![]() Another quick question. When I'm cruising steady, and I tip in on the throttle suddenly and sharply....there's a horrible dull thud and a kick/buck from the underside of the car...sounds TERRIBLE. Other cars I've been in haven't done this. Is it normal for driveshaft play to be this harsh? What else could it be? Transmission mounts are brand new, and the driveshaft was bolted up improperly..it's been fixed as well. Previous owner hacked, and I mean HACKED, the car together. $2500 later it's running top.

![]() Bet you it is excessive play in the rear differential. To much backlash. Even if the rear end is quiet otherwise it can still be to much backlash. The fix? Rebuild the rearend with new gears, bearings ect.

![]() sn95: It's a POS AOD transmission that needs a rebuild. I can feel my Overdrive band trying to slip out when it engages every time. 3rd is getting rough too. Extra detail too, the transmission itself whines when downshifting from Overdrive to 3rd...downshifts pretty damn hard too. First I thought it was my rear end so I popped the car into neutral real quick and the noise stopped.
![]() The rear end has some wear/damage in it because the differential cover was leaking when I got it and when I had it serviced for the first time, they never put a new cover on (@ssholes), so it leaked the fluid out again. It has a new cover and fluid filled to the top with friction modifier added now, but it's whining a little bit.
