Uhm, why don't we just post a few time slips and maybe clear up some of the confusion?

LIZARD BOY: First of all, at what altitude? If you do the adjusting, mine would equate to approximately a 14.5..with an automatic...so not too bad afterall wise guy. Maybe you shouldn't mouth off so much!

FivepointOH 12-31-2000 12:40 AM

Hmm.. yeah i'd like to see a scanned time slip(not trying to say you're lying just kind of.. doubtful).

Yeah I'm with Rev, how bout that timeslip photo. Not saying you're lying but 13.6 in a "stock" GT?! That ain't so far from a C5. And given, there are mutant cars out there, but you gotta admit....

Ok guys, I will borrow a digital Cam and get you a picture of the time slip.

Without a doubt,... my best proof though are my friends that have seen it... including Try ME (member).

My car is running consitently 13.70-13.72 ... it hit 13.698.

Altitude... in Ottawa, Ontario. I don't know what the altitude is. Certainly not sea side (1500 miles away from Atlantic).

How do you launch it?

Mr. Lee 01-02-2001 12:23 PM

i'm new here so bear with me...

wouldn't an auto with a tq converter and shift kit be just as fast, if not faster than it's eually matched 5 speed counterpart?

Lizard King 01-02-2001 12:39 PM

Know that is a good question yet EZRIDN.

The trick is in the launch and second gear shift.

Launch from almost nothing 1500-2000rpm... and prevent tire slip,

Then when shifiting into second (at 5500rpm - not redline), slide the clutch so you don't get a tire slipage. If you power shift, you will get too much wheel spin... that'll put you out .05 to .1.

When you line up... make sure your getting a shallow launch... (give your self more track to work with.

With stock tires, i find that massive burnouts don't do much... Just make sure your tires are clean... wheel spin for abour 3-5 seconds, after going through the water.

Keep looking at your target when you launch... keep your car as straight as possible to the line.

I can't wait for the next time we pull up on an ususpecting 99 Auto 'Vert :-)

Rev 01-02-2001 03:33 PM

Mr. Lee, I think built automatics are only faster in really quick, powerful cars. An auto tranny has to turn an oil pump to produce line pressure that makes the thing work. I use a C-4 with a B&M shift kit and a TCI 2500 stall torque converter. This works well for me and is very consistent. The C-4 does cast me probably 20-25 h.p. though. That's OK, I like it anyway. 4 and 5 speeds with the same set up would be faster, but only with a good driver.

I hear that.! A friend of mine has a '99 GT and I ran a 13.53 @ 104.28 mph with it. It has a k&n, air silencer removed, flowmasters, and 275/40/17 drag radials. We took this car out on the street marked off the 1/4 and blew through the traps spraying a 150 shot at about 125mph this should be good for a low 12 sec ET. These motors respond really well to power adders.

mystic96:

Ahh, 125mph is not good for low 12's. Try low 11's maybe 10's. I can't see a 99 GT with 150 shot pulling 125mph in the 1320. Sounds like the 1320 you marked was more like 1800-2000 feet.

Then again maybe I'm wrong! http://www.mustangworks.com/interact...board/wink.gif

21 mph from 150 shot. Damn, I want that shot. My car runs in the 13.8 range without the spray and 12.3 @ 110 with it. I forgot my mph N/A, but I know I am only gaining about 8 mph with the 150 shot. Let me know how he does it.

thanks rev. that sounds like a good setup you've got there. i'm hoping for an auto (never thought i'd say that!)myself. i've driven nothing but standards since i was 12 yrs. old. (don't tell the po po http://www.mustangworks.com/interact...rd/biggrin.gif)i guess in my old age, i'm ready for an auto, but only one with gahones enough to please. that's where the 5.0 comes in.
