My back yard (last sunday)
1 Attachment(s)
OK, its not really my back yard but it about 10 minutes from it:D. We went to the beach last Sunday and I thought I'd take some pics to show you guys. This is why I bought a 4 wheel drive. I haven't had one in 2 years and its time to do some catching up. We usually grill a few steaks when we get home. BTW, the coolers on the side of my new truck actually work!!:D One less thing to pack..

I absolutely love driving out there! Someone talked me into trading my new Z71 in on a cobra vert in 2000, good to have a 4x4 again:).
Marty, absolutely. They sell a tent for the back of my truck for $240 and I'm gonna get one and camp out there with it. You're welcome to come, I have another tent too:D. Christine, you know your dogs. His name is Barley. I had no idea what kind of dog he was until my girl's daughter and her boyfriend told me, its their dog. They met us out there in his jeep and a guy from work brought his family and met us out there. We always have a blast, no waves Sunday though.. no matter, I'm alittle rusty on my surfing(OK, I never was real good, LOL). I still enjoy it though:D |
cool rick, boogie boards are more fun than surf board's, you get to lay down on them, heheh, im lazy, i used to boogie board in hawaii, it was a blast, may see ya there someday, l8ter. marty.:D :D ;)

NOT FAIR!! Just makes me realize how bad oklahoma sucks I am moving to NC!!!!!!!!!
 |
I saw what looked like a surf board behind the dog, and then realized it couldn't have been. Looked like an ocean, but you ain't got no waves man. And y'all drive on the beach back there, what is it Pismo?
Now I'm going to have to grab a digital camera and make everybody jealous. The US Open (surfing) has been held in San Clemente. Moved it back north a little, because the beaches are bigger up there. |
Hey Rick, you're in North Carolina, are you going to Grand Nationals at the end of the Month?
Shelby |
That's cool, man, I live about 5 mins from the beach driving, but we're not allowed to drive our cars on it! :(

Is Marro Bay and San Simeon the hot spot in wine tasting or what?!!!:D :D I think thats the only place I have ever seen cars on the beach . cool pics rick |
I'm surronded by beaches here, I live on the North Shore of LI. There is absolutley no way you can drive your car on the beaches here. I think there was a special permit you could buy in the past. All the good beaches require you to live in the town or pay a large "parking" fee. But it is a fun place to go during the summer, when you are not racing, wrenching, or working.
|
Looks very cool man, wish I lived near a beach. :D Nice dog too, =) He seems to be camouflaging with the sand, or atleast trying too. :D
Enjoy the 4x4 that's gotta be alot of fun. §am. |
Thats cool that you can drive on the beach, here you cant. But you guys have no waves!!! Those things are tiny!! :D
And...... The Pacific Ocean is better!!! ;) ;) :D :D Sponging kicks ***!! (boogie boarding to the non knowers :p ) Later, Nick |

The waves were non-existant Sunday, we were joking about needing a canoe. Its usually bigger, but not real big. We get waist to chest high usually unless there is a storm. I went out during Hurricane Bertha, some years ago. One day last week I heard it was over head, nothing like you Cali boys have though. Serious surfers make trips to the outer banks(Cape Hatteras), its alot bigger there, I hear. The currents are real strong here too, every year you hear about vacationers drowning.
Shelby, I didn't plan on going. Charlotte is a 4 hour drive from here and I'm kinda broke anyhow. Hmmm.. I could get the tent for the truck and camp out.... Hmm... something to think about. Oh crap, that's labor day weekend... no, I'm not going. |

Squall report
Back in the '60's-'70's, when the weatherman reported a "squall" out in the Gulf of Mexico, you would see all of these Woodies with surf boards on the roof headed for Galveston. I guess it was the only time decent waves would be likely around here.
By then, I think "Woodies" had degenerated into Chevy II vans and Ford Econolines. Rev |
hahahahahahah
LMAO! Yeah Rev....too funny....the only good time here to catch a wave is when there is a hurricane coming into the gulf and on the news you see them all out there on their boards... or go to Palm Beach at Moody Gardens in the Man Made Wave Pool! LOL! TNT :D
|
Chris, I showed my girl that pic you posted, she was impressed. We were on the beach this afternoon and she said "maybe we should move to California". Hehehe. I just looked at her and said, yeah.. I'm sure its nice but this has been good enough for 32 yrs and I guess its good enough for the rest of my life, this is my home:).. besides, I don't think I could afford to live in Cali.
That is beautiful though, the water seems more blue than here. BTW, what is that in the middle of the wave(not the surfer, the dot), a jellyfish? |

That's cool that you live so close. My sister has lived in 2 places about that close. My best friend, her boyfriend lives....well, he DOES have the ocean in his back yard. Walk out the door and your in the sand, walk out the gate and you're on the beach. He's a surfer... I don't really like the water (I think it's nasty), but I love the ocean. Looking @ it, sunsets, etc. :) |
Labor day's my b-day, not sure what we'll be doing, maybe Vegas. That's what we did last year, but that's different. I have holidays, there are too many people out. One year, went to Vegas to vist (w/ my friend) to visit her grandparents for 2 weeks, this wads during Christmas and New Years. One of the guys I rode to vegas on the bus actually died there. On news year eve, everyone was drunk and stoned and just acting all out crazy. He climbed a light pole and got electricuted. The next day we saw it on the news and realized he looked familiar. We commented on it on the way back and his friends confermed we were right. Sucky for them. We were safe in a old folks home trailer park, god was it boring. We went to their party, we were so bored, we lied and said we were tired. We went back and watched the news. Anyways....
