No more 4.6L's

At least not a newer one. I don't want to be grouped with the modular guys. There's just too many stupid one's. Too many ricers, and I don't want to be grouped with the crowd.

StoplightWarrior 06-25-2002 11:24 PM

WTF?? Where did that come from?

Im assuming something jacked up just happened to make you post this hasty, odd thread. So what gives??

Crazy Horse GT 06-25-2002 11:31 PM

unit, wtf im not rice i only have 4 sticker's haha, yeah what warrior said , you are grouping us all in the rice catagory, not fair kell, im not rice:rolleyes:

Mr 5 0 06-25-2002 11:38 PM

4.6 disenchantment

O.K., your feelings about the 4.6 Mustang have been noted.

Now, care to elaborate a bit?

Some of us are curious as to what's caused this fairly sudden attitude change, considering you just bought a sharp, new GT.

Crazy Horse GT 06-25-2002 11:45 PM

yeah what mr5 0 said, kell im am far from rice, i hate rice, import or domestic rice, i laugh at all of them, im keeping my rice 4.6 if thats the way it is, whats bugging you?

PKRWUD 06-26-2002 12:31 AM

Join me at the bar, Kell? Might help.

Take care,

The Deuce 06-26-2002 12:38 AM

I'm all for bringing the 302 back. Just make sure its got plenty of valves and even more ponies.

Seriously man, WTF? Did you grenade yours or something?

tireburner163 06-26-2002 12:43 AM

WTF:confused:

6T9PONY 06-26-2002 12:50 AM

I pray you didn't get rid of your new GT!??!?!!    :(

PKRWUD 06-26-2002 12:54 AM

i doubt this has anything to do with the engine or the vehicle, but more likely some of his fellow owners.

Time will tell.

I think I understand why...when a hot new redesign comes out, I have a feeling that wealthy little kids probably run to Daddy and nag until they can have one too  The young buyers now have been exposed to the REALLY COOL ricer trend, and might be trying to tag along, domestic style.

Also, the 4.6 is a better candidate for someone that wants a fast car that doesn't need too many mods (5.0s are easier to tear down) and could feasily spend most of his money on appearance mods.

Dark_5.0 06-26-2002 07:44 AM

I see his point, Going to Modular madness and reading some of the post in there that say things like "5.0's are slow as rice".............Makes me sick......Reminds me of mustangworld.com...

I see a post like that VERY rarely....
and our forum is NOTHING like Mustangworld other than the fact that most newbie mustang drivers drive the 4.6. Would you rather they go to stangnet and learn how to put in neon undercarriage lights or come hear and learn what a set of 3.73s can do for performance?

Personally, I love the old 5.0, but the modular motor is here, and whether you like it or not, its going to be here for a while.

And actually, stock for stock, the 2nd generation 4.6 SOHC mustang does have more horsepower and IS a bit faster in the quarter mile than a 5.0 GT\LX.

I would hope that our 5.0 brothers would accept us and join us in spanking the heck out of all those ricers. (Foreign OR domestic)

Personaly I could care less which car is faster......The problem I have is the total lack of respect they have for the 5.0......All they do is talk about stock vs stock.....When is the last time you seen a stock 5.0 at the track.

I get along with the LS1 guys way better than the 4.6L guys at the track. I am not talking about mustang works I am talking about all of the crap I have to put up with in my home town.

There seems to be some cool 4.6L guys on this site...Hammer/Unit/Stoplightwarrior/CrazyHorse/LizardKing/Mercury....etc...

Unfortunately nearly all the 4.6L guys that I personaly know think there car is faster than mine"stock".

I lke the new GT's.......Its just that some of there drivers need a reality check, and I am more than happy to provide that reality check every Saturday at West Texas Raceway Park.

I have only been in the Modular Madness forum a couple of times, maybe I just had a bad experience.

Later,

MidNiteBlu 5.0 06-26-2002 12:28 PM

I think that it is worth pointing out:

1. The latest body style mustang is more popular than ever

2. Buying a new mustang means you have to buy a 4.6L GT

3. We all know about the "Ricer" Fad that is currently on the streets. If anyone of these moron ricers is smart enough to figure out that a mustang is faster than a civic, he's going to buy one and he's going to rice it out.

These morons should not be mistaken for true mustang enthusiasts who are purchasing new mustangs (not everyone wants an older car no matter how "cool" the 5.0 is).

Yes these ricers are anoying. I was driving yesterday and I saw a Saleen Mustang with euro tail lights, gay rims, and all the customary lights! What a sick thing to do to a beautiful car! These things are going to happen. Let's just hope this ricer fad ends soon.

4.6L-nicely redone

Because performance freaks focus their attention more on the "go" than on the "show" aspect of a car, the FR500's real beauty is underhood. There you'll find a Cobra 4.6-liter 4V all-aluminum block whose displacement has been increased to 5.0 liters by the use of new "spray bore" technology.

On engines like the 4.6 that cannot be bored out because of the limited casting thickness of the cylinder walls, displacement is increased by removing the steel cylinder sleeves from the cast aluminum block and spraying the bores with a ceramic-like coating that serves as hardened cylinder walls. While Ford has yet to employ this new technology in production, its use could help squeeze more power from engines without retooling them.

New, high-flow four-valve heads with more radical cam geometry are added, along with an all-new variable geometry magnesium intake manifold, dual 80mm mass-air sensors, dual 70mm throttle bodies, and stainless-steel tubular headers. This massaged Cobra engine makes a reported 415 horsepower at 6,800 rpm (redline is 7,000 revs), and 365 foot-pounds of torque at 4200 rpm. But wait—there's more.

Putting all that power to the ground is a Tremec T56 six-speed manual transmission with a dual-disc Valeo clutch. A MetalMatrix composite driveshaft spins a Torsen TR2 limited-slip differential with 4.10:1 ring-and-pinion axle set. Ford claims the setup is good for a zero-to-60 launch of a tick over four and a half seconds—-and a quarter-mile sprint of 12.7 seconds at 114 mph. Top speed has been estimated at 175 mph. Forget Camaro and Firebird here—these numbers go beyond even the 2000 SVT Cobra R, and put the FR500 right up into the rarefied performance air of Corvettes and Vipers.:D

digital3.3 06-26-2002 02:37 PM

oops sorry that was only supposed to show the tech for the new 4.6L they want to put in the new cobras to replace the old 4.6L.

explicitone 06-26-2002 02:59 PM

just put it this way a TRUE mustang lover is not going to bash the 5.0 because his car has a 4.6 and the other way a around let the little kids that mommy and daddy bought them this new mustang give it a year they will want something else just remember the love we have our cars and props we give to those that earn it and let the ricestang lovers do as they please cause they will have to learn the same way the import crowd is starting to that stickers and big 5ft tall wings dont do crap for the looks or the power of the car....

blue00gt 06-26-2002 04:28 PM

All this stereotyping crap is getting old. Who the **** is 'them' and 'they'???? I own a 5.0 and a 4.6 with a total of 0 stickers...

Just get over it!! It's a MUSTANG that should be good enough no matter whats under the hood.

UNIT:
No matter what type of vehicle you love(mine is the mustang:D) there will always be someone who turns it into rice, destroys it or just don't understand what they really have. Yeah they do ruin the image of a true muscle car. Just let those people be as they have no clue to begin with and it's not going to stop anytime soon.

Oh yeah I have 2 stickers on mine. They just happen to say D.S.S. Competion Products and I do have their short block under my hood.

Yeah! I'm not rice. I own both engines. The GT has tons of stickers, the Cobra has none. So what's your point.

When anyone posts in an open public forum - especially when the post is enigmatic, as Unit's was - other members will naturally post comments. That's what the forum is for, opinions and comments.

No harm done that I can see and Unit 5302 has so far ignored the posts, as is his right., so why would you - or anyone - be annoyed?
It's just opinions and you know what they say about opinions.

Thought you might.

rbatson 06-26-2002 08:53 PM

I understand his venting, I get it. Don't forget where you came from and alot of the guys buying mustangs now are too young to know what you are talking about. Young guys, neon lights, clear tail lights, NAWWSSSS.. they have no idea what the heck they are talking about.

I actually went and drove a new GT in 99 and I was VERY IMPRESSED! It actually pulled as hard as my aod'd vert with a blower.. no track around but I knew that sucker was a 13.8s car just by the feel of it. I actually got in a race with a guy with an import, ON THE TEST DRIVE! I looked over at the sales guy and said "sorry about that:(".... He said "Its nice riding with someone that actually knows how to drive one of these things, don't worry about it:)"

Kell, there are alot of guys that buy these cars that don't have a clue and I'm sure there was a stupid post that prompted your thead.. You don't get classified as a dumbass by the car you drive:) Don't sweat it! If you decide to sell it... I'll give you half what ever the market value is on it:D

Thanks for the info, I was just playing around anyways, since this happens everytime 5.0 vs 4.6 comes up.

I know exactly what it feels like to be indigant about being lumped into a group judgement. Just as its ok to have an opinion, I am well within my rights to seem "annoyed" :)

Unit, are you going to grace us with your presence on this post again or what? You just can't come out with a remark like that and then go hide your face and give no reason whatsoever for making that statement.
If you thought the 4.6 was rice then maybe you should have thought harder before you bought that new stang........right?

I haven't seen him on the boards since probably that post was made, so chill...I think he's just been away for whatever reason...hell, when have you EVER known Unit to not post up a storm on a heated topic??? :D :D

Mr. 5.0: Yes, I believe we've been done ;)

Let's hope Unit didn't park his car in his garage close it, and let it run while sitting in it. Poor guy probably killed himself. Hey Unit, I'll give ya a straight trade my Mustang for yours. =) Hell of a deal guy. =) I know you like my stang, and It's a 5.8L! :D

lol
Hope your ok bud, don't worry we're all watching out after ya. =)

The Deuce 06-27-2002 01:03 AM

Anybody else notice that Unit's Avatar is gone? It just says Senior Member. He he, seen your member. That sounds pretty funny.

Seriously Kell, step away from the 302. Go see Joe's grandma and she'll make it all better. We could even call the bartender for you.

I drive two imports, and I get lumped in with the worst crowd of posers this side of Tokyo. You got pinned by Gov, eh?

Seriously though, what's going on? Let us know if you need anything, like a nice bi-plane wing or something.;)

Tod 06-27-2002 01:43 PM

all this without Unit actually explaining himself.......

why not wait until he does so, so as to not make some people indignant towards each other regarding the 5.0 and the 4.6. both are engines in a MUSTANG. if it's in a Mustang and it runs like a scared rabbit, it's JUST FINE.

so Unit, what's up man?

Mercury 06-28-2002 02:34 AM

Well, I dont own a 5.0. But I do own a pretty wicked 4.7L (289), and a 4.6L. I love them both. Driving them is like night and day diffrence.

We had an argument very similar to this at our hang out, and Tim C was dragged into it (99 Aniv ed GT). They wanted him to race a bolt on 94 Cobra. Funny thing is, the guys that were set up to race werent even part of the argument.

Most of the crew I hang out with has the 99+ 4.6's, but we also have two 5.0 drivers, a 3.8 F-Bod, a S2000, and guess what...We all get along.

I've had many of people before races say I had no chance a winning because my car has a "Slow", or "Turd" 4.6 Liter.

Well anyone that knows their head from their *** should know that nowadays, displacement is not much of a speed indicator anymore. A 4.6 can make as much power as a 5.0, **** MORE power! Just depends on how much you feel like investing :D

Although I do love my V8s (no replacement for displacement) I'm not ignorant enough to think that smaller CI can't beat me...I've seen enough 12 second Civics to know better...I just prefer my *vrooooom* sound, NON ECONOBOX looks, and raw torque ;)

mmmmmmmmm mm!

i went to modular madness & saw why unit got p.o.ed, one guy was talking bs about 5.old, thats stupid, i love the 5.0's great engine for almost 30 some odd years, it's a ford so i dont know what that guy's problem was , but it was bs, so come back unit, all us 4.6 guy's dont think it's a better engine than the 5.0 :) they are all ford to me.
