Camrys in Cup? Toyota expected to join NASCAR's big league in '07

While itÕs years from an official announcement, we have word that an agreement has been reached between Toyota and NASCAR for Toyota to race in Winston Cup in 2007. ThatÕll be three years after it starts in Craftsman Truck in 2004.

Toyota engineers are working on the carbureted V8. ItÕs still on the computer at this point, but will soon come to three-dimensional form. One problem with the engine is casting it in iron. Most Toyota blocks are aluminum alloy, but engineers found a Toyota facility in Japan that still casts in iron.

The Craftsman entry will feature a Tundra body and the Cup car will be a Camry, Òwhatever the Camry will look like then,Ó Toyota sources said.

Yep youre right. I was sure it was him though.. hehehe.. The guy who drove the toyota celica was Gary Scelzi.

Speaking of Skuza, that guy is the worst driver ever IMO.

Everytime I waych NHRA he either red lights or smokes the tires.

He gets 0wned

16yr. old kids in '07 Camry's with buzz bombs and NASCAR stickers/lettering kits, claiming they got a NASCAR spec engine under the hood. I can see it now...

"There goes the neighborhood!!"

...what a shame.

you mean they wont just use the camry's engine? wow...even toyota knows they need a V8 to play with the big boys...

...ultrflo's right...hope the rice fad is done with by the time this comes out or youll have camry's with nascar stickers saying theyre fast...

Isnt that dean skuza dude one of the hosts for popular hotrodding tv. That guy is the biggest goofball on that show.
