Need help naming new puppy!

Well if all goes right I will be getting a new puppy within the next couple of weeks. She is currently only 5 weeks old and the cutest little thing. She is a pure-bread chocolate, box-nosed lab. She is an April Fool's Day pup to boot. I don't really know how to describe her personality cause its still forming but here it goes: she loves to cuddle and sleep (as do most puppies) and she will follow me wherever I go and loves to watch me play. Thats about all she's done so far, but I have only seen her 3 times in the past 2 weeks.

I was thinking of the line of Mustang names, like Paxton (boy's name) or Shelby, but Shelby is too common, and this dog is not common to say the least. But any input is appreciated.

Here are some pics:

Oh yeah she loves to ride in Mustangs, especially my Convertable. She has not had a chance to ride in my Cobra yet. :D

My 8 year old daughter says "CHOCOLATE, of course!!!"... :)

How about Vert?

Don't ask me, my cats names are:
Randy Rhoads
Rudy Sarzo
Oscar
Barney
Teaka (my ex named her)
Gar (was going to be named Turbo, but that name conflicted with my ex's turtle)
Spaz

I think Vert works, but what do I know.

Take care,
-Chris

Sis,,,Sissy

Rudie...

Zap...

Brownie..

I named my female Jack Russell "Rudie" because of her Rooting under the covers and being Rude to everyone.

Maybe just wait and see,,, The one that comes to ya is usually the best .

drudis 05-08-2002 07:29 AM

Or call himn Liberaci on account of he is the pianist
(think about it for a minute)... :)

lysacat 05-08-2002 08:02 AM

Your pup looks just like mine did at 5 weeks. So cute!!!
Mine's name is Cheyenne.
I know of another choc. lab named "Fudgy"
"Mocha" might work too

Ps: watch out it will chew everything in sight:D

Crazy Horse GT 05-08-2002 08:19 AM

how about c j for cobra jet, it's stang related, i had a dog named j d -jack daniels:rolleyes: cya

Coupe Devil 05-08-2002 08:19 AM

He likes ridin in the stang so you gotta name him a car related name. Something like "Crankshaft" or "Chain Drive" If you name him somethign like that you'll have to use that Hillbilly trucker grinding deep voice when yo ucall him or it just wont have the same effect..:D :D :D

fiveohpatrol 05-08-2002 10:55 AM

well i asked my girlfriend to suggest names and all she could come up with after seeing the pictures was "give her to me" :D

i second CJ, thats a good idea, and most people wouldn't even have a clue what it meant

fiveohpatrol 05-08-2002 11:01 AM

What about Saleen? It sounds like a girls name. As long as you don't say "Saline" (I hate it when people pronounce it like that)

347MOM 05-08-2002 12:20 PM

Crewzin and I have a Rott mix and his name is C.J. for Cobra Jet!!
I think that Saleen who be a GREAT name for the puppy.

joe4speed 05-08-2002 01:07 PM

That is the cutest puppy I've ever seen! I want one now!
I like CJ too

95mustanggt 05-08-2002 03:22 PM

CJ is pretty good,

What about:

Sally (as in Mustang Sally)

Bullitt

Mare (female Horse)

That's all I can think of right now. I've just spent the last 7 hours stareing at a Spread sheet, so my creative powers are all but dull :(

89 Cobra LX 05-08-2002 03:52 PM

Sorry, I don't have any unique names, but I want to let you know that labs are great dogs. I just got my first lab about 8 months ago and I think he's the best dog I've ever had (I've had dalmation, rott, and some different hunting dogs). They are very intelligent dogs, but will get into trouble if neglected.... like most dogs.

My dog's name is Sonnie (after Sonnie from the Godfather 1). I tried to name him Shelby, but the fiance wouldn't have it. My buddy's getting a black lab this weekend and he's going to name him Vinnie. We'll have a couple of gangsta dogs running the neighborhood!

Rebel79 05-08-2002 08:21 PM

Thanks for your help guys. So far here is my list of possible names:

Sally
Carrol
Shelby
LC (Lucky Charm) pronounced el-sea
Csoki (choke-e) Hungarian for Chocolate
Tammi
Alex
Elenor
Saleena
Holley
Cammy
Nitto

JRowlette 05-08-2002 08:28 PM

Congrats on the puppy. Labs are awesome dogs. My parents have had two black labs and they were both extremely intelligent. They seem to have the most "personality" out of any other dogs I've seen. They are a handful for the first year and a half or so, but after that they are awesome.
One friend of mine has a Yorkie named Paxton and another has a Doberman named Saleen. Pretty cool names.

I like 95mustanggt's idea of Sally. That would be cool.

Here's a couple of ideas:
"Holley"
"Doc" (Dual Overhead Cam)
"Cam" (possibly short for Camille"

That is a beautiful puppy. My brother has 2 and they are wonderful breeds.I have a 220 lb. dane and I went through many names until I settled with zeus as I thought it sounded large(like him)I will try to post a pic. but I am not very good with this camera as this is a picture of a picture.I am not very tall but zeus is 6 foot 3 on his back legs and you can see the size difference in the pic.Sometimes you have to wait a month or two until the puppy strikes you with a certain personality trait before you can name it.My friend has a lab. and after several months of watching we noticed the dog always retrieved empty beer cans so he named it anheiser as in anheiser bush beer.I like the previous idea of saleen or maybe even roush.I had a female rottweiller named boost and it fit her well.Any way check the pic. and good luck

JRowlette 05-09-2002 12:32 AM

Hey Robocop,

Do you raise your own horses for dog food???
Damn that is a huge ****ing dog!!!

Robocop 05-09-2002 02:39 AM

I feed him reduced calorie pro plan food.My vet said I should cut back on his calories because he is so large he may develope hip problems.I dont raise horses to feed him but I spend a lot of money on food cause he can easily eat a 40 lb bag per week.If I can find the pic. I will post it later of zeus standing next to my rott. who weighs in at 140 lbs.My rott. can walk under my dane and you can really get a scale of his size by the pic.

Crazy Horse GT 05-09-2002 07:54 AM

rbatson 05-09-2002 09:11 PM

Rebel, you have a vert?!?! I didn't know that!! Got any pics?

As far as dog names.. I've always liked Shelby(dog or not). CJ sounds real cool too but I think mustang95gt hit the nail with Sally.. Those labs are real smart and real hard headed. They love to roam, I hope you have the mean to contain her.

Those Danes really make a presence. I had a big silver one on my last route that I called Silver(don't remember what the owners called it), this route a customer has a big black one called Harley. Those dogs are a kick, I'd hate to have to feed that sucker. Silver was ok unless the owner was around, then I'd have to watch myself. I treated him like any other dog but I don't know what I'd had done if it would have attacked me for real. That would have been a fight. I had the owner stay in the house went I came acalling else me and silver would have to fight(2-3 times a week I delivered there). Bad think about Danes, this owner told me they live a very short life, like 7 yrs.:( Not enough time to hang out with a friend imho..

tireburner163 05-09-2002 09:59 PM

name him stay:D :D :D

rbatson is correct about the life span of large breeds.zeus is 7 years now but his father lived for 12 years so I hope to have many more years.Labs are a sturdy breed and live long lives so long as they are taken care of.I would like to have another dane but the cost of maintaining a 220 lb. dog is great and I do not think I could do it.I have three dogs now and the funny thing is that my dashound, molly, is only about 8 lbs. and is much meaner than my dane or rott.I have tried to resize this pic. so it will fit in the screen but I do not know if I did it correctly.

I am doing something wrong. Can anyone tell me how to do this.I am cropping the pic. and altering the size but the thing is still full screen. One more try.

PKRWUD 05-10-2002 03:38 AM

Nice horse. Where's his saddle?

Please tell me you're a midget.

Take care,
-Chris

Robocop 05-10-2002 04:19 AM

pkrwud I am 5 foot 9 and go about 185 lbs.My dog is much taller than me and a lot heavier.I have a large yard now but there was a time when I would sneak my dog into my apartment and drive him to my brothers home everyday before work. The funny part was that at the time my only ride was my stang and you should have seen him try to fit in the back seat.He could barely fit his head through the window and the look on peoples faces was great.I have a house now with a 6 foot fence and he can stand up and look over the top.You also mentioned a saddle, well, we got snowed in a few years back and I had all the school kids in my area playing in the yard with zeus and they were taking turns riding him.I used to sit on his back and he was taller than my bike (cbr 600) but he is older now and showing his age so I cant do that anymore.A lot of people see that pic. and say the exact same thing but he is just freaky big.

PKRWUD 05-10-2002 04:37 AM

Two things are crystal clear:

That dog has some Clydesdale blood in him, and you love him very much.

:)

Take care,
-Chris

TNT
Those pups really look vicious!! (ha ha ha). They're too cute!:)

Robocop 05-11-2002 12:25 AM

topless in texas that looks like a pair of trained attack dogs to me I bet they are a lot of fun.I always liked bigger dogs but recently got a little dashound (weenie dog) that is slowly becoming my favorite.I just have to be careful as zeus tries to play to rough and she is not even as big as his paw.My vet said that zeus is just unusually large for a great dane.I remember when I bought him he was 26 lbs. at only six weeks old and he just never stopped growing. And yes he does sleep in the bed or on the couch and really anywhere he wants as he is a lot bigger than me.

Topless In Texas 05-11-2002 10:13 AM

that is too funny!

Weenie dogs are cool . They tend to be a little High Strung like my Poms are. I cant get over how big Zeus is....I hope you have a king size bed!!!! I'm getting a visual of him going for a ride in the car. I bet he would fit a little different than my 2 do in the vertte! They can both share the passenger seat! lol...his head would probably stick up over the windshield! hahah :D

Vortec or Trouble cause let me let tell you that teething stage is gonna cost you some money :laughing Went through it with my puppy and the best thing I found was called Bitter Apple that you can find in most pet stores. You can spray it on anything including yourself and it saved out couch and 4th set of pillows........
My attack mutt. He is about ooo 95lbs now as a 3 yr old.

fiveohpatrol 06-27-2002 12:51 AM

Well, what did you end up naming it? Or are you still deciding:D

LX5liter 06-28-2002 07:14 PM

I like the names "Askim" or "Asker".

Bystander: " How cute...whats your dogs name?? "

You: "Askem "

Bystander (in cutsie baby voice ): " Whats your name puppy doggy?? "

You: " Ha,ha,ha, :D "
