My 89 LX first snow
 

Well the weather man said that we were going to get a total of about an inch of accumilation....
Well we got ian inch along with about 3 more inches !!!!

This has been my 89 LX's forst snow since I have owned it. Awwww

I just drove my GT home from a nearby mountain pass where i went snowboarding in heavy snow all day. Most people had chains, which was surprising since it also only snowed about 3-4 inches while i was up there. I got lucky though, because i think chains were required and cops were pulling people over. I'm probably going to buy some this week because i don't feel like getting a ticket or lectured by a cop for not using chains.

My mustang sucks in the snow, but it was also kinda fun and wasn't all that hard to control with some OK snow tires. How did your car do 3rd stang?

No disrespect but why would anyone want to drive a V-8 mustang in the snow?
I have too much time and money into my '82GT to wrap it around a telephone pole pole in the winter. That's why I buy a $200 beater for the winter and could care less if I smack it up.

Because a V-8 Mustang is just fine in the snow when equipped with good snow tires. My 87GT is just a fun car to me. Nothing special, in fact, I've never liked it. I bought it cause I had to get something and I wanted another Mustang GT, so I settled for this one.

I have directional tires on the rear of it nowand their worn down a bit. Didnt think it woulda snowed this year. Just like a V-8 my four cylinder is a little difficult to control. But this year it has done fairly well in rain and snow.

:confused: I don't really see the problem either. As long as you drive carefully and know how to control a rear wheel drive vehicle in slippery conditions, you shouldn't have any problems. I drive BOTH my civic and the mustang in the winter...my only concern ever is road salt :)

have to agree ,that mustangs aren't that bad in the snow......had my 87 in the snow last winter ,i let a little air out of the back tires put a few cinder blocks in it ......thing did fine...............if you put some snow tires on em and put some skinny tires on front ,they actually do pretty good .......i drove a few 4 cylinder foxes in the winter set up like that .....they did great

this year i've been letting the stang sit ........my little 84 nissan is a little bit better in the snow ......... i wouldn't give a crap if i bounce it off an inatement object and it has the snow tires on it ......whereas the mustang has almost bald tires on it

I was going to use my '84 for a snow vehicle but it started being less and less dependable (accumilation of larger and larger problems) and i really don't feel like going through the trouble of buying a beater that will potentially leave me stranded 40 miles from anything up in a freezing mountain pass. I actually went yesterday as well, and it was dumping snow and the GT handled it fairly well (although there were a few "discomforting" moments). Before the next time i go up i'll buy chains and something to weight down the rear. I found that as long as i let off the gas when the GT starts to want to walk around i don't end up facing the other way. The funny thing is so far i've driven past horrible drivers in 4 wheel drive vehicles that expect too much from their vehicles and end up in snow drifts on the side of the road, and i'm driving a RWD V8 car that's gutted with 3.55 gears and traction-lok rear..... I can't image how dumb someone has to be to be able to full on spin a 4wd vehicle off a fairly tame snowy road.....maybe after a few more spins those people will learn not to be so dumb....then again maybe not :D

Thos people with the 4x4's think that they are invincible just because of 4 wheel drive. Those sport utility vehicles only give a false feeling of security.

I've been driving in the snow for 10 years, only had one incident when I ran off the road coming off the interstate. I've seen a Caddy blow past me and end up in the ditch down the road. It's all driver and the Mustang is a driver's car.

Practically any car can be driven in the snow. All you have to do is found out what the car's limmitations are and then adapt to them.

All you have to do is drive and find out what you can do and can't do in the car....almost like a practice makes perfect type thing...the more you drive it the better you can make it handle.

You can't get into a car and expect it to handle, accelerate and all that, perfectly. I do agree with 82 GT, a car is only as good as it's driver.
