Exclamation Canton oil pan doesn't fit!

I am rebuilding a 302 for my '90 5.0 convertible. I bought a Canton oil pan to clear the trick flow main support but, when I test fitted the motor with the pan, it hits everything it possibly can! It hits the rack, sway bar and the rear support bars to the k-member. This is with new motor mounts. I called Canton and they said they have never heard of any fitment problems with these pans. I can't be the only one that has ever had this problem! Any ideas, fixes, comments? Thanks!

Check to make sure your motor mounts aren't sagging. If the pan is hitting EVERYTHING down there, sounds like the engine is sitting too low in the cradle. If they're OK, maybe fab something up to kick the motor up 1/2" or so.

Just some thoughts......

Thanks for the response. I'm actually using brand new Energy Suspension mounts, so that's not the problem. I thought about shimming the motor on the mounts but I haven't decided yet. I've heard from people on other boards and they've done everything from grinding the rack to shimming the sway bar to smashing the pan.

Convertable mounts are 3/4 inch or more lower than stock GT mounts.

Alot of us Cobra's that have hood clearance problems switch to Vert mounts.

I have a friend that has a canton oil pan and he had to shim the motor mounts for it to clear the rack. He just used a stack of washers to do it.
