The waves were non-existant Sunday, we were joking about needing a canoe. Its usually bigger, but not real big. We get waist to chest high usually unless there is a storm. I went out during Hurricane Bertha, some years ago. One day last week I heard it was over head, nothing like you Cali boys have though. Serious surfers make trips to the outer banks(Cape Hatteras), its alot bigger there, I hear. The currents are real strong here too, every year you hear about vacationers drowning.
Shelby, I didn't plan on going. Charlotte is a 4 hour drive from here and I'm kinda broke anyhow. Hmmm.. I could get the tent for the truck and camp out.... Hmm... something to think about. Oh crap, that's labor day weekend... no, I'm not going. |

Squall report
Back in the '60's-'70's, when the weatherman reported a "squall" out in the Gulf of Mexico, you would see all of these Woodies with surf boards on the roof headed for Galveston. I guess it was the only time decent waves would be likely around here.
By then, I think "Woodies" had degenerated into Chevy II vans and Ford Econolines. Rev |
hahahahahahah
LMAO! Yeah Rev....too funny....the only good time here to catch a wave is when there is a hurricane coming into the gulf and on the news you see them all out there on their boards... or go to Palm Beach at Moody Gardens in the Man Made Wave Pool! LOL! TNT :D

Chris, I showed my girl that pic you posted, she was impressed. We were on the beach this afternoon and she said "maybe we should move to California". Hehehe. I just looked at her and said, yeah.. I'm sure its nice but this has been good enough for 32 yrs and I guess its good enough for the rest of my life, this is my home:).. besides, I don't think I could afford to live in Cali.
That is beautiful though, the water seems more blue than here. BTW, what is that in the middle of the wave(not the surfer, the dot), a jellyfish? |

That's cool that you live so close. My sister has lived in 2 places about that close. My best friend, her boyfriend lives....well, he DOES have the ocean in his back yard. Walk out the door and your in the sand, walk out the gate and you're on the beach. He's a surfer... I don't really like the water (I think it's nasty), but I love the ocean. Looking @ it, sunsets, etc. :) |
Labor day's my b-day, not sure what we'll be doing, maybe Vegas. That's what we did last year, but that's different. I have holidays, there are too many people out. One year, went to Vegas to vist (w/ my friend) to visit her grandparents for 2 weeks, this wads during Christmas and New Years. One of the guys I rode to vegas on the bus actually died there. On news year eve, everyone was drunk and stoned and just acting all out crazy. He climbed a light pole and got electricuted. The next day we saw it on the news and realized he looked familiar. We commented on it on the way back and his friends confermed we were right. Sucky for them. We were safe in a old folks home trailer park, god was it boring. We went to their party, we were so bored, we lied and said we were tired. We went back and watched the news. Anyways....
