Kell was, in two words, "anal retentive". Doesnt mean hes a bad person, just means what it says...

tireburner163 12-13-2002 12:35 AM

oh pardon me, I was wrong.....I was talking to Kell......the nearest track it 3 hours away.

PKRWUD 12-13-2002 05:55 AM

That's still close. He's just afraid of racing. It's an unknown. You can read tech mags and give very technical, magazine sounding replies to questions, but the only way you learn to race is to race, and Kell wasn't about to do something that he wasn't guaranteed to be successful at, right off the bat.

I'm glad he's still moderating for Kat. I recommended him to her when I retired from being the tech moderator there.

I don't know what happened to Kell, but he did change. We used to be very good friends, and I received dozens of emails from him asking questions. Then I stopped coming to MW for a year and a half, and when I did sneak back in, he had gone from a nice, polite, quiet, yet helpful guy, to an egotistical self proclaimed master of all. I think he started hating me when I corrected him a few times. I never did it vengefully, I was just helping whoever had asked the questions, but he took it personally.

I'll never forget the rant he went on insisting that an oil pump couldn't blow out an oil filter. I went as far as to post a page from Mellings website, and he still said it wasn't true. lol.

I fear that he puts too high a value on always being right, and doesn't have the patience to learn new things. He doesn't handle being wrong very well at all. He became cold and mean to anyone that gave him a chance, and this just isn't the place for that. People often said they respected him for speaking his mind, which is fine when it involves an opinion, but Kell never learned that word. His opinions were law, and if you didn't agree 100%, you were stupid, dumb, and wrong. Period. He would even make shitt up just to bolster his "opinions", but most people never caught on. He would be an excellent poker player.

Honestly, the scariest part is that he reminds me ALOT of myself ten years ago, which is why I still have faith that he'll get over his ego, and come back as the man I called a great friend. I do miss him being here, but the Kell I knew hasn't been here for over 2 years.

:(

Take care,
~Chris

Chris, I'm gonna have to disagree with you on the racing part. Hell I wouldn't drive 3 hours, pay shell out 40-100 bucks for a entry fee, plus food. All for 1 to 3 runs.

Not to mention the racing season in that frozen waste land is only like 5 months.:)

I do agree that Kell changed........on the board.......if you talk to him personally he's a damn nice guy.

You recommended Kell to be a moderator? Whats wrong with you? Your post contained about 10 characteristics that kell had that all were absolutely what a moderator should NOT have.

With the attitude he had, being a moderator is not the job for him.

being a moderator is about being fair and balnaced, two things Kell never was. Any one who makes up stuff trying to impress people is a clown..

When you have a butt dyno as accurate as Units you dont need a track:D

Eric4Nitrous 12-13-2002 03:20 PM

lmao

ultraflo 12-13-2002 03:29 PM

...how do I go about getting one of these "butt dynos?" LOL!:p

Sounds good! :D (that was just too damn funny!)

JaxTheDJ 12-13-2002 04:50 PM

One member says"I wouldnt go 3-4 hrs. and pay 40 to 100 bucks just for 2-3 runs" Isnt part of racing taking a chance on the fact that you may have done a good job with your car and having faith in yourself as a racer? or am I missing something here,I race for the thrill and enjoyment,So far this year I ahve been to Gainesville Fl.,Savannah Ga. Commerce Ga.,Orlando Fl., West Palm Bch Fl.,even qualified for NHRA Divisionals in Montgomery Alabama, Racing is always a shot in the dark in the ET brackets,if you enjoy it go,if not sit around and talk about it just dont miss out on all the friends you may miss and the good times had,if it's a money issue I completely understand but racing is a lifestyle and a damn fun one at that.

tireburner163 12-13-2002 09:53 PM

if your not really into drag racing.........that's a long way.
