My recent Cobra disaster(s)

A few weeks ago, one of my fuel pumps decided to quit. I was too lazy to figure out if it was my T-rex or not. Hell I hate the car anyways. :/ So a couple of weeks ago, I was driving around my little brother and sister, and all of a sudden the car shut off! So I started it back up again, and smoke started pouring out from under the hood. I quickly shut off the ignition and popped to hood.

I found that the lead going to my T-rex (which the previous owner SMARTLY ran under the car) caught on fire and completely burned up. The zip tie holding the lead wire off of my exhaust broke, and severed the wire. This caused the wire to arc against my exhaust. GREAT! The next day I replace the lead wire, this time running it inside the car, only to find out that I now had a fuel leak in the braided line going to my fuel pressure gauge. Upon closer inspection, the fire from my lead wire burnt the line, causing it to leak. THANK GOD it didn't ignite!

So anyways I get that all fixed, and went for a test drive. I tightened down my distributor nut, since it kept loosening and retarding my timing to -6°. The car finally had power, however I didn't dare get on the throttle, since I didn't want to ruin a good thing (that the car was running!). So I went to my little brother's house.. or so I thought. I didn't make it a mile and half down the road when the car suddenly died. I had fuel pressure, but no spark. Crap my ignition is all screwed.

So now I am too lazy to bother to mess with it. Plus I am afraid of how much more money I have to spend on this POS. So when I eventually get around to fixing it, I'm putting it on the market the next day.

I know exactly how you feel! My mustang has been sitting in the driveway for most of the past year. I upgraded the charging system and now the blown 'o-ringed' head gasket is being fixed. I should be driving around in it again soon... the blower is coming off though. Good luck with your car, it would be hard for me to part with mine.

Rebel79, sorry to hear about all the recent crap, man... that really SUCKS!! . I know how it is to have a lot of car problems thrown in your way all around the same time. Makes you want to just forget it all and by an Escort. There have been a few times when I 've gotten so frustrated with it all, I had to take a break from the car, MW and almost everything that has to do with cars. You spend your hard earned time, money and labor into a car, you got goals and all and there seems to be roadblocks after roadblocks. I know it all sucks sometimes and it is an expensive hobby. Sometimes, when I get frustrated, I don't want to got to the dragstrip or read any MM&FF mags. Sometimes it lasts weeks, sometimes months... But in the long run, I just cannot see myself on the outside looking into the muscle car scene.

So what are your plans for the car? To fix it and sell it? :(. Are you feeling you need a rest from the game? Get away from it all for a while, usually helps me. See the ricers don't understand the frustration cause putting stickers on their cars doesn't take a lot of effort and hard work.

From my perspective, I'd hate to see you get rid of your car, but I don't really know what it's put you through :). Just hope you do what's best for you. (sorry so long... I'm not trying to be your therapist or anything  :D )
