-2001 01:34 AM

Wow, I'm very pleased with the responses on this thread. Thanks guys!

I would love to have a nationwide meet, like I said before. But with some replies to this, it's less than practical. I definitely realize that, and understand.

We at least need to have regional meetings, of course. I don't think anything in May would be possible. That's a little too early, I think. June, July, early August, are all probabilities.

I do agree with tireburner in his statement about how it doesn't matter what you drive, we would just like to meet up. That's true, but it would be awesome to see some of your guys' primary Stangs, your pride and joy.

I think Oklahoma City is a great idea. I have an uncle that lives there with a '70 440 Challenger. Not that it matters or anything, I was just sayin....

I know it would be extremely difficult for the coasters to make it in to the central US. But I can guarantee it would be worth it if you could make it! Just the fact you're meeting ME would make it worthwhile. :D ;)

The magazine idea someone had is awesome. How cool would that be to have all us guys featured in there!! I'd probably cry....:p

Keep posting!

Topless In Texas 12-25-2001 02:20 AM

COUNT ME IN!!! :)

COUNT ME IN!!! I flew my butt up to Dulles, and ended up in Rising Sun Maryland to meet MW Peeps..(who there was a very small turn out!) And i only live 20 minutes from GALVESTON! If you do it more mid country, I'd LOVE to make a drive out!!! I MISSED MY CAR!!! If ya'll decide to do it in the summer that would be cool! (my b/day is july 20th!) but regardless, I only work Tues-Thursday and can hit the road. I myself would like a place where I wouldn't have to drive 15 hours just to get out of TEXASS! No WEST coast!!!! And, I LOVE road trips!!! This could possibly be the trip where Topless turns over 100K!!!!!!
How did I miss this thread???? Keep me informed, I'll be there! :D
