Lmao! Aint that the truth. I love it when older teams who try to "buy" the cup NOW, instead of rebuilding around youth, or a mixture of youth and veterans lose so badly like the wings are doing now.

Look at Hasek....hes played like CRAP! The 8 Million dollar man..lmao...sorry wings...your going DOWN!

Spend your money more wisely next time.

it's ok they have some good young talant coming up, fischer, datsuk, etc, it aint no big deal so all you boy's just rav on, hey i like the raider's, but im not whining about that lousy call in the pat's game. there is life after sport's, who traded & bought the cup last year?

note to self, now i hate the av's even more than the star's, eddie's better:D

When you get right down to it, a lot of teams try to buy championships, including the Av's.

The NFL is the only leauge that got it right with the salary cap.

Crazy Horse GT 04-20-2002 01:31 PM

amen to that mach1:D

:) Mach 1 you are right. In the NHL Money is a HUGE factor.
But no one uses more than Detroit . If you look behind the players at the next Detroit game you will see what company I run/ Manage I was Involved Some what with that Sponsorship.
Trust me They Go All Out on funds for their players.

I will say this the Redwings do have a good Business and after our talks with them.
I will say that is what it is"a buisness"!
Ps: We also sponsor the Bluejackets. Look at their Zamboni.:D

Bettman's position on the next deal with the Player's Association sounds as though we will have a salary cap in the NHL.

Me being another Oilers boy, and then missing the playoffs, leaves me to cheer for the Canucks. They're one of the hottest teams going into the playoffs and the Wings are the opposite. 2-0 now - hopefully it won't go more than 5 games. After that I like Phoenix in the West. In the East, if the Bruins don't go far I will be surprised, they are the highest scoring team in the NHL. I would like to see Ottawa make it past the first round for once but they're down a game already :(

If a Canadian team makes it to the finals I'll probably **** myself, but I don't really care cause the hometown guys aren't there :(

VANCOUVER CANUCKS Vs TORONTO MAPLE LEAFS The first All-Canadian final since 1989!
My favorite team is Calgary, and their one of the teams struggling because of the deep pockets of teams like Detroit AND Colorado, both those teams spend money like water. Then there's the Rangers, they've gotta be the biggest joke in sports today!

(hahahaha, corn is in the way ,) (, just a fact. what is it with all these jr member's trying to flame on senior member's- if i may borrow your sentence unit?) And just because you have posted more than me on this site it does not make you better than me!!!

 Only moved to omaha for business:rolleyes:

And I thought the HUSKERS fans were a** holes

"Note to self" Never move to Detroit the fans are worse than the Husker fans! Now I think that was the first flame I've done:p

I never said or insinuated that I was better than you because I've been around longer. I don't think that way.

I got a little hot under the collar, because of your Draper comment. It didn't appear as though you were joking, and I still can't tell if your serious about that or not. If you think Draper deserved that and Lemieux wasn't hiding from payback and acting like a little girl, then yes, I think that your a moron. You might not be, but after reading that comment, it sure appears that way. Lemieux wasn't even man enough to admit he felt bad about what happened.

Would you also defend what McSorely did to Brashear? I'm all for tough hockey, fights, and rough checking, but not for dirty play.

Well I went to Albuquerque for a few days and it seems I missed quite a bit. It's nice to see another Av's fan out there, but I don't condone cheap shots, especially when someone gets hurt from a cheap shot.

I don't know about the whole salary cap thing. It sucks when a couple teams are able to spend more money than the rest of the league and win year after year, especially for fans of the teams that don't have the money. However Professionsl sports is a business and it takes money to make money. I don't think there's anything wrong with getting the spending mponey and getting the best players available if it helps your team. I don't want to see the NHL turn into the NBA where teams are constantly trading players and teams look different year after year because of the salary cap and arbitration and all that.

The next game for Detroit and Colorado are extremely important in their respective series. I'm going to wait to talk any trash until the Av's play the Kings tonight. Last nights game worried me a little bit. I expected the Kings to win a game or two, but they kicked *** last night and I didn't like that.

7up 04-23-2002 11:56 PM

All right, things are going well now, Roy is back in his groove after a few shaky games. Av's 1-0 Stanley cup here we come.
