My wife called out a ricer (and it was her cousin)

Well we were out with her whole family sunday (parents, grand parents, aunts, uncles, cousins) and went out to lunch. All of her younger cousins are into the ricer fad but they are all still cool. When lunch was over we were all talking in the parking lot and looking at here younger cousins new Civic. They were talking and the older cousin said that he should get some ground effects, rims, seats, and a wing. I was just standing there holding my tounge at this point when my wife says "(sarcasim) whats all that going to do put you in the 10's?" I have never been so proud.

jj_jonathon 10-21-2002 09:28 AM

depending on how young they are, they really dont need a car that fast anyways...still cool that you wife said that :D:p

LOL, that's pretty good :D I love talking to the local import guys... always good for a laugh, you just can't take them too seriously ;)

93calcobra 10-21-2002 10:37 AM

civics are fast LOL should be a law against fixing those things up,my opinoin looks like the ricer scene is somewhat fading here

that always strikes me funny, cause when i talk to our local import guys...........i hear people talking about adjusting sway bars and shock settings to achieve desired handling characteristics, and air pressures they run at the strip and the autocross, and helping someone solve their boost spike, and launching techniques, and whether to run a 3 inch or 2 and a half inch exhaust, and blow-off valves that release into the atmosphere versuses BOV's that release into the intake........

the real import guys most likely aren't the guys chillin' at the sonic or the gas station or the car wash.........the real import guys are in their garage, or online tryin' to solve their boost leak issues, or in an office somewhere tryin' to earn a living

Eric4Nitrous 10-21-2002 11:11 AM

Ricer boys in an office?? what office? The Local Burger King's managers office begging him for a raise??

this is not cbring 10-21-2002 11:59 AM

i can't comprehend your logic, mr. 4nitrous.......if you drive an import, you work in fast food?

what i'm saying is that if there is such a thing as an "import guy", he isn't the punk kid buzzing around the streets and parking lots.......the "import enthusiasts" that i know and have met only gather together for autocrosses, at the dragstrip, or at an SCCA club meeting, or brand/model specific club meeting (be it honda, or volkswagen, or subaru, miata, vr4, etc.).........from my experiences 85% of the "enthusiasts" are over 25, prolly 75% have professional jobs, and 75% have no visual mods other than rims (which are typically lighter, wider, and house more performance-oriented rubber).......also, most of them do the mods themselves

i know a few "import enthusiasts" and respect their knowledge of the imports and how to make power or corner carvers out of them.

ricers on the other hand come in domestic and import version. which is what this thread was started about. people that are more concerned with their "vision of speed on wheels" rather than actually making it go fast.

the 1st group i can get along with the latter i just mind my own business unless they ask my opinion in which case they will get it! :D

The Deuce 10-21-2002 12:25 PM

Cbring

I don't understand you most of the time. ultraflo has talked about the import guys that live near him before a number of times. They don't sound like the typical 'ricer' until he tries to get them down to the track and they spend all night bench racing at some restaurant.

Ease up on the 'everyone is out to get me' mentality you have or move along. Not every comment made about a VW or import car is a direct threat to your manhood.

this is not cbring 10-21-2002 12:29 PM

there is no such thing as an "import guy"

Eric4Nitrous 10-21-2002 12:41 PM

i agree with Duece. Everytime somebody says something about imports you run your mouth. Your crap is getting old man.

They are tweaking away in their garage until 4 in the morning. Changing this, swaping that, adding this, losing that. Slingin' wrenches both high and low.

...................All of this in the hope that someday they will break out of the 17's....................:D :D :D :D :D

Its just a joke!

I was talking about my local import guys.... that of which is what I, as well as many others, have termed said group of individuals. Hence, there is such a "thing" as an "import guy" just as I am, among MANY others here, a "Mustang guy" ;)

Chill out.... :p

BTW... who the hell, in their right mind, would want to be in an office on a Monday morning!!! :D

WADS56 10-21-2002 01:03 PM

cbring, What do you expect:confused: this is a mustang board!!! If you looking, and expect respect for the "ricers" here you are in for a long battle. About 90% of the import guys are all ricers. The other 10% are ones that you describe. So that means that the chances are that you are going to run into some kid with a riced out car that thinks it is the bomb (is that the cool word now?). At least for me that is the reason I can't stand the import guys.
Also most of us here build our cars to go fast, and have fun from stoplight to stoplight. The import people seem to think they can compete with us and are puting a target on there own back. It's all fun and compition:) if you don't like it go to a rice board for your enjoyment.

So by that logic the following also do not exist:

"Ford men"
"Mopar guy"
"Porscheophile"
"GM guy"

Aside from a small group of nut jobs at Freshalloy, all the guys who run imports I know are into at least 3 brands of imported cars. Would that not make them an "import guy"?

I've got one for everyone.

There is not such thing as, "An intelligent response from 'this is not cbring'"

He didn't run his mouth. He got extremely defensive, which is expected since he's on a Mustang board anyways, but he didn't talk crap or run his mouth.

What cbring said is true, there are real import enthusiasts out there that actually know what they're talking about. But he misunderstood the subject of a reply, which is ricers, not import enthusiasts. BIG DIFFERENCE! But no big deal, we just have to make clear to him that we realize there are true import enthusiasts out there, but there are also a ton of ricers.

Anyways, Eric, cbring didn't run his mouth, he didn't even say anything to you or remotely directed to you. He didn't even say anything that deserved any sarcastic reply the least bit from ANYONE.

Once again, your immature and irrational remarks amaze me. And a moderator? Sad......:(

Eric4Nitrous 10-21-2002 08:10 PM

He was too busy running his mouth to realize that Ryan :)

Crazy Horse GT 10-21-2002 11:01 PM

i will say it one more time, there is import & domestic ricer's, there is import & domestic car enthusiast's, that's the difference. drive thru please. ;) :D :D :D

Wow.....that is quite a newsflash. Whereabouts did this come from? And, I have kept up on the boards for the most part lately and never read anything about him not being a moderator any more.

Either way, my statement still stands (except the part about it being sad that Eric is a moderator). Running my mouth? Not hardly.

Eric4Nitrous 10-22-2002 09:54 AM

You know ben you used to be pretty cool. Then all of a sudden your telling me off and saying how much you don't like me..well i don't really care if you like me. Just keep your comments to yourself.

Ok let me get this straight......Ben should keep his comments about his distaste for you to himself, but it is perfectly fine for you to bash Cbring every chance you get......riiiiiiiiight:rolleyes:

Eric4Nitrous 10-22-2002 01:23 PM

and it's perfectly ok for you to run your mouth and take up for cbring and ben even when their bashing somebody else?? righhhttt

Nah, I was just pointing out the fact that you were being a hypocrite :)

Eric4Nitrous 10-22-2002 01:39 PM

i'm a hypocrite?? Why would that be? Maybe because i brag about my car too much? or because i'm just not respected around here anymore? I guess if i had a 14 second car i'd be more respected around here.

hummmmm.......perhaps you should look up the word hypocrite.

Your a hypocite because you sell Ben to keep his mouth shut when he bashes you, but you bash Cbring at will.

Respect is earned, not bought with the fastest car. I'm guessing your additude as a lot to do with your lack of respect and I'm willing to bet the loss of your postion as Moderator.

Have a nice day:)

this is not cbring 10-22-2002 01:52 PM

who did i bash?

Eric4Nitrous 10-22-2002 02:06 PM

I don't care if people around here respect me anymore..you people are the least of my worries. So making you happy by kissing your *** isn't gonna do it for me. And Tireburner if you know soo much..how come you don't have a fast car? You got alot to be talking about..you spend more money on stereo **** than you do performance. But yet you know everything and anything. Have a nice day.

Simple.....lack of finances. It's hard to build a heavy hitting street terror when you only make 100 bucks a week. If it makes you feel better I am currently looking for a 351W short block.

Yes I have a fair amount of money in my system(around 800 bucks), but I feel I get my money's worth out of it. When I'm sitting in traffic a sterio system is nice for someone who enjoys music as much as I do. A few people, like MidNiteBlu 5.0 know how long I saved up for the money I have in my system. I never intended to spent as much as I did, but it adds up quick.

I never claimed to know everything and anything, but I do know more about 5.0 performance than many people who own 5.0's do.

I never asked you to kiss somones ***, just to stop being a ***.

WADS56 10-22-2002 03:11 PM

Eric4nitrous, whats up with the dumb a$s posts that you made? Just because you have a fast car you know it all???? I have yet to see any tech information from you that a pro 5.0 builder would have. Oh I forgot... you bought your car from someone that knows what he is doing, so the wisdom must of been past down to you through the check:rolleyes: Just because someone has a slow car dosn't mean they don't know squat. A few people on this board don't even own a mustang, or even a ford and they have more info and experience then you could dream of.

Don't reply to this with a flame. Why don't you prove your greatness and go to the tech board and solve all our slow cars problems:o

None of this crap would have happened if Mr 5 0 was still here.

6T9PONY 10-22-2002 08:37 PM

Mr 5 0 was the ****.....I loved that guy. I really wish he was still here. We should all write a big email or something and send it to him, asking for him to come back.

Eric, I almost feel bad for saying this, beings how I'm 18 and you're nearly double my age, but you have definitely proved your lack of intelligence to me.

If you would like me to keep my own comments to myself, then you should do the same--to me, and other people. I usually stay pretty uninvolved in threads like this, but when I see you make comments like that, someone needs to give you a wake up call and tell you that your **** DOES stink too.

Tireburner hit the nail on the head. You don't earn respect by having a fast car. I respect your car, but not you for that. I have never heard you brag about your car, you just come off as thinking you deserve respect because of that car. And you just proved that. That's BS.

No one ever asked you to kiss anyone's ***. No one here kisses mine, but yet I like almost everyone here.

And you make it sound like just because someone knows a lot about cars they should automatically have one that's fast as hell. WTF? You may have a decent amount of knowledge (I do not know if you really do, you've never proved it to me.), but the only reason you have a car like you do is because you are able to write a big fat check.

PKRWUD is a wonderful example. PKRWUD has tons of knowledge and resources, but I don't think his F150 runs 6's, do you? I also imagine that PKRWUD is financially able to have a sweet ride that's fast as hell, but he's just not really interested right now. He doesn't even have a frickin Mustang!

So why don't YOU have a nice day...

6T9PONY 10-22-2002 08:40 PM

Oh, can anyone fill me in on why Eric isn't a moderator anymore?
