My Tattoo.... yea or nay?
OK, I picked out the COOLEST tattoo design!!! The Mustangs Unlimited Logo! I really want it but would like some input from you guys/gals that might have one? I want it on my lower back and only like 1 1/2 to 2 inches big. Do you guys think I should get it? I mean I want it REALLY bad but do you think I should actually get it?

Jodi:
Wow, kewl idea and very flattering to Mustang Works. It's your decision of course but this guy says "Go for it, girl!". If you decide to get it, you are 'required' to have a photo taken and displayed on this board. Don't keep us in suspense! [This message has been edited by Mr 5 0 (edited 03-05-2001).] |
LOL... it's guys like you that make me do these crazy things!!! http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/tongue.gif Spring Break is coming up... I might do it then if I get the same response from others as I did from you! http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/biggrin.gif

Hey Jodi.
I know you're excited about Mustangs (probably not as much as I am-- seriously http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/tongue.gif), but as crazy as I am about them, I wouldn't get a tatoo of 'em. Well, you asked for opinions, and even though Mustangs rule w/o a doubt, don't get that tattoo. (I know everyone else will probably think I'm crazy) --Just in case you think I'm some old grandpa stuck in the '50s, I'm a college senior, 23 years old, w/ braided hair, and deep into the Metal scene. http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/smile.gif ------------------------------- '79 Mustang Coup 4" Cowl Weld wheels (15x6;15x8) Stock 5.8L C4 w/ shift kit 1.5" MAC full length headers Holley 750 CFM Edelbrock intake 2.5" Off road H-pipe, 2-chamber Flowmasters 8.8" Rear end w/ 3.55 gears (Now that's more like it!!) http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/biggrin.gif Front: 225/60/15 Rear: 255/60/15 Eagle GT II 14 x 4” K&N air filter (getting the Xtreme setup soon) http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/cool.gif "Red, thou art my companion. I can't believe that response from Mr. 5.0!! I'd expect him to say how you may regret it years from now and you may change your mind later and it will still be there. Well, since he didn't say it.... I am.
|
I'd like to add: "It's your thang, do what you wanna do. I can't tell ya.... not to get the tattoo" http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/biggrin.gif

Ahhh.. don't listen to me. I just not real big on tattos or anything that won't go away (easily) if you decide you don't like it anymore. http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/smile.gif

aaaaaaa go for it, if you're a mustang fan then you're a mustang fan.
But seriously, just give it some thought. Plus, you could always just get it and not tell anyone *wink wink*. I'll give you a thumbs up on the idea. you could always keep it smaller or something, that way it's not as tough to take off. |
Sorry to throw out negative vibes Jodi.
But whatever ya do, consider what Tod said: "...just give it some thought." Give it much thought. Hey I got a great idea!! Just get one of those water-applied tattoes! WOW! Then you can take it off and put it on whenever you want to. well, it's a very simple small design... that's why I liked it so much. If I knew how to post pics up I would show everyone exactly what I'm talking about

And I want to get something that else on my right arm, not too sure what yet but I was thinking about a bald eagle with my dog tags in its' grasp. In your original post you said you wanted the Mustangs Unlimited logo. Mr 5 0 was commenting about you getting the MustangWorks logo. Which is it?
I always kinda thought the "Mean LX" would make a cool tattoo because it looks just like my car (and Mr 5 0's as well huh?) done up in caricature form. I myself will probable never get a tattoo, but if I did that would be the one I'd get. Or maybe one of my skull ink drawings. And to post a pic Red, right click on the image you want to post and do a properties. You will see the URL of the image in the window that pops up. Copy that. Then in your post type this... <img>URL of image here</img> but replce the <> brackets with these [] ------------------ Indiana Stangers Association Buy your parts here [This message has been edited by 2FastLX (edited 03-06-2001).] |

As one of the more senior members here at MustangWorks I can say this from experience...I have 4 large tatoos, I got mine before they were cool, long ago. Anyways, if I could do it all over again I would pass on the tats, or at least put them in a different location.
The reason I say this is: as a professional they make me feel uncomfortable meeting with customers and alike. I always wear long sleeve shirts when I have scheduled meetings. Don't get me wrong, I think they are cool, but at least put them in a place where you can easily decide if you want to show them or not. The forehead is not recommended...lol Funny how things work out, one of my daughters (21 years old) decided to get a tattoo, it's a tuff sell to convince her to reconsider when dad has them all over the place....she got a geco(sp?), lizard, on her back, it is cool and can be easily covered. Let's not tell her I think it is cool though, ok? ------------------ fordgasm CLICK HERE to see my 87 GT |
I knew the design you were talking about as soon as I read your first post. I don't see what the big deal is! You said it was going to be small and on the small of your back. Not exacly a place you would have to worry about in a professional environment. I have 3 small tats, none of which are visible wearing casual clothes and I have no regrets. PPl all say you will regret it when you are older...why? will it really matter that much to you as you get gray hair, wrinkled, lose your eyesight/hearing, and get heavier? When I get to that point I really dont think a tattoo, not usually visible in the first place is going to have any impact.

see, mine WOULD be able to be hidden or shown off when ever I wanted. I want it on the small on my back. http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/tongue.gif

I have one on each shoulder and no lie they felt almost good. Like someone scrathing your back really hard like... (nevermind). Anyway, I say if it makes you happy go your it. Just put some pics of it after you get it hahaha.

Jodi:
I don't wish to belabor the point but I happen to like tattoos on women, when they are small and unobtrusive. I don't find some huge tat up and down a girls arms or across her back especially attractive, but a 2 1/2" tat at the small of your back is certainly not going to be a future problem, as I see it. Again, it's your bod and clearly your decision, but you asked for opinions and I offered mine, for whatever it's worth to you. No harm in asking for opinions, but I trust you'll do what you want, not what others tell you you 'should' or 'shouldn't' do. |
I have one more point to make...
When I'm OLD FAT AND WRINKLY I WONT BE SHOWIN MY BOD OFF!!! http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/tongue.gif I'm really starting to lean towards it now instead of being undecided... http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/smile.gif ------------------ Jodi AKA PonyGirl Red 68 GT Fastback and Black 99 GT Coupe "Not your average Mustangs..." http://hometown.aol.com/redlilpony/Homepage.html |

Hey Jodi,
Looks like your gonna go for it. I have two tats, so be very sure of the design you want. I have one on my ankle and another on my lower back both are representative of my island heritage. Anyway I have no regrets I'm very proud of mine. =D ------------------ Yours in SPEED======= Mandy aka GTGRL00 |
well, i've always loved that brushed pony. I don't know why I would stop liking it or a mustang..? I still have a week to decide if I am gonna get it or not. decisions decisions decisions... http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/smile.gif
------------------ Jodi AKA PonyGirl Red 68 GT Fastback and Black 99 GT Coupe "Not your average Mustangs..." http://hometown.aol.com/redlilpony/Homepage.html |
Like GTGrl00 I have a tat on my lower back- 2 years old and one on my ankle-14 years old. I still love them both and would do it again, (and maybe even another). But that is also because I was absolutely sure about what I wanted and where I wanted them. I agree there are some locations that don't work for various work or personal situations - like skulls around your neck - but if you get it on your lower back, and you are 150% sure of the design - get it!
Also, not to scare you off but the lower back is extremely painful, so be prepared to breath and take breaks. Good Luck...Robin ------------------ ...Ah, but everything sparkles when a Mustang owner brings her aura to visit. Well, my stepdaughter(practically) got one on her lower back(I protested!). She turned 18 and could do what she wanted, so the first week after turning 18 she got ocean waves on her lower back. If she did it and didn't complain too much, I don't think it can really be that bad. I think she said it itched some afterwards.
I have to admit though, I've seen some fine looking girls that had them and I have to agree with Godslayr on that one. |
<whew> ok cool

I have been in-and-out of tattoo shops wanting to get one.. As soon as I start looking at their "catalogs".... confusion steps in... What on earth can I go for!!! But, stumbling across your article has given me something to think about.
See, if you want to tattoo.. you should go for something that is important to you and/or reflects you... Based on that.. reading your comments, I can positively say.. GO FOR IT!! It ten, twenty years time it would still appeal to you, whilst driving your 2030 Mustang Hovercraft!!(Mustangs Forever) Yes?! |

Jodi..
If you want a tattoo..I say go for it!It's a reflection of what you like. My mother always liked angels so she got a angel tattoo professionally done on the center of her back. For myself,hehe...I'm too afraid of needles http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/biggrin.gif ------------------ Paxton Blown 87GT |
Why do I always have to be the serious guy in the crowd? I guess if you're counting votes I'm a 'nay'. Much as I like the subject matter I think a tattoo kind of cheapens a woman's appeal. Think it through and do what's right for you.
|
If you do it (I think you should) you gotta show us a pic!!
Make sure you go to a good tattoo artist because even though it is a simple design I have a friend who had some gothic lines done and they were supposed to be the same on both sides of his back. They don't match at all and it looks terrible. ------------------ Indiana Stangers Association Buy your parts here |
Spring Break is comin up pretty fast... I gotta decide!!! I think i'm leaning towards 'yes' though...
As for it reflecting who I am... I think it would do a pretty good job http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/tongue.gif I mean I'm known as "PonyGirl" around here!!! Anymore suggestions? ------------------ Jodi AKA PonyGirl Red 68 GT Fastback and Black 99 GT Coupe "Not your average Mustangs..." http://hometown.aol.com/redlilpony/Homepage.html |
Like I said... it's all about wood. You can't see the small of your back (unless you ar really limber, in that case, hey baby), so you know it's just for other people to see (MMm..hmmm guys). Hehe, don't deny it http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/smile.gif Don't deny the fact that you know it looks tasty, we all know hehe.
On another note, the only time I think a guy would be ligitimately looking at it for long periods of time would be when you were you know.. doing the nasty doggystyle. Not exactly TV but it's something too look at http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/smile.gif I say go for it.. my personal slogan stands: "Wood is good" ------------------ 87 GT Full exhaust, K&N, KB Subs, BBK STB, homeade dumps... 87 Taurus New York Winters Bite! |
is that all you base your life on???? do you have any other interests? i kind of think mustang tatoos are dumb because a tatoo symbolises your way of life. and if someone was to base thier whole life around a car i think its kinda silly. there are things that are more important,... your family, loved ones etc. mustangs are not that great they are just cheap and fast..... do you want to appear cheap and fast???? think about this, how many c-5 vette owners have chevy tatoos???? none, but the dirt rockers with big muddy trucks all have chevy power tatoos on them.... do you get my point? if you think about the design of the car....its really crappy, the suspension sux the engine is under powered the whole car needs to be modified before you even think of getting respect with it. the name "mustang" is just a legend that started with a cheap car that everyone could afford. it aint classy at all.

WAIT A MINUTE!!!
I thought you guys liked it? I mean I love it! And to tell you the truth, my life is based around Mustangs... I have trophies in my room, a 9 foot by 3 foot flaming pony poster up on my wall, ford boxers, mustang t-shirts, mustang ring... you name it! Yes I live for it because it's fun for me. I love car shows and going to the track with my car and playing with it!!! That's my life and I wanted to express it... I mean I love my mom but I don't want her face tattooed on me! http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/tongue.gif ------------------ Jodi AKA PonyGirl Red 68 GT Fastback and Black 99 GT Coupe "Not your average Mustangs..." http://hometown.aol.com/redlilpony/Homepage.html |
Jodi: it looks like you have already made up you mind that you are going to get it.
I say go for it, it's not like it is gonan be out in open for all to see, it is an expression of your love for mustangs. ------------------ 93-LX: 5 Speed, Flow's with H-Pipe, 3.73's Sub's and K&N. |
I say go for it. I've got a Cobra emblem tatooed on my right arm. Although, in 30 years if they don't make Stangs anymore or something nobody will know that's what it is. I've said it before...tatoos and/or body piercing should be a personal decision and as original as possible. I've got 4 tatoos currently and a few piercings but I've never seen anything that I have on another person (tatoo-wise). Just do some careful thinking and make sure that it's something you'll be able to live with in 30 years and won't be embarassed to show your kids (if you want them, that is).
On a seperate note, i think Godslayer and Mr 5.0 right. Chicks with tats have always turned me on. Just so long as they're tasteful, relatively small (which rather hypocritical since I've got 1/4 of my back done), and not in an area where they're constantly on display. You'll have to let us know how it turns out. Hey hon! Just stumbled across this post, and I'll give you m y .02 cents since you NEVER email anymore (you promised you would call...*sob*) heh heh
Ordinarily I think tattoos on women were trashy, but I was ALSO considering getting the dang grille emblem on my lower back. I heard it hurts like a son of a b*tch, not to scare you. I guess it depends on the individual. I'm usually kinda stuffy about that stuff, but I took the plunge, and have have had my eyebrow tongue, and up until a couple of months ago my bellybutton. Ok I just looked at the link, and I am SURE that you should do it. I was going to get the exact same style, but of a dressage horse when I used to horseback ride before I could drive! (heheh I, too have spent many hours wondering what i would get a tattoo of)
I think its pretty elegant, or maybe I'm just biased because we have the same taste in body art and cars haha. Well, good luck with your decision hon! Jodi and Belle,
Getting a tat on your lower back, I ain't gonna lie it does hurt. After awhile your skin gets all numb from the needle, you won't feel it anymore. When I got mine done on my lower back, it took about 3 hours and I was straddled over a chair so needless to say my new tat on my back was'nt the only thing that was sore. ;p ------------------ Yours in SPEED======= Mandy aka GTGRL00 |
I already have the running pony with bars. It's mine I say and no one can have it. Just kidding if you get it make sure you find someone that can chrome it I will post a picture tommorrow if I get the time.
