New wheels are on!!

I finally got my Cobra R's on today. Rubbing does not seem to be an issue. It has only happened once and that was at full turn going over a curb into a driveway. Normal driving doens't cause any rubbing so far. Here is what I ended up with:

17x9 wheels on all corners
255/45/17 Sumitomo HTR+'s out back
235/45/17 tires in the front

The car looks awesome! I am trying to get a buddy to bring his digital camera over so I can get some pics up for you guys and gals!

Sounds sweet, can't wait to see pics-Mike

jj_jonathon 08-06-2002 05:42 PM

Hethj7 08-06-2002 10:09 PM

Well, the camera is in my possession but it is dark here in Missouri. But, the pics should be up by tomorrow afternoon.

95mustanggt 08-07-2002 05:05 AM

Yep, would be nice to see some pictures. I love Cobra R's.

Why did you only go to 255's out back? Why not 275's?

joe4speed 08-07-2002 10:39 AM

Cool, man... The rims changed the entire appearance of my car. Hope ya enjoy them, can't wait to see the pics! :)

Hethj7 08-07-2002 11:37 AM

I have one pic in my avatar now. I am waiting to get my site set up at MW to host other pics to post.

jj_jonathon 08-07-2002 11:49 AM

very nice rims....im jealous....those would look sweet on my car...hehe....

Hethj7 08-07-2002 03:37 PM

I have all the pics ready to go, but for some reason MW hasn't emailed my password so that I can set up my website here. I tried to do it last night, but still haven't gotten an email with my password. I posted in the site feedback to try and get it sent to me. As soon as it does, I will get the pics up.

The Deuce 08-07-2002 03:39 PM

This shows the new headlights a little and the Maaco paint job. I also repainted the black trim around the doors myself. Overall, i think it turned out pretty good.

joe4speed 08-07-2002 04:58 PM

Very cool!! How about a before pic also so we can compare!

The only old pic I have was scanned in. The quality isn't great, but here it is.

I also have new tailpipes that will be on shorty with the polished stainless tips. The current chrome tips have seen better days.

Mike Wolking 08-07-2002 05:05 PM

Car looks sweat man, the cobras really change it alot, keep the pics coming

Hethj7 08-07-2002 09:12 PM

I will lay off putting any more pics in here. They are all the same, just from different angles. If you would still like to see a few, I can email them to you.

Oh, as to why I got 255's rather than 275's. Well, I had 275's on there before and got a little bit of a rub when I had people in it. I just didn't want to worry about that and figured the 255's look just as good. I thought the 275's almost made my car look a little trashy.....like I was trying to look fast and they belonged on a beat up Camaro or somthing:p .

Plus, in the snow the skinnier tires may help just a little.

RBatson 08-08-2002 12:28 AM

Looks alot better! Good choice.

joe4speed 08-08-2002 12:54 AM

yeah looks WAY better with the new rims, I still have my turbines in storage with some good tires on them!!
Here's what it looked like with the turbines on it (i'll have to get a better pic):

Hethj7 08-08-2002 02:45 AM

I think I will put some wood and sheets over my turbines and use them for end tables or something:). I still have some good rubber on them too.

Thanks for all the compliments guys! I was always hesitant about spending the money for new wheels, but man they change the car so much for the better. I get a lot more looks now than before :D .

Joe - Wheels definitely helped your car out a lot too. But then again, the only thing really worse than the turbines may be the ten hole wheels. Few cars can look good with those on.

MidNiteBlu 5.0 08-08-2002 07:09 PM

hey man your car looks great!!

Do you still have the quad shocks on? I so want to put 245's on my car but i still havent been convinced to do so instead of the 225's i have now. What are the main problems that can happen with a bit of rubbing?

Thanks,
Nick

Kamaro Killer 08-08-2002 07:28 PM

congratulations

You're car looks a LOT better ;) I'm actually planning on getting some of the same rims, if you don't mind telling, how much were they and from where? (Although, because my car's lowered so much, I don't think 17's will fit.) Thanks, Keith

Hethj7 08-08-2002 07:35 PM

I am running the quad shocks with no problems. It is close, but I haven't rubbed in the back once. With people and more weight in the back, I may run into some rubbing, but it doesn't look like that big of a deal.

The only time the front rubs is when turning at full lock and going over a curb, like pulling into my driveway. On a flat surface I have been able to turn completely without any problems.

I got the wheels
here . They were by far the cheapest place I could find and the quality looks to be fine. You can check prices and shipping on their website. The only problem I had was they only sent three center caps, but I called and the fourth is supposed to be on its way.

Hethj7 08-08-2002 07:42 PM

Oh, as a side note, just remember....This company I bought them from said they manufacture them with an extra 18 mm of offset to alleviate the clearance problems on the front with 17 x 9 wheels. I know I have said this before, but I don't want someone buying 17 x 9 wheels from somewhere else and thinking they will fit their car since they did on mine. They may or may not, but I just wanted to be clear about what I had on my car.
