My friend pulled a 13.698 with his stock 2000GT.
He pulled his left headlight out for a RAM air effect to acheive this... but can anyone say they match that time with a stock 99-01 GT.
Or even better, can a stock 95-98 Cobra beat this time? Forward your comments to him at his e-mail: sfortin@ovega.ca. |
What exactly does "stock" mean? Did he have gears, flows, K&N, shifter....what kind of tires was he running? What mph did he run? Nice time though.

he pulled his head light out so the "stock" vortech could pull more air..

Hi,
I assume his friend has a bone-stock, off-the-showroom-floor 2000GT. http://www.mustangworks.com/interact...rd/biggrin.gif Nonetheless, very impressive. Bye! ------------------ Gautam N. Lad http://www.cubicdesign.com http://www.cubicdesign.com/mustang/ |
This guy's car does not have tint, it does not have a K&N Air filter. Everything is stock from Ford's original assembly.
With the headlight in, he is consistently pulling 13.9, with a couple of rare 13.8. With the 99-01 GTs you can easilt pull out the headlights. If you remove the left one, it gives a more direct access to air. Well this guy, gained a consistent low 13.7, and even a single 13.6 1/4 mile run like that. I've seen it; it's true, but it just seems abit of spec, no? |
So it only takes 260 hp at the flywheel to pull a 13.6! WOW I wonder why 300 + hp LS1's are so slow in comparison, even with shorter gearing? Maybe pulling the headlamp out gains 70 horses or so, maybe I will try that.
|
Either this guy can really launch on radials or the cars a mutant off the assembly line.
|
I've seen a few 99-2000 GTs that ran similiar numbers (13.8s), although its not all that common. I've never seen one w/o a headlight, so I don't know.
But to anwser your question, there's a guy on the Corral named Mike Smith I think, that ran a 13.08 in his bone stock (tires, gears, filters, headlights, everything) 1997 Cobra. If I remember right his car didn't dyno all that well either, like 259 rwhp or so. ------------------ AIM: Some97Snake |
Umm I still want to know what mph he was running that 13.6 with, and what mph did he gain from the headlight being taken out?
------------------ 92 AOD GT, K&N, ram air, pulleys, 2 ch. flowmasters, 4:10's, shift kit, 1 5/8 mac longtubes and offroad hpipe 14.249 @ 97.34 mph before the headers and hpipe |
I'm the Lizard King, ... TRY ME's friend. I'm the guy with mutant stang (hehehe).
First, I want to specify that I got 13.6 - 1/4 mile at the worst track in my region. For those of you who know the track is Luskville DragStrip. Which is always 0.1-0.2 and 1-2 MPH slower that SANAIR or NapierVille. My trap speed is 101.2MPH for the 13.698... 60ft on stock Goodyear crap tires is 2.1. The head light comes of in about 10 seconds. Two clips and it's off. It gave me about 1MPH and .2secs of the 1/4. I keep my STOCK air filter in when I do this. ... When I take it off, my time seems to go up,... something about timing. Can anyone with a stock or even close to stock 99-01 beat this time? |
I'm sure somebody will match that time or beat it eventually with a stocker. Somebody always does better just when you think you're the fastest. They'll just have to remember to pull the headlight to keep things even. http://www.mustangworks.com/interact...board/wink.gif

That is what I thought.
|
I would think he would have to pull a better 60' than that to run a 13.6 with only 100mph.
Skyler BTW guys LS1's trap more like 105. ------------------ -1989 Saleen Mustang #406- TFS Heads, Edelbrock intake, E-303, 3.73's, 1 5/8 shorty headers, Offroad-Hpipe, 2chamber flows, 36psi FPR, playing with timing still, 70mm tb, 73mm maf, 24lb injectors, K/N, March Crank pulley, MSD6a, 9mm wires and FMS Aluminum driveshaft. Yea, really , 2.1 60' doesn't sound good enough for a 13.6
VERDICT: the cars a mutant. ---------------------- 99 gt bassani x-pipe, magnaflows, 14.0 @ 101.5 |
It's a freak alright. I'll testify to that. Everyone thinks he's invincible around here.
I've only seen him lose to other more serious iron. i.e. 911, Carmello's Camaro and that french guy with the modded LS1 WS6. Oh yeah... and that stupid TURBO HONDA CIVIC! |
Hey Try Me.
First you know that CIVIC on Drugs pulled a 13.7 (ONCE) and never came remotely close to beat me on any race what so ever. Second Carmello has beat me on 1/8 miles cuz he's got kick *** tires, but I always pull out to beat him (with the head light in). I have been beaten once by an Audi S4 as well... one and 1/2 car lenght. And the 2000 911 Carrera 4 only beats me by one car lenght... not bad considering he pad $120,000 for it. I must admit the Drugged up Civic is starting to worry me... but I'm still a better driver. ------------------ Lizard King - 00GT "I can do anything, I'm the Lizard King." - The Doors |
This is crap! I had a stock (with only a k&n) and it would only run a 15.0 at 4500 feet. I was not impressed. I hope that the hype about the 2002 will prove true. Maybe I will try another Mustang if all comes true.

http://www.mustangworks.com/interact...d/rolleyes.gifHey WHT99GT, this just proves one thing.
http://www.mustangworks.com/interact...gboard/eek.gif Your are a very bad driver. My girlfriend pulled a 14.4 at the track second time driving the car. Maybe you shouldn't be driving a Mustang. I'm very dissapointed in you. |
Uhm, why don't we just post a few time slips and maybe clear up some of the confusion?

LIZARD BOY: First of all, at what altitude? If you do the adjusting, mine would equate to approximately a 14.5..with an automatic...so not too bad afterall wise guy. Maybe you shouldn't mouth off so much!

Hmm.. yeah i'd like to see a scanned time slip(not trying to say you're lying just kind of.. doubtful).

Yeah I'm with Rev, how bout that timeslip photo. Not saying you're lying but 13.6 in a "stock" GT?! That ain't so far from a C5. And given, there are mutant cars out there, but you gotta admit....

Ok guys, I will borrow a digital Cam and get you a picture of the time slip.
Without a doubt,... my best proof though are my friends that have seen it... including Try ME (member). My car is running consitently 13.70-13.72 ... it hit 13.698. Altitude... in Ottawa, Ontario. I don't know what the altitude is. Certainly not sea side (1500 miles away from Atlantic). ------------------ Lizard King - 00GT >> 13.698 @ 101.2MPH - BONE STOCK, yes BONE(even air filter) stock. How do you launch it?
------------------ '86 GT. Gears & Flows |
i'm new here so bear with me...
wouldn't an auto with a tq converter and shift kit be just as fast, if not faster than it's eually matched 5 speed counterpart? |
Know that is a good question yet EZRIDN.
The trick is in the launch and second gear shift. Launch from almost nothing 1500-2000rpm... and prevent tire slip, Then when shifiting into second (at 5500rpm - not redline), slide the clutch so you don't get a tire slipage. If you power shift, you will get too much wheel spin... that'll put you out .05 to .1. When you line up... make sure your getting a shallow launch... (give your self more track to work with. With stock tires, i find that massive burnouts don't do much... Just make sure your tires are clean... wheel spin for abour 3-5 seconds, after going through the water. Keep looking at your target when you launch... keep your car as straight as possible to the line. ------------------ Lizard King - 00GT >> 13.698 @ 101.2MPH - BONE STOCK, yes BONE(even air filter) stock. WHT99GT: It's LIZARD KING!
Word up Lizard King! I was there man (in the back seat videotaping 13.7's- 13.8's). Seb - find a way to post it for the non-belivers out there! I can't wait for the next time we pull up on an ususpecting 99 Auto 'Vert :-) |
Mr. Lee, I think built automatics are only faster in really quick, powerful cars. An auto tranny has to turn an oil pump to produce line pressure that makes the thing work. I use a C-4 with a B&M shift kit and a TCI 2500 stall torque converter. This works well for me and is very consistent. The C-4 does cast me probably 20-25 h.p. though. That's OK, I like it anyway. 4 and 5 speeds with the same set up would be faster, but only with a good driver.

I hear that.! A friend of mine has a '99 GT and I ran a 13.53 @ 104.28 mph with it. It has a k&n, air silencer removed, flowmasters, and 275/40/17 drag radials. We took this car out on the street marked off the 1/4 and blew through the traps spraying a 150 shot at about 125mph this should be good for a low 12 sec ET. These motors respond really well to power adders.

Just wanted to see my new signature.

mystic96:
Ahh, 125mph is not good for low 12's. Try low 11's maybe 10's. I can't see a 99 GT with 150 shot pulling 125mph in the 1320. Sounds like the 1320 you marked was more like 1800-2000 feet. 21 mph from 150 shot. Damn, I want that shot. My car runs in the 13.8 range without the spray and 12.3 @ 110 with it. I forgot my mph N/A, but I know I am only gaining about 8 mph with the 150 shot. Let me know how he does it.
