Default Finally! I got my MACH 1 today.

Man Im so pumped Ive been waiting years to get this car and then today 347MOM and me went to go pick er up. For those who dont know the sitche-ation it a 71 MACH 1 SCJ( silver and black) all original with ram air and a perfect body-a couple of rock chips here and there. But the car is super otherwise. It has the fold down rear seat with a door that opens to the trunk. Still has the original magnums on it with the tiny little spare in the trunk.
Its been sitting in storage for 5yrs and all it needs is a new tank. The old one probably would do ok but im not gonna fight the filters and carb probs that comes from tank rot. I sure do love that big ol 780 Holley sitting on top too.

Sorry but Im crazy over this car, specially since the new Machs are coming out and everybody wants em. And this ones the BADDEST MACH out there.

Well gotta go get a little rest, Ive been up for 28hrs straight and now Im back at work for another 12 hrs. Course they wont be getting much out of me tonight. Well shout at ya later.

Pics soon. I promise.

Need pics..............must see pics..........

Sounds like a sweet find. Get it going and give yourself an excuse to get new tires, 5 years will probably give you some dry rot there too.

Damm, cant a man get any rest around here.
Oh well, cant sleep any way. Pics coming, left my cord for the digital camera at home so I cant download yet. Ill try to get some up this weekend. CAD will probly have to help me.

Man I havent had this thing for a day yet and Ive already been offered twice what I paid+ a SS Crapmaro. I take it that we made the right choice buying, no slaving, to get this car. I knew it would be worth it, and I havent even drove it yet.

I was a nervous wreck coming home with it. 347 was giving people heck the whole way when they would pass us or cut us off. Thank god I didnt let her take that concealed hand gun course. I talked her down to keeping a 12 inch knife in the truck instead.

Well im off for another try at a nap. Later.....

That is awesome. It brings back memories of when my dad had a 71 fastback. It was just a 351 clevland though. Very nice cars. My sister wrecked it a few years ago i was still in high school i think. Can't wait to see those picks nice find don't get to many chances at a car like that.

Default Thanks CAD

Well Cad you fixed me up again. Much appreciated. And thanks for the replys and yes now I have my own car to polish and tweak on.347 will help out though, she cant stand just looking at it and not detailing it out. Shes a real trooper.
Look out at the track too! Im gonna pull out the SCJ motor and drop in a 514 with all the stock stuff bolted on and painted blue like the original. Hope I can sneak in a Demon under that ram air setup. I pulled out the tank today and cleaned it out, looks like it will be ok to use. Now I just got to change out all the fluids and crank er up. Cant wait. Hopefully it will be ready for the Hot August Nights coming up next month. Well chat with ya later...

So er.........so you're gonna pull the original SCJ motor and replace it with a 514? Why? Please tell me I am misunderstanding you. Please tell me you didn't buy a ultra clean and nice SJC just to yank the motor out. If I am not misunderstanding you, why didn't you just buy a plain jain fast back with a 302 in it and drop in a 514???

Default Worry not!

Dont worry Im not gonna take a fine car like this and cut it up. I just want to save the original motor from any wear or tear. I plan on getting another block to replace it with. When the motor is installed in this car you cant see any numbers anyway, and with all the original equipment bolted back on you really will not know its not the original. Other than that the car will remain cherry, I promise. I might port the heads while they are out though
I really have been wanting this car for a long time and the previous owner has kept the car just for me, as long as I promised not to sell it. I also agreed to let him come by when he wants check on it, and maybe an occasional drive.

Dont worry folks its in good hands.

Default Its alive!

We have ignition! rumba de rumba de grrrrrrrrroooommmm!
Thats right baby it lives and breaths. We cleaned out the tank and blew out the lines and changed out some rubber fuel lines and boom. I checked out everything and changed the oil and 347 got in the cockpit and fired her up. I have some tuning to do but she runs and drives. We took her out to the street and pulled out slowly then the tires broke loose and I had to let off, quick. Caught a little rattle though, guess im gonna have to run some 106 in it with that compression ratio. Oh well, its worth 5 bucks a gallon to me. Maybe next Friday Ill get it tagged/ liscensed and go out for a cruise. Ill check back with you guys later...
