Default the neatest custom car

i thought this would be a good idea for a thread..........what is the neatest or coolest custom contraption on four wheels thats managed to roll by your neighborhood(has to be local .......cars in mags or on tv are too easy.)..........i've seen peaple come up with some neat cars ......i like induviduallity ,sleepers and cars that stand out..........my top five would be ..............

#1.......there's a guy who races at our local track with an old english ford ,it has a big block drag racing drivetrain.......drive train takes up so much room in the car the guy sits in the back seat .....he calls the car "back seat driver" and runs 6s in the eighth

#2.....met a guy with a 70s vw bug that was rear wheel drive,with a 350 chevy,turbo 400 and a 9" rear powering it

#3 i knew a guy in tucson with a old triamph spitfire powered by a ford 2.8 v6

#4 knew a guy with a 69 hearse ,all origanal (even the old paint and coffen platform) except for neons under it and in the back .....looked the a haunted hearse ,somthing the grim reaper would ride in on

#5 there's a guy who owns a stock looking malibue station wagon in this area .....don't know whats in it but it does mid 7s in the eighth.......i lov a sleeper

a can think of lots more but don't waqnt to get carried away......

a 80's dodge d-50 with a 351 twin turbo running on propane with methanol injection

an old 60's fastback mustang that looks completly stock, but can run in the 11's, and plus, the driver looks like santa clause

I too, hope to have my car(s) at the top of this list.

60's Chevy pickup. 350, runs strong. Bright yellow with ghost flames, lowered.....has CHEVROLET on the tailgate in the ghost paint....flamed exhaust.....

'66 Vette convertible. stock 350. neat bluish teal color with black stripes and black soft top.

'70 Chevelle SS LS6. 454 with 550 hp...DragStars....big n littles....red with white stripes....the "classic" Chevelle....

Not too many "custom" cars....but a lot of really nice cars...I like these kind better anyways.....

Well, I'm pretty biased. I'd say my '77 Buick LeSabre. It had a nitrous injected 403 that hit 521hp on the dyno, yet looked like a family cruiser from the outside (except for the wheels and the license plate).

Take care,
-Chris

This was the aluminum dash I made for it. Keep in mind that this was not a show car, it was my daily driver, and it was almost 10 years ago.

Take care,
-Chris

luv the la sabre ......sleepers are fun as h*ll.......

Pa is a good state to see all kinds of different cars ,peaple are into cars alot here...........the little eighth mile local track has alot of neat cars that race regularily and you never know what will come out.........there's a couple of 6 sec mustangs and a bunch of 7 sec stangs........a bunch of old muscle cars and classics .......a willy's coupe that can run 6s........a couple of old 440 dodges and a couple of 68-69 camaro's.......a couple of 30s-40s coupes......to many to narrow down my favorit'es.....

i tend to like the different and odd cars though.........i've seen alot of odd cars that were just plain neat ........rabbits or civics that run low 7s,......there's a chevette drag car that runs 6s........there's a couple of guy's that run old beat up looking mazda's (look like the old carola's) one of them can run 7s when he doesn't break it......he feeds the old rotery with a holly double pumper and it winds up to like ten grand........

.......the car show's and cruising strips are just as neat to see what comes around.........last weekend at the cruising spot i seen a cadilac el darado ( one of the old ,huge boat ones)lowered and customized ....was pretty cool looking.........i can go on and on ........i like hearing about what peaple can come up with .......there's all sorts of cars out there.........

My buddy had a Spitfire with a 327 in it. That thing was crazy. It looked like a POS, but ran hard. It seemed to break-down at least once a month.

that would be a neat car .....i like the old spitfire's, them things only weigh like 1500-2000 lbs with a with a 500 lb moter in em ..........one of the origanal sport compacts.......plus it's not real hard to retrofit a modern rear wheel drive moter in em

My best friend drives a 71 Camaro with a 400 pontiac in it he even used the shaker hood scoop. The car used to be a drag car so it has a full roll cage in it and he also added a 9in rear end. There is also a guy that shows up at cruise nights in a triumph TR-7 with a 302.

Last summer at the Good Guys show in Del Mar i saw an 60's VW bug with a 392 Hemi in the front with a ford 9". It was painted like Herbie and had a plague that said "Herbie on Viagra" I would recommend going to any Good Guys show there are soooo many hot rods and customs that are simply bada**.

best one I can think of is a 83 Mustang. It looked stock, but ran 11's. He'd spray the whole engine down with WD-40 and drive it down the road. At the track he'd pop the hood. REALLY dirty and grimmy looking. He'd add just a touch of oil to the gas to make it smoke a little. He'd run a string of high 16's/low 17's, then start racing people for money

Oh and my uncle/neighbor is almost done restoring a 70 Fastback. It's gonna be candy apple red with reflective pearl BOSS 302 style stripes. But instead of saying "BOSS 302" on the fender, the stripes are gonna say "SLY'S 302"(his nick name)

he he hee, free post

Thats an awesome Lesabre Chris! That thing is cool! I'm searching through my old Car Craft magazines to find a local guys' 32 coupe with a blown hemi. It's an awesome car, but then again I dont think I have seen a one-hundred and fifty thousand dollar car that wasnt!

Andy669-
Thanks man, that car was alot of work, but it was even more fun! I wish I had some pics that did it justice. It really was nice in person. Always drew a crowd when I checked the oil at a gas station.

Take care,
-Chris
