Default The need for speed.......

I was talking to my sister in laws dad last night about his old GTO. The car is long gone, but I finnally got some real info out of him.

Me, "I heard you had a GTO that was pretty quick."

Him, "Yeah, it was the fastest car in Orange County for almost two years."

Me, "Really, what'd it run."

Him, "10.21 @ 134"

Needless to say, I picked his brain about that car all night, and I'm talking to him about building a car. It was a '65 4spd, 389 tri-power swapped for dual 4bbls, and a roller cam. We can't afford a GTO at 8k for a decent roller, so I'm going to work on getting him excited about an early 60's Fairlane or mid size Merc.

I can tell he wants to do it too, some of his friends have replica cobras, an 03 Cobra and an 02 zo6. Just thought I'd share.

Someone may be coming to buy my Pony tommorow if he buys it I am thinking of buying a GTO Judge. I love them, either way I'm buying another classic car to start to restore, maybe another Mustang. Really don't know at this point. =)

Those are the same thing. It's my brother's wife's father. No real relation to me, although he does have another daughter who digs my Mustang.

So, did I ever tell you about the '63 427 Ford with the dual 4150 Holley 4 barrels, or the '62 390 Ford with a six pack (three 2300 2 barrel Holleys)? Oh, they were fun! Of course, nothing compares to the BOSS 429 twin Autolite in-line four barrel set-up! That was so much cooler than the Holley 3310 780cfm four barrel that usually came on the 429 Super Cobra Jet.

Take care,
~Chris

The 1969 GTO Judge is probably my favorite muscle car, but they don't just grow on trees! Finding one won't be as easy as you make it sound.

Take care,
~Chris

Good greif woman.

I'm thinking I may need a 390, or just a gnarly 351C depending on what I build. Def, 4:11 with a 9" locker. The only problem now is fabbing a roll cage into the car, without it being soo obvious. I want it to be streetable too, cuz he had the GTO while he was in the Army.

The 1970 BOSS 429 was a true hemi engine. It had a solid cam with a .509" lift, and 300 degrees duration. The heads had huge 2.280" intake valves and 1.90" exhaust valves. The rocker arms were different ratios, though, with the intake rockers being 1.65:1, and the exhaust's being 1.76:1. It came with an aluminum dual plane intake, and a 735cfm Holley four barrel. The block had 4 bolt main caps, except for the number 5 cap, which was 2 bolts. The pistons gave it a compression ratio of 10.5:1.

Take care,
~Chris

I always figured if I could afford a BOSS motor, I midas well just build a Cammer instead.

When I finnish my Cobra I'll only be able to afford a straight six. crap.

Don't knock it! I saw a modified chassis with a Ford 300ci inline six do an 8 second 1/4 mile at the NHRA Finals in Pomona in 1998.

Take care,

I'm thinking I can get a much better deal on an early Fairlane 500. The worst buildable GTO I've seen was around 6k. That's ridiculous. Hopefully I'll get a bad arse Ford.
