Canton Oil Pan
I just ordered a Canton Oil Pan for my new project a blown 351 and the Canton has the dip stick in the side of the pan. What have others done with the hole in the block?
Thanks, |

I bought a 1/4NPT tap and tapped the block hole for an NPT plug. I love my Canton pan. The baffles and built-in scraper are awesome. Mine fit without any problems and cleared the K-member by more than 1/2" (some people have trouble here and have to notch their K-member). I cut my stock pan rail stiffeners to fit the Canton pan for a little added security against leaks.

My mechanic took what looked to be a small freeze plug and tapped it in the hole. Looks clean and hasn't failed.

I press fit a small plug into the old hole. You could probably use a hammer or a mallet to get the same results.
