My Weekend w/ Topless In Texas

My Weekend With Christine

Well, I just got back from taking her to the airport, and decided to share my feelings on this past weekend with Christine. Some of you guys have really pushed the envelope asking for details that are really nobodies business, but I'll share with you what I can.

For starters, Christine is by far, the most beautiful woman I have ever known. She is fun, intelligent, caring and compassionate. I have never met another woman like her, and I doubt that I ever will again. We had so much fun while she was here, just doing everyday things. We had a great time with everything we did.

I picked her up in L.A. on Friday. After leaving the airport, we drove up to Ventura along the Pacific Coast Highway, passing through Santa Monica and Malibu along the way. We stopped by the Borla factory, but couldn't get past the employee-only entrance. After dropping off her bags, we went up to Ojai to see Skyman at his PC store. We then travelled the scenic route back, stopping for a while at a vista view that overlooked the Ojai Valley. As we were passing through Santa Paula and hour and a half later, we spyed several hot rods on the town's Main Street. We parked, and walked around among all the cars in this monthly car show. There were several exceptional vehicles there, including 20 or more with 6-71 or bigger blowers. This was the point during the weekend where I think I lost my heart to this woman. She was just as excited about the cars and their engines as I was, and her past experience of judging at car shows became apparent. She went over several of the cars with a fine tooth comb, and picked many of them apart. She really does know her stuff!

On Saturday, we went racing. She was awesome at the track, and really did an excellent job helping us out! She did everything she was told, and she did it outstandingly. She not only oiled the Heim joints for us, she polished them! She made trips up to the pit board everytime we needed to know our starting position, and returned with info about the other cars we were up against. She worked non-stop trying to make us a better team, and she succeeded. We were by far the most popular team there, and had more guys stopping by to wish us luck than we ever had before. She quickly became the most popular person there! Unfortunately, we had a rough night on the track. We finished second in our heat race, but had trouble in the Main event. On the second lap, the points leader cut across the infield birm between turns 1 and 2, trying to pass us for the lead, and instead became airborne, and landed with their right rear tire coming down on our left front. That wouldn't have been such a big deal, except for the fact that it ripped out the brake line when it happened. The result was we had NO BRAKES for the rest of the race! We still stayed in 2nd, closing in on the lead, when a lapped rookie spun out right in front of us with only two laps to go, and we ended up sliding into him sideways, bending the right rear rim, and blowing out the tire. The simple fact that Christine was there, and had such a great, positive attitude, kept everyone in very high spirits anyway. She will always have a spot on our team.

Sunday was going to be spent up at Knapps Castle, and The Cold Springs Tavern, in San Marcos Pass, above Santa Barbara, but we never even made it out of the house. She showed me videos of her on TV, and of her skiing 12 years ago. We looked through yearbooks, and told each other stories, and just had a really great time.

For all you busy-bodies wanting all the dirty details, well, too bad. You're not getting any from me. All I will say is that I have never been happier than I was while she was here. I honestly don't know what the future holds, but what ever it is, it won't be easy. Ventura, California, and League City, Texas, are quite a ways apart. If we could afford to fly to either place each weekend, we probably would, but that's just not possible. What I will say is this; I hope to get to spend alot more time with her in the future, and I probably will, but even if I never saw her again, I would still be a better person for the time we spent together.

If you are ever lucky enough to get to meet her, you would be a fool not to. She is truly remarkable woman.

Take care,
-Chris

Below is a picture I took of Christine on Friday. It was taken at a place we stopped at for a while in Ojai, over looking the Ojai Valley, shortly after stopping by Skyman's store. The smoke from a nearby fire is very apparent in the background.

And here's a picture of her cleaning up the car after a heat race. Christine is at the rear of the car, and crew member Dave Hulce's wife, Patti, is the one closest to the camera. I swear they were both standing up when I went to take the picture!

Joe You took the words right out of my mouth.

Indeed, very cool Chris! Congrats on the great weekend!

Most of us normal people only get to experience a weekend of this magnitude maybe once or twice in a lifetime. Thanks for sharing it with us.

Pics looks great!

this busybody wants to apologize to both of you for making any assumptions about your weekend.

347MOM 06-10-2002 09:54 PM

Well I tell you one thing that I have hung around her many times and she is truely remarkable to be around. She is a blast to be around there is always something going on around her. She always has a smile on her face!!! She makes the cars shows worth going to, because you are always laughing and having so much fun!!!!! I am glad that you two had such a GREAT time!!!!

rbatson 06-10-2002 10:17 PM

Excellent!

Sounds like a perfect weekend.

shadowblue89 06-10-2002 10:27 PM

Sounds like you 2 had a great weekend. That is very good to hear.
So. When are you going out to Texas?

Unit 5302 06-10-2002 10:51 PM

I know sometimes we don't see eye to eye, but I have to agree with your observations about Christine's character. Almost always cheery, and when she's apologizing for venting I always ask "You were venting?" Her venting is less involved than my mini rants on the MW, hehe.

She definately puts others before herself and she's a car nut to the end. I'm glad to see her hangin out with somebody who recognizes her as a wonderful person.

PKRWUD 06-10-2002 11:57 PM

Thanks guys! You are all right; she is perhaps the coolest woman alive.

Don't sweat it! :)

LOL. Well Charlie, if I could afford it, I'd fly out there tomorrow, but I'm going to have an unGodly phone bill coming any day now. We discussed my joining her for a car show in Maryland at the end of the month, but finances are the key factor there, too. Otherwise, I will probably fly into Houston some time next month, and she is looking at flying back here by the end of the summer, maybe sooner. We'll just have to wait and see, but like I said, even if I never saw her again, which I highly doubt, I'm still a better person for the time we did spend together. :)

Take care,
-Chris

uuuhhh yeah right, i hear ya, heheh, glad you two had a great weekend, i told you guy's , stop with the soap opra guessing, hahaha, im glad you both had fun, see ya later bud. el loco.:D :D

rbatson 06-11-2002 12:33 AM

Chris, maybe you should get a cell phone.. you can get free long distance and the rates aren't that bad. Or you could use that 1010220 deal, I dated a girl that lived out of town and I used that all the time.. saved me alot of money. The thing about that is if she isn't home and you get the answering machine it cost you a dollar, anything up to 20 minutes is $1. I'd always call her first, using my regular service, then if she answered I would call right back using 1010220.

As far as the travel expenses, you might want to check out www.orbitz.com . I went from Wilmington to Orlando last summer and it only cost me $137(or thereabouts), round trip. You can find deals, bro.. just look around. There is actually a guy on my route that has a web site and he swears he is cheaper than Orbitz, I'll see if I can find out the name of his site again (I don't see him that much).

PKRWUD 06-11-2002 05:33 AM

Thanks for the tips, Rick! As far as the phone goes, we have recently both signed up for a program through AT&T where we will have unlimited calls for $20 a month. As for the ticket websites, thanks! If you see that guy on your route, get his info! I'm always looking to save money!

Take care,
-Chris

Chris, Thats great man. I was just buggin ya earlier about the juicy details man. Thats your business totally and I probably wouldnt have said anything other than "yes we had a good time" if it was me. Its cool you guys had a great time. Ive talked to Christine through MSN several times and she seems like a very nice person. I've been thinking about flying out to Texs to the FFW in Ennis just to meet all the people from Texas. Christine being one of them because she is so cool. Its great you two get along so good. Cherish that dude, thats hard to find any more.

Weekend with Christine

Chris:

Thanks for the generous account of your 'Weekend with Christine' and the photos, too.

I'm so glad you two had such an interesting time together.

You know that both you and Christine are valued members of this website 'family' and it's great to see you both together, even if only for a weekend. You'll decide your own future but know that all of us are hoping it's a great one for both of you.

Stang_ROTY 06-11-2002 09:56 AM

Congrats and good luck buddy! You DESERVE IT!

srv1 06-11-2002 09:53 PM

hey Chris, glad you had a good time with Christine. definetly a fun person. i have talked to her on the phone many times. always nice, and always has at least 1 laugh in our discussions(meaning if she was having a bad day, she would laugh at something) supposed to meet her at Mod Shootout at the end of June. hopefully i make it this time!;) right Christine?:D

To tell you how nice of a person she is, she got me a book on Stevie Ray Vaughan and sent it to me! a total stranger that they dont even know took their own time to do something for someone else. Kudos in my book!

so is that what Cali looks like? WOW! Ojai is nice! those mountaing are huge! never seen a mountain in person before!

p.s. sure the were standing up at the time!;) ;)

PKRWUD 06-11-2002 10:12 PM

James-

Hehehe, those aren't mountains, they're hills! The ones in that picture are at about 4500 feet, but just behind them, the summit exceeds 7500 feet, nearly twice as tall as the hills in the pic! Actually, Ojai is one of the main reasons I LOVE it here. I live at the beach, but 15 minutes away, driving slow, is Ojai, at the base of the Los Padres National Forest. Very diverse area, Ventura County, at least geographically.

Nothing kind that Christine ever did or does will surprise me. She is a very, very giving person. She is a very special person too, to everyone, not just me. I haven't met anyone yet who had a bad thing to say about her (of course, if they said it to my face, I'd lay them out). I know she thinks the world of you, James, and you are among a small handful of her very closest friends. It doesn't surprise me in the least that she went to the trouble of sending you a book about the second greatest guitarist of all time (sorry bro, but Randy Rhoads rocked my world). I've been fortunate in that I have gotten to know her very well. It really amazes me how much crap she deals with, and always comes away smiling. She's been dealt some really crappy cards, but you'd never know that to see her cheery posts here. I don't know how she does it, but I thank God she does. She is an Awesome Woman!

Take care,
-Chris

Hey, I'm glad u had a great time. I loved all the pics u posted. Looks kinda like where I used to live. I'm still not used to all the small hills around here. I miss going up in the moutians and just walking through the trees.

How far is Ventura from Fairfield? I'm just wondering because I might wonder down there sometime to help u out. Might not be this year, but maybe next.

PKRWUD 06-14-2002 10:18 AM

Ventura is about 45 miles west/northwest of Los Angeles.

Her computer is beginning to lose it because she saw how easy it was to use Chris's MIGHTY MACINTOSH and misses it.

Actually, the problem is that she is writing a very long reply (she spent close to two hours on it the first time), and by the time she's ready to post, she's been automatically logged out of MW, and it loses the text from her reply. I've suggested that she try writing it in word, and then copy and paste it in to MW when she's finished. She spent close to 4 hours working on it last night, just to lose them twice! What a pain!

On a more positive note, she brought with her a suitcase full of "Texas stuff" for me, including a couple license plates to be hung in my garage. I finally got the license plates up, and felt like sharing (see pic below).

Take care,
-Chris

The Deuce 06-14-2002 03:33 PM

Nice flag!

I think the Southern Cross really sets off the place Chris. When I get my garage sorted out I'll post a pic. Currently working on getting plates, BOSS stuff, and drywall.

How'd you score that Brazil plate?

PKRWUD 06-14-2002 03:44 PM

1 Attachment(s)
Thanks! I got the plate 15 years ago when a friend was in Brazil. That corner is just a small part of my garage. It actually took some work to make room for those two license plates! Well, in return, she's getting one of my PKRWUDS personalized California plates, so that opened up one spot, but it still took a little doing. I like a garage with personality! One of the first things Christine wanted to do was go see the garage (gotta love that)! Here's a couple pics to give you an idea, but keep in mind, IMHO, it's a MESS in them.

Take care,
-Chris

Still a mess.

Skyman 06-14-2002 05:03 PM

Ahh, yes, write it in word to be safe :)

MW does allow you to hit the back button and bring back up what you wrote, she could have cut and paste it from there... well too late now. :(

Rev 06-14-2002 06:08 PM

Topless, take my advice about guns. Be sure and use enough calibre for the intended purpose.

I'd recommend at least a .40 SW for the ordinary PC. For anything more than ordinary, you'll need maybe a .45 ACP. If it's a really tough PC with maybe some kind of armor, then you'll want to use a .44 Mag. Then there's always the .454 Casull Magnum for those impossible cases.

Please go out to the range and practice some though before attacking the computer. Consult PKRWUD or Skyman for the most vital spots.

Glad you had a good time in CA. Just get yourself together an finish off that malfunctioning PC for good and then start over with a new one.

Sky-
I'm not sure if she tried that or not, but I do know that sometimes that doesn't work, either. I have had that happen to me before, and when using the back button, all the text is gone. That's why I write all my long posts in NotePad first, then I copy and paste. Still, can you imaging spending 4 hours trying to post something, and losing it twice. Damn. I wouldn't go near a computer for a week.

Take care,
-Chris

LAST DAMN DITCH EFFORT. LOST IT AGAIN!

MY TRIP TO CALIFORNIA…..
OKAY…Im gonna try this one more time! I”ve been sooo aggravated w/ this whole posting getting lost, that I lost all interest in even attempting it again! BTW: like I said ya’ll, thanks for the kind words…you guys ROCK!

THANK YOU CHRIS for yur cool post! It was very well written! It was a good account of the weekend, you done great! I really appreciate all the nice things you said about me. You are a true gentleman, and a lot of fun to be around. And that was the best way to see California…I have a whole new perspective of it now, and I have you to thank! :)

The trip to Ventura from LA was cool. Very nice drive. It was really hazy at first, but eventually it burned off. I thought it was cool to drive by places that have been on TV. Like where the did the filming to the opening to Three’s Company, the beach where they showed the skaters and the big building. That was really cool to see! The water is AWESOME!!! Its actually BLUE and not BROWN like here in Galveston!

We drove by Zuma Beach and thru Santa Monica, and Malibu. The views are so fine!!!! Or should I say, “GNARLY!” It was so cool to see Mountains around the water. Not something you see here in the flat lands. The only thing you see here around our beaches is tar, jellyfish and seaweed…We were really bummed out that we couldn’t get into the Borla Plant…but it was not open to the public…

The trip out to Ojai was equally as cool…What a view from that stopping place they had there! You could see the helicopters w/ the big water buckets for the fires that were going on. It was really AWESOME!!! And it had cleared up a lot!

And… SKYLER…I have still not got around to contacting my lawyer! LOL!!! My ankle is STILL swollen where I sprained it when I fell into Skyman’s PC shop! I tripped in the door on my 3 inch heeled sandles. It hurt like hell. So much for my wonderful grand entrance, I made a total As$ of myself, but It was good for a laugh!! And the fact that we ran across that Car Show was tooo damn cool! There was a McLearan there that left as we were walking by it….it was frigin’ cool!!!!!!! And a few Stangs as well…I even taught him something about the A/C Cobra that he didn’t know. .(or he SAID he didn’t!)

We got to his place in Ventura…..VERY COOL! I couldn’t have decorated it any better myself! It was race car heaven! I can’t decide which room I liked best between the Mac Room and the Garage! They were both VERY COOL! Chris has parts of Bill Elliot’s Smashed race car that he worked on hanging all over his walls in his MAC Room( I keep wanting to say PC room!) Which is actually his basement. And talk about feeling weird! His mouse is not a mouse! It’s a thingy w/ a little ball you roll around! I kept trying to use it like a mouse and I felt like a total IDIOT! It was fun posting from there, although I know It was prolly confusing to everyone…

I got the Grand Tour of the Garage…..Ive NEVER seen so much Garage Art in my life! I thought I had a lot! And everything was Soooo organized! I have also NEVER seen so many carbourators in one place before either! I met all the cats including Rudy, who is the sick one. She seemed okay, and was very friendly to me. They were so funny…I’ve never seen one in heat before. What an interesting expierience! Ive never seen a cat meow so much!!!!!!

The races on Saturday were cool. I had a GREAT time working in the pits! I just wish I could’ve done more! I was impressed w/ the work that they did on the car. Chris is definitely one of the most knowledgeable people I have ever met when it comes to cars…and His friend Dave and his wife Patti and Jim Porter were GREAT!!! They were all VERY NICE, and a lot of fun to be around! I knew the way Jim ran, if he hadn’t been taken out by those other cars, he’d have won that race! He was running great! It was a disappointment that that happened, but it was still a lot of fun and a great expierience!

Sunday we just kinda hung out around the house and did some posting. It was fun looking at the year books…funny, seems like everyone said the same old stuff in yearbooks back then! I bored him to death w/ an old Ski Video of one of my many SnowSkiing trips…I think the funniest thing about that is I discovered that I don’t think he much cared for my ski attire for the week! LOL…Im into bright stuff, so when I’m face down in the snow, I’m easy to find!

The weather was great, and It cleared up really nice. The ride to the airport was nice. It had cleared enough to see more of the mountains. There was a few things that we didn’t get to do, but it went by pretty fast. I’ve got some pics I took as well from the races and some scenic stuff… I’ll post them too.

I had a really great time with Chris. He’s a super guy and one of the sweetest guys I’ve ever met! ( I know you guys hate hearing that kind of thing about yourselves) but Its true!! He was very gentlemanly and made me feel very welcome and took great care of me while I was there… He was genuinely interested in taking me around and showing me different things, and I thought that was really neat! He’s also very smart, and could tell me about a lot of the history stuff behind the things we saw. I was very impressed about all the different things he told me about and showed me. It was really neat to be around someone as equally into cars as myself, ( actually, more so as far as knowledge goes!) And, he has great hair! I hope he is enjoying his haircut! ;)

And BTW Chris: the Texass Plates look GREAT in your garage!!!!!! Thanks again for everything… You’re the BEST!!!!!!!! TNT

Actually it's a cordless trackball, and it was very cute watching her try to move the pointer by moving it around!

Christine-
Thank you for your kind words, and for your discretion as well ;) . For the record, you looked great in your ski outfits! I just had to really squint when the sun hit the hot pink and neon lime green colors, that's all :) . And yes, thank you very much for triming my hair while you were here. There are VERY few people that I have met that I trust with it, and now you are at the very top of my list. You'll have to fly back out around August to give me a trim ;) . We did miss out on a few of our plans, but we can always do them next time. I'm really glad you had such a nice time. You were nothing less than a total pleasure. As you know, it was the best weekend of my 36 years, so far.

Everyone else-
Here are two more pics of Christine that I took last weekend. The first was taken in the hills above Ojai, and the second was of her wearing her new Ventura Raceway shirt.

Take care,
-Chris
